I have been in this shop numerous times as I am a local. And every single time I am in the shop the employees ignore me. They are so cold and unfriendly. I don't understand how hard it is to say "Welcome" or "Hi". Do I not look like your typical client? They seem to judge whom they're going to engage with and not engage. From other reviews on here this seems to be on ongoing issue with the employees. It's all about the TRAINING!!! I like the clothes but I just can't see giving money to this establishment when the employees can't engage. I walked in yesterday and there were two employees who never once said one thing to me. I walked around picked up something I was going to buy and then I put it back because no one spoke to me. This has not been the first time no one has spoken to me. I walked out and down the street and made purchases at two other boutiques because they were friendly and engaging. Please teach your staff how to be kind and welcoming to all. It's really not that hard. The women working here don't seem to care about customer service or they don't know how to engage with customers because they haven't been trained. I still have a gift card to use here and it will be awhile before I decide to use it or give it to someone else. read more

I bought one of Arananells vegan bag a few years ago and unfortunately the strap broke on it.. had moved to San Francisco a couple of years ago. I decided to contact the store to see if they still had them and the owner Michelle contacted me back immediately and gave me the brand name and I was able to order another one. The thing is Aranelle no longer carries this brand BUT she was able to know what bag I was describing and directed me to where I could find it. That is a woman who knows her store! I purchased a Latico crossbody bag and wow is it beautiful! I looked at the other bags on the Latico website and found my exact bag for $13 cheaper and it was not on sale. My sister and I came shopping here early afternoon this past Saturday and had a terrible experience. The sales clerk lady was incredibly rude to us. We were shopping around for a gift and were never asked if we needed assistance. The real kicker was when we purchased something and the sales lady tossed my credit card back to me across the counter. I was shocked and stunned as I've never been treated so poorly. We wouldn't have bought anything from the store because of how awful she was but we were in a time crunch and really liked the product. I won't be going back here though and if customer service matters at all to you I'd recommend going to other stores in the village. . I love this store they have so many unique items, clothing, shoes & gifts. Can't wait to see the new items each time I come to town..... I bought several items including the coffee towels for gifts. The first few days I was here I had a hard time making it in to the store before they closed.....Before Covid they used to close at 6 but now it must be 5pm. Anyway I made it in and I love all the new items. This is my second year of coming to Carlsbad for an Extended stay during the summer & while I'm here I make a point of shopping small & local. Face mask are required, hand sanitizer is located at the front door for your use.....They are Cleaning between customers...... The staff is always supreme! Wow! I used to shop at this store for years when I moved into the area. I moved to Encinitas and decided to take a stroll around state street. I walked inside and a salesperson walked right by me and no greeting. Right behind a couple walked in and they were immediately greeted. I'm Mexican dressed in yoga clothes and the couple were Caucasian. Another salesperson started up chatting with them and they left. She just watched me as I walked around the store and not once said anything to me. I'm shocked that I was racially profiled. I will not go to this store and will tell ALL my neighbors and friends to not frequent this location. Very disappointing. While at the Wednesday Farmer's Mkt. I stopped in ARNELLE'S for the lst time. I liked many of their things & purchased 2 Sunglasses not knowing they were for reading. ( I exchanged them for a Brighton Erring Box. ) I love Gift Shops & frequent them often, however, was not 'impressed' with either Sales Clerks attitudes (or) their lack of people Skills. They acted like they were doing me a favor waiting on me... were uncommunicative... & looked very bored. I won't be coming back... I know a lot of ladies in Carlsbad I could have referred to this Boutique. Popped in here while at the Carlsbad Farmer's Market recently & literally had PTSD from several years ago when I had the worst experience shopping here. Honestly, haven't been in since, but thought maybe things had changed with how retail has been battered by the pandemic. NOPE. The sales clerks are still extremely dismissive & much more interested in chatting amongst themselves than helping anyone. I felt invisible & observed other customers looking/feeling the same way. It's really too bad because I do think some of their items would make nice gifts (the clothes/accessories are not really my style), however, I just can't bring myself to support any business that thinks being snooty & dismissive is "customer service". I came in for a birthday present for my mom. I was helped by Betsy and it was some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. She was beyond helpful, extremely knowledgeable about the products and how/where they were made, and made great recommendations to help me choose the right one. My mom absolutely loved what I got her. Unfortunately it turned out that it was the wrong size. Betsy went way out of her way and contacted the jewelry designer and had her make a custom fit for the bracelet and within 2 days the bracelet was the right size. This place has really great product but the women who work here are very unfriendly and snooty to customers. They seemed suspicious of anyone who came through the door they didn't already know and just had a general pushy salesy way and attitude of being better than everyone else. This is one of the nicest stores to shop in....not only are the clothes, shoes, accessories and jewelry unique and well displayed, the customer service is beyond anything I have ever experienced in a small boutique. I love the clothes here and always find something here, but, the return policy was honored when I decided to return a bracelet that I had changed my mind about. I hate to write this review, but unfortunately, I think it is time. I am a long-term resident of Carlsbad and have shopped at this location for several years, even when it was known by a different name. The atmosphere is not warm and welcoming. I love to support local businesses, but I want to spend my money with retailers who are personable and warm. Not pretentious. I feel like unless you know them personally or have a $300 handbag, they don't treat you the same. I'll spend my money at other local businesses who carry quality brands. I really LOVE Aranelle in Carlsbad. Each time I need a special gift for my mom or a good friend I go to Arenelle. So many times I have been able to find a unique, stand out gift. Plus, I really love the artisan jewelry- for me (lol). Their customer service has been fantastic. Once, I walked in 2 friends of mine to show them my favorite jewelry line. Two of the sales gals were so patient while my girl friends and I tried on and thoroughly went through each piece. Another time, I dashed in for a gift while walking my dogs. 1 dog was being noisy while tied up outside which made me flustered. The sales gal noticed my frustration with my dog and completely took charge. She handed me a bag of dog treats to go sit outside with my trouble maker. She then asked me about my friend that the gift was for, price range, then set about showing me a couple items while I sat on the bench with my dogs. She nailed it!! I gave her my credit card, stayed with my dogs while she did a gift box, rang me up, then walked out the shopping bag with my credit card and slip to sign. LOVED IT!!! read more
