You've got to love Rockport's dedication to the arts. They've got sculptures lining the major streets all throughout town. From a giant crab to a big marlin, to whatever those big stone things are by the beach, they're keeping it unique around here. The arts district is full of all kinds of cool galleries and fun little restaurants, a great way to spend the day. The docks are a great place to get hooked up for a fishing expedition. This being a shrimping town, there's a long list of amazing places to get fed. The people here are friendly, and the weather is generally great here. I really enjoy coming down to Rockport to hang out. There's always something to do, and there's always plenty of relaxing by the shore.

Outside the courthouse there was a monument to those who served in local law enforcement. It was beautifully done and paid incredible tribute to those who gave their lives in public service. After my money was taken, I was told "sorry, that's the building down the street, you can get what you need there for the same price, but we can't give you your money back." I can't say I'm surprised. Completely absurd. You're the professional, not me. Make it clear to the customer what you are selling them BEFORE it's too late. Make sure it's what they need. Obviously all you care about is taking my money, the money of a law abiding, tax paying, voting citizen. The system is so corrupt.

As we walked up, we could hear Selena's music playing through the speakers, along with information about her life and career. It really helped create a meaningful and memorable experience. The statue itself is beautiful and sits under a gazebo, allowing visitors to walk all the way around it. There are plaques and inscriptions that share more about Selena's legacy, and we enjoyed taking the time to read them and reflect on her impact. This is also a fantastic spot for photos. The memorial's location along the Gulf Coast adds to the atmosphere, providing beautiful views and a peaceful setting that complements the tribute perfectly. Whether you're a lifelong Selena fan or simply visiting Corpus Christi, this memorial is definitely worth stopping by. For a fee, Rockport picks up your garbage, provides water, sewage and natural gas. When things go wrong, they make sure that things get fixed and working in a reasonable amount of time. When Hurricane Harvey came, they worked overtime, tirelessly, non-stop to keep the water flowing, the trash picked up, the sewage lines clear, and everything working as normal when the world was turned upside down with a hurricane. I am quite impressed by the tenacity of the utility department of Rockport- when nearly every power line in the county was down, they helped get things up and running. When the sewers were overcome with sea water and flooding, they worked nonstop to pump it clear of debris to keep things flowing. I owe my gratitude to the Aransas County Utilities District! Thank you for keeping things working!
