Everything happened so fast and faith and hope was so helpful and knowledgeable and compassionate through everything. They really care about the patient and the family. I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

The admissions staff helped make an incredibly difficult transfer process (absolute nightmare with Kaiser) as easy and painless for us and my dad. The nursing staff seemed to really care for their patients; the level of care and attention given to him was second to none. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating when we would come to visit, and kept us informed with any changes to his needs. Thank you to everyone who helped make my dad's stay here comfortable, and with dignity.

Countless times I found my loved one soiled. I brought it up to management yet it continued to happen. You really have to be very vigilant with staff. There were maybe 2 staff members that went above and beyond but everyone else you really have to follow thru to make sure your loved one is getting what they need. My loved one ended in the hospital multiple times. I'm glad I was able to find a new facility. The issue will continue to happen because there is absolutely no communication btwn staff at shift changes. Management continues to allow this to happen there is no accountability at all.

Over the weekend, I visited of my Sister and thought that everything looked really clean and well maintained, they remodeled the building I was actually really impressed! My Sister told me that she was being treated very well and even The Activity Staff and Nurses come in and read her a story! Play music and do some dancing ,Seeing her in person really helped alleve my fears and anxiety and I was really glad to see that she was being well taken care of. Thanks for doing such a great job!

My mom fell and had a black eye and ended up with a fractured nose there and they didn't seem to care. They didn't bother to even call 911. We had to call 911. That's a fact. The staff is not even mediocre and it smells there. If you don't like your family member or friend send them there. All physicians in the Pasadena area know this place is horrible and it's really sad. Most people that get sent here aren't from the area so they don't know. It's in sketchy part of town. They deleted my comment because they don't want to look bad. People you need to know what goes on here. There's other places that are so much better. I'm letting people know what terrible place this is. I will be checking and will keep writing this review, they are trying to hoodwink people. I get nothing out of this, just want to help out other people so they don't suffer the way my mom did. Putting one star to tell others of this terrible place

BETTER THAN OTHERS WE'VE SEEN…read more BUILDING: The place is generally clean with less persistent "smells" than in another similar facility. They have nice places where residents who are able can go to eat and/or visit with others; as well as daily activities to engage residents. CARE: Some facilities like this only offer resident showers only every other day or bi-weekly. This facility offer showers every day. It appears that medications and basic monitoring (blood pressure, etc.) are handled correctly. Care suffers due to lack of staff communications. (See STAFF below). SEVERE DEFICIENCY--"ON CALL" IS NOT ON CALL: A problem--which is not limited to just this facility--is that the on-call doctor has not responded to some night calls in a timely manner. It seems that on-call really means "on call during days and perhaps evenings, but not at night." (IN A DIFFERENT FACILITY, this contributed to a costly, life-threatening condition that required intensive-care hospitalization and a months-long recovery. So 24-hour call back is important and may not occur, even if promised that it will.) STAFF: Staff members are always polite and upon request, do try to be accommodating. However, some of the CNAs (nursing assistants that do the hands-on care) have neglected certain important aspects of care repeatedly. It's unclear as to why, but a contributing factor could be due the repeated lack of staff communications. We have to personally talk to staff across shifts to learn what's going on and there have been repeated mistakes and concerns with care that reoccurred, even after reporting them many times. Also, it seems that some of the people doing the care are unaware of facility policies. Thus far, this has not resulted in a life-threatening situation, which did occur due to neglect in another facility. TO PUT THIS IN PERSPECTIVE, another place we used--in which neglect triggered a life-threatening situation--would get one star. Another that we screened would get two stars. The Californian is the best that I have found in this area and I would recommend them over others, but that does not excuse repeated deficiencies.
