This place is fantastic. Hidden away down a dirt road, it's a beautiful estate with indoor and outdoor seating, multiple outdoor bars overlooking the vineyard, spots for music and a wood fire pizza oven. The wine and beer selection is diverse with both local and non-local options. For those who are interested, they also have huts for glamping with a reservation. I would highly recommend this Vineyard for those wanting to relax and enjoy the outdoors with a glass or two of wine. We will be back!

Know what you are booking people. I read all these reviews before booking my reservation welllll in advance. I knew it was basically camping with Ac and heat. That's it. This is not a full service hotel, people. This is a FAMILY who owns a vineyard that serves food and wine and allows you to enjoy it with a campfire and more wine at night. This isn't where you come if you are going to want someone to wait on your hand and foot. The reviews I read that are bad seem to be from people who are used to large hotel chains and not glamping. My best friend and I had a great time. We had some amazing wood fire pizza made by the owners daughter, who is the chef, we had wine poured by Barb, the owner and then we hung out at night under twinkle lights with other campers and enjoyed more wine and went to sleep. We woke up and then had the chef make us a beautiful breakfast while we sipped coffee in front of a pond on a vineyard. It's where you go to unwind from life. Everything was clean, everyone was respectful and we totally enjoyed our stay. There are only 4 bungalows and then a suite you can rent out for larger parties like bachelorette or girls weekend with multiple people so it does fill up quickly.

This is the first time I had ever heard the magical words, glamour camping. Give me a tent with a full sized bed, electricity and furniture and I am totally down for some camping! And Slattery Vintage Estates does it WELL. I don't even know where to start! We got settled into our little tent. There is a room behind them all to use the restroom. There is also a little patio with chairs to sit and read or write. A dresser and a little table. After some time in our bungalow, the Whiperpool, we checked out the rest of the property. Between the main house, where the wine and food are, and the tents, are rows of grapes (no house wine yet, at least not when we were there), lots of places to walk around, beautiful landscaping, a little pond, a cute little dog named Alfred. We went on a night that they had entertainment (so glad we planned it that way), music by Deja Blue, and after a little wine tasting, purchased a glass and a shrimp, alfredo, garlic wood grilled pizza and listened to the music. There were several people their (some who were not staying) enjoying wine and the music and as the night wound down, we made our way back to our little tent. I will say the majority of guests were older or couples but my friend and I still had a good time just hanging out and relaxing. We never really felt out of place. I kind of felt privileged that I got to go to my tent while others had to leave. It was very quiet for the most part. Even when we were in our tent and music was going on. We were far enough away it wasn't bothersome but not too far away, that we dreaded walking or felt unsafe. The next morning you have the option of enjoying breakfast or not, which you pay for when you book your room. DO THIS! The in house chef, Sarah, prepared the most wonderful spread. The first round was strawberry yogurt with granola. Second round included a quiche and french toast stuffed with cream cheese and orange marmalade or something. With a fresh flower to boot! And if that wasn't enough, we were also treated to apple turnovers. The presentation was gorgeous. We sat together with a few other guests and got to know each other. It was fantastic!! Man, writing this review makes me want to go back so bad! And I'm since married. This would be a great way to relax with a spouse as well.

This is a nice little get away from the bustle and hustle. Very much worth the short drive out to the country side. A fabulous little place for a bottle, snack, and walk in the fields.

My husband and I stayed with another couple in the house on vineyard property this past Sun/Mon. The glamping sites we booked were too wet & muddy. So having the house as an option was appreciated since neither of us wanted to cancel our stay. The meat & cheese tray had a nice variety of delicious cheeses, however only 1 type of meat and not much of it compared to the amount of cheese provided. Also bread/crackers in addition to the pretzels already on the tray would have been nice too. The brioche and brie was our favorite, especially with the jam on top. Breakfast in the tasting room was yummy too. It featured a few "non-typical" of the Midwest breakfast food items, which was nice. We are already talking about visiting in 2019 and making it an annual couple's trip. Thanks!

An experience that is hard to describe and only one can truly feel the power of peace in the nature when you stay at the vineyard. The Glamping (glamours camping) experience was beyond words. You make your arrangements with the owner Barb and she also will greet you, provide excellent tips throughout wine tasting and show you the land. The Glamping tents host a bed, furniture inside and outside the tent, a warm electric blanket and a heater. The tents zip open and close and offer a great view of the vines. Throughout your stay you can order food through barb and it's beyond amazing. The estate has a variety of cute areas to sit and have a glass of wine while enjoying the scenic view. Glamping is an experience that needs to be reserved in advance and is well worth every minute!

We had cabin #4 which at one time was part of a Girl Scout camp that got added to the existing park in the Loess Hills. For $60 a night we rented a two bedroom cabin. We could also bring our dogs. It didn't have running water or a bathroom but conveniently, a vault latrine and outdoor water pump were in close proximity. A regular bathroom with showers was a short walk away. There were two sets of bunk beds in one room and a full-sized bed in the other. Renters must provide their own bedding, pillows, towels, toiletry items, cooking utensils, pots and pans, and dinnerware. With a microwave and coffeemaker but no other appliances, some cooking was done outdoors. It did have a couch, a couple of chairs and a dinette set, as well as a picnic table outside. Waubonsie is a hikers paradise with lots of trails including equestrian trails and camping. If you're into fishing, Lake Virginia is 7 acres with largemouth bass, bluegill and channel cat. You can launch your boat (electric motor only) or peacefully canoe. Waubonsie is not for you if you like an action-filled vacation. It's a beautiful, quiet and peaceful retreat from stressful living. Not surprisingly, do watch out for ticks in the spring.

Also has camper spaces. It doesn't get the traffic like big camp grounds in my experience so it's more peaceful and costs significantly less- only $8 for primitive camping ($5 more for vehicle permit if you don't have state park pass). When I was there in May I had the whole camp ground to myself save one other camper on the edge of the park. Camping is self-sign up with slips around park. Has fire pits and wonderful lake with tons of birds and avian wildlife to see and listen too. Hundreds of baby geese. Good fishing and local Dons Bar is the only food stop in Memphis so don't be afraid go on in and try a cheeseburger or fish- the bartenders super friendly-Also get fire wood there too. It isn't a far drive from Omaha- 35minutes if there's no road construction and is better than most campsites in platte or Mahoney. Take a trip there it's worth it!

I was…read moretraveling across the country and this quiet park situated about 25 miles west of Omaha, Nebraska was the perfect place to rest for the night. I discovered Elkhorn Crossing through the app on my phone called Campendium. Upon arriving here, there's a little "introduction board" posted near the entrance. I pulled my car over and read the sign with instructions on how to get situated camping. There was a small pamphlet/card to fill out. Included with this was an envelope to deposit $10 cash or a check into the drop-box. Then I teared off the receipt portion and attached it next to the campsite of my choosing. That was it. I was good to go! I'd just like to point out that Elkhorn Crossing is closed for 5 straight months out of the year from November 1 - April 1 which obviously makes sense due to the winter conditions. For me stopping on by back in August 2020...I had nothing but warm weather, lol. What I really liked about this Elkhorn Crossing was the amount of space and area to spread out on. So although when I visited back over the summertime there were other campers nearby my tent...they actually appeared far away. I felt like I had a big section of grass all to myself. Also...this was important. You were allowed to pitch your tent on the grass area so it made for a fluffy setting to sleep upon. Most campsites these days (especially the more primitive ones in remote locations) feature hard dirt grounds to rest on. For those campgrounds I use my inflatable mattress for padding. Some real good aspects to Elkhorn Crossing that I appreciated was not only the campground area being so spacious...but every site had a barbecue pit to cook including picnic tables. For anyone bringing food and groceries with them...it's the ideal place to enjoy a cookout. Also good was being able to back my car nearby my tent so this way I didn't have to walk back and forth far setting myself up. If I had to reveal anything disappointing, it'd be that there weren't any showers or restrooms on the grounds. Sometimes I get real lucky at campsites I pick where places actually offer these amenities. But usually I have to pay more than $10. Those types of campgrounds (mostly within RV Parks) cost more in the range of $25 - $50 for the night. But I am easy. I have no issues using the vault toilets. Although I never explored around this Elkhorn Crossing Recreation Area, I did check online a lot of other outdoor activities for having fun here. This included... - Fishing - Float trips down the river - Playgrounds - RV Camping - Wildlife Viewing (though I didn't see anything) I really liked the picturesque scenery during sunset. I sat back in my lounge chair and appreciated the views out into the distance. Goes to show how much space there was available here that I was able to admire an evening summer sunset. Overall, I very much enjoyed my time and stay for the night here at Elkhorn Crossing Recreation Area. It was a great pit-stop along my driving journey around the USA. I'd certainly recommend to anyone needing an easy going stop for the evening...this place is more than serviceable.
