The parking lot is set up in a one-way style, so it dumps you back on the highway upon exiting. There are outside mailboxes, which is nice so you don't have to go inside and get coughed upon. I wish that this town had an updated post office that looks better than this. The county courthouse here looks nice, why can't the post office? Plus, this post office lost a star since they don't sell any beer. If you don't like going to the post office, don't worry, they'll generally come to you.

This small group of men and women work tirelessly to make sure that Aransas County is safe against…read morefires. They risk their lives to help serve and protect the citizens of the area. Many thanks to their hard work. During Hurricane Harvey, this group of firefighters and their support staff suited up and worked non-stop to rescue people from flood waters, put out fires, and save lives. Their efforts saved countless lives and mitigated innumerable damages to property. The coolest thing about this volunteer fire department is that the chief owns a water company, so they never ran out of water. When everything else went offline due to the storms, the Lamar Volunteer Fire Department had water, where they were happy to provide first responders with much needed showers and laundry services. After the storm, they went door to door throughout the peninsula and checked on the gas lines and looked for injuries. They went above and beyond in helping the citizens of Lamar and Aransas County with their hard work. I really appreciate the tireless efforts of these guys and gals. They're mostly/all volunteers, and have their own full-time jobs outside of fire fighting. They put everything else in their lives on hold on such a regular basis to help their community. For a fee, Rockport picks up your garbage, provides water, sewage and natural gas. When things go wrong, they make sure that things get fixed and working in a reasonable amount of time. When Hurricane Harvey came, they worked overtime, tirelessly, non-stop to keep the water flowing, the trash picked up, the sewage lines clear, and everything working as normal when the world was turned upside down with a hurricane. I am quite impressed by the tenacity of the utility department of Rockport- when nearly every power line in the county was down, they helped get things up and running. When the sewers were overcome with sea water and flooding, they worked nonstop to pump it clear of debris to keep things flowing. I owe my gratitude to the Aransas County Utilities District! Thank you for keeping things working!

Outside the courthouse there was a monument to those who served in local law enforcement. It was beautifully done and paid incredible tribute to those who gave their lives in public service. Brand new bridge. Never had traffic on it, but apparently the crack was superficial because they had traffic on it starting today (June 28, 2025). Goodbye old bridge. I guess you weren't tall enough. We took this bridge from a couple times from downtown Corpus Christi to North Beach. This is an…read moreold bridge, it was opened to traffic in 1959. I love the arch and all the metal work. We never went across it at night, but in 2011, they added LED lighting system. It would have been cool to see it at night, but the opportunity never arose. You can view this bridge from so many places! We saw it from the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington on the North Beach side. I'm afraid to report that this bridge is now being replaced with a taller bridge. So tall in fact, that it will be built above the current bridge. It will look very different and modern, a bridge with strands of cables . The new bridge will allow larger ships to pass under it. After the completion of this new bridge, the current one will be demolished. That is what I've read.

To accommodate the largest super tankers and increase space,a new bridge as well as docks are being constructed. This part of Texas no longer remains slow paced with wind,steel and chemical manufacturing on the increase.
