Reading the comments brings me back with my mom was…read morethere a few yrs back, at first when we entered the place I was like: Wow! this is like the Ritz Carlton of Rehabs! the building and grounds were really nice... but then reality hit! Here are some of the things that happened: Staff just didn't care, from nurses to those amazing lady aids, 99% were like that. They would leave my mom in her room the whole morning with windows closed if I didn't come by and check on her. Then she would missed her PT appointment until the next morning... and so on. So what was the point in being there?? They would leave her in her regular clothes until close to 10pm and if I wasn't there until the next morning. You had to be on top of them with meds.... or they would not give them to her. One time the ambulance had to come and take my mom to the ER because the feeding tube had felt, so they said...but I was pretty sure while changing her and being rough they pulled it....BUT NEVER CALLED ME to tell me what was going on!!! Until I happened to call and found out where my mom was!!!! and this are a few things that I now remember. After the first night I would stay with my mom until 11pm when she was set to go to sleep and I would come back the next morning around 830am/9am to make sure somebody would come and get her ready for PT on time. I would leave her for 2 hrs and quickly come back and check on her thru our the day/nt. They didn't like me being there so much BUT I didn't care! I was my mom's voice! or I knew this was not going to go well. PT was great! that I have to say. Thank God for them, they did their best to help her. (hopefully they are still good!!!) I could go on and on...but I think this is good for now and you will get the big picture. My advise: Never leave your love ones alone and if you do... come in an out. If you are far.... I feel bad for your love ones.

Most Yelpers use YELP reviews to search out new restaurants, share their thoughts and assessments…read moreon dining experiences, good and bad, and for some, especially the Elite Yelpers, to engage in the myriad of social activities sponsored by Yelp, or by fellow Yelpers through UYE's. Of course, reviews are also written for hotels, various service providers, hair and nail salons, and dozens of other types of businesses. I'm not sure how many reviews are written about nursing services or other providers of service which focus on health needs. Well, here's mine, as I know some of my fellow Yelpers may one day have a need for such a service. For the last 6 months I was engaged in overseeing care provided at home, and eventually in hospice, for my 90 year old cousin, Edythe. During that time, I had the need for at-home nursing aides for cousin Edythe, and called upon Lynden Nursing Service to do so. I was impressed with their efficiency, especially their ability to handle everything via telephone, and to respond to urgent needs. There were situations which really demanded logistic sensitivity and prompt responsiveness, in a very short window of time. As an example, the time when Edythe fell in her apartment (even though she insisted the wall telephone flew out from the wall and knocked her over), and she was seen in the ER, and when I was advised of her release, I did not want her to return to her Kings Point condo and not have anyone to be with her to make sure she would be OK during that night and following day. I called Lynden, and explained that I needed an aide in Delray Beach in no more than 90 minutes, that she had to speak without a heavy accent, and further explained some of Edythe's unique health challenges, to be certain they sent "the right person". They did! Trust me, it isn't easy to find "the right person", when it comes to nursing services and their aides. It is actually far more difficult and challenging than it is, let's say, for a hot, sexy, very bright, well educated, well employed, straight (or close to it) woman to find a 30ish guy with the same characteristics. Now, that caught your attention, huh, assuming you read this far. Well, Lynden identified the right people, and responded to my compulsive lawyer-like former Federal government senior-level employee mentality of not allowing anything to slip through the cracks, taking nothing for granted, and expecting nothing less than excellence. Edythe's last month of life had numerous challenges. When she was in hospice for 13 nights, attended for those nights with 15 hour shifts by one of their young aides (TAVIA), or when she transitioned to assisted living and was attended by another awesome aide (TEKEIRA) to help close out everything in her condo, take her clothes shopping, and re-assuirng her that everything would be ok, my life was made all the easier for the outstanding professional, reliable, and sensitive nursing aid service provided. If you have a need for an aging relative, you'll be well served by using this agency.

I especially enjoyed my nightly visits with receptionist Brenda Lee after I was up and walking. Thankfully I was in a room by myself, although many would not mind having one, I couldn't handle having a roommate. I don't really like people even visiting me when I'm infirmed like that. I prefer to spend my time walking and healing which is why I got out of there in 9 days. I'm due for a right hip replacement likely in November so I wouldn't have a hesitation in going back to signature if there's a bed available at that time. My mother was there many years ago when under different owners/ management, and I would not have sent my pet dead rat at the time... thanks to New Management and the nursing director Marvia Chambers, those times have passed. Although a bit dated, the facility was extremely well kept and clean. The physical therapy department was very good when my mother was there and I received excellent assistance as well. I remember my mother saying physical therapy room was like everyone getting together for a party... friendly and fun!

My Dad enjoyed residing in Independent Living at the Vi. But after a fall in his apartment led to…read morehis permanent residency in their care (rehabilitation) center, it was a terrible way to live for his last year. He went from a beautiful fully equipped residence to a tiny semi-private room where he could not even subscribe to his own cable TV. Not even a storage area for him to use, as provided in the Independent and Assisted Living residences. The staff there is friendly but terribly short-handed. Once he was finished with his prescribed rehab paid by medicare, the only exercise available in the gym was approximately $45 an hour. And when we tried twice to sign him up, our requests were ignored. A nurses aide walked with him two or three times a week for about 10 minutes, that was all the moving around he got to do. The doctors who work there are a joke. Maybe if one of them, or a nurse, had put a stethoscope to my father's chest, they might have suspected the pneumonia that wound up killing him a few weeks later.

This is for the Vi at Lakeside Rehab Center…read more Last year my mother went to V and it was a good experience. Of course last year she only had a broken hip so it was straightforward home in 6 weeks. I even wrote a glowing letter at how wonderful the people were, the food was great and my only complaint really was that they didn't answer the Bells during meal times. This time was the most horrible experience ever. I was stunned to see how much the care had fallen in one year. The food was horrible, the administration is worse than horrible and my mother, who could walk up and down stairs, walk 120 ft round trip to go to the bathroom, get herself to bed and up in the morning and could shower herself had to be brought home on a stretcher. Now 10 days later she still can't walk. Why, because when she got there she had gout and the doctor and PA refused to treat it. At first I thought they didn't believe her and they absolutely refused to call me to get my mother's medical history with gout. I had to go over their heads to her rheumatologist in order to get her started on a Medrol pack which is prednisone. By then we were 9 days in with no treatment and the Medrol pack only worked while she was taking the prednisone. I fired the doctor and PA . The second PA knew right away that it was gout and ordered a second round of prednisone . Again while she was on the prednisone she started to walk again but as soon as she was off the medication she was in serious trouble again. I contend that had they treated the gout initially and not waited so long she would not have had to be on oxygen , she would not have had to endure that pain , she would not have had to be confined to bed. They simply did not care. Because she was confined to bed, she was left in her own stool for hours resulting in her first raging UTI. In addition to that they screwed around with her Carvedilol calling it a "hold parameter" which many facilities do. However what they were doing was having her miss entire doses because they didn't know what they were doing. That's dangerous. They were supposed to take her blood pressure and if the systolic was under a hundred they were supposed to hold the dose. They were supposed to come back and do her blood pressure again until it was over the hundred mark systolic and then give her the Carvedilol. I actually had an LPN ask me if she should give my mother the Carvedilol. Don't you think she should have known what a whole parameter was? And when I found this out and questioned it they suddenly came back in to take the blood pressure several times until they could give her the meds. I was Furious. Because they didn't treat the gout she got fluid on her lungs and had to be on oxygen and Lasix. To add insult to injury she ended up with yet another raging UTI from being left in her own stool for hours. She ended up being isolated and given an IV antibiotic. We were told everyone that walked into the room needed to be wearing a gown , gloves , a mask . No one did this . Not the director of nursing, the assistant director of nursing, the aids, the maintenance guys, or housekeeping. In fact after isolating her they took her out of the room to go weigh her . So why was she isolated? Let's add one more thing. She started to get a precious sore on her tailbone. The wound person walked in the door didn't get anywhere near my mother and said just give her the pink stuff she'll be fine. Then they sent in they're dermatologist and he said it was just flaking skin. She had to wait till she got home for me to clear that up. Certainly sitting in your own waist will break your skin down but no one seemed to care. This stay at V was torturous. They sent an able-bodied woman home on a stretcher because of their incompetence. Never ever again will my mother go to Vi. It was a horrible horrible experience and my mother has still not recovered from that incompetence.

The nurses wouldnt tell me anything, while I shivered with a high fever. They naver gave me a covid test I just assumed I had it because I had all the symptoms. I was feverish,chills and delusional it was very scary. My family was terified. When I went to leave I realised my new back brace for my broken back I got at the hospital and and other disability supplies were gone from my closet. I asked the nurses and everyone. No one could help me of even seemed to care or look for them, so I had to leave the facilities with out the back brace and suppies I was given in the hospital. The level of indifference was tremendous.

Nothing fresh, nor healthy. While a good majority of residents still abide by the Catholic No-Meat-Fridays, the facility sometimes only serves meat dishes on Friday - stating "We can make you a Grilled Cheese if you want". The priest hired to say mass can care less about the mass - many times he skips parts of the mass in order to get out of "work" sooner. Given the high price paid for a Catholic Senior Living Facility, their performance is AT BEST is one star, if even that.

Zero stars…read more We had a horrible experience with this facility while my grandmother was there, and I would never recommend it to another family. Despite being sold a polished image and promises of excellent care, the reality was heartbreaking and neglectful. My grandmother was supposed to be on multiple anxiety medications, but the staff consistently neglected to administer them. She had very clear care instructions--like cutting up her food because she could no longer do it herself--but they ignored this too. She was often served entire pieces of chicken or ravioli, which she ended up eating with her hands. Despite repeated requests and documentation, they refused to follow these basic instructions. Over the course of a year, they went through at least four or five activity directors. There was no consistency, and the activities were virtually nonexistent--just the occasional bingo game or YouTube video. It was clear the staff were doing the bare minimum, if that. Worse yet, there were serious hygiene and safety concerns. My grandmother would often be left to sit in soiled diapers for hours. You had to go find someone and beg them to change her. She was a poor sleeper, and we discovered--after having to install cameras--that they were putting her to bed far too early and not checking on her at all during the night. Though we were told they do two-hour checks, this was a lie. On many nights, she would go to bed at 9 PM and wouldn't be checked on until 7 AM. During that time, she was left to wander her room unsupervised, leading to multiple falls over just a couple of months. The facility constantly smelled like urine. The staff spoke mainly in Creole and were often rude or dismissive. Only one or two people genuinely seemed to care--but they were clearly overwhelmed and couldn't manage the 30+ residents on their own. We were also told cameras were not allowed, which is not true unless it's a shared room. Don't let them bully you--know your rights. Since moving my grandmother out of this facility, her care has improved dramatically. Her new home has a psychologist on staff who immediately identified the need for anxiety medication. She now sleeps better, is calmer, is helped with eating and hygiene, and is actually checked on throughout the night. The contrast in care is staggering. Management at Elegance was unresponsive and dismissive. We asked repeatedly for help--simple things like ordering nightlights or bed alarms--and they would either ignore us or disable them. Do not be fooled by the nice appearance of this place. They will promise you everything and deliver nothing. Your loved one deserves better. Ours finally got it--just not at Elegance.

My family members collectively got together to search for an Assisted Living/Memory Care facility…read morefor our brother. Over the past few years, as his health issues continued to decline, we felt it was time that he could no longer live alone. We spent days and weeks tirelessly visiting multiple facilities from North Palm Beach to Boynton Beach in order to find what we felt would offer the best care for our brother. After completing all of the visitations to other facilities, we chose Elegance Senior Living and here is why. From the moment we walked into Elegance we were greeted as if we were family. Jennifer, the Marketing Director, was of course our first contact with any of the staff. Never at any time did we feel pressured by her or treated like just another number as we did from some of the other facilities we visited. We actually visited Elegance three times before making the final decision, including bringing our brother along for an evaluation and to get his feelings about what was to be his new home. After our third visit we knew it was going to be a perfect fit for our brother. We met with Jennifer and Elcuby, Executive Director, who helped making our brother feel right at home. It was encouraging to witness the time and care they afforded us to help with a seamless transition. Veterans also get special treatment at Elegance. Our brother is a Veteran who served 23 years In the Navy. He has been diagnosed with legal blindness and has had multiple surgeries including recent triple bypass heart surgery and also suffers from dementia. While addressing our concerns with other facilities about his multiple conditions, we received the best answers on a plan for our brother from Elegance. He is now living at Elegance and is the happiest we have seen him in years. All of the staff already love him, and he is feeling right at home. I would also like to acknowledge the Nursing Staff and Nurses Aids who are extremely gentle in caring for our brother. If you are considering placing a loved one in this type of facility, look no further.

She encourages my mom to participate in several activities during the day. She keeps her on schedule for her meals. Keisha will keep my mom company when my mom is asking about one of her kids and we aren't there. She really cares for all the residents as if they are family. This attitude permeates the memory care center under the wonderful leadership of Alison Liquori. She is calm, caring, and always responsive to residents and families needs.
