Chris Melton and his crew from Arborsmith Pro Tree Service recently felled about a dozen trees or so at my home. I was greatly concerned about them because in the prior two consecutive years dead stems fell and 1) hit my power pole leaving us without power and heat for two days; and 2) fell on my deck about 10 feet form the corner of the house and demolished it. I guess that was a message to me that after 26 years of living in our home I needed to finally do something about the remaining dangerous trees. One reason I did not act sooner was the anticipated high cost to remove trees. Because of the terrain, proximity to power lines and the home I was also concerned about the experience, training and safety record of the people performing the work. I wanted 100% certainty that the stems and branches would fall where the feller aimed them. Over the years I had worked with several tree services in the area but when I began to call or email around I got not response or was told that they were too busy to look at my job. Some dear friends had recently used Arborsmith to fell trees on their property and gave me a way to contact Chris. Chris was responsive and met me at the site soon after our first conversation. It was then I learned of additional values about working with Chris. He and his crew do not utilize heavy equipment. The terrain around my house prevented anyone from using heavy equipment. Secondly, Chris continuously trains his crew on safety and accurate felling techniques. This mean't that even new crew members would be trained in the latest techniques for safety and accuracy. Like any other person seeking contract services I was careful to to assess competing costs and determine if I had confidence in the vendors providing me with proposals. I wonder though if there are other considerations one should take into account when hiring people to perform services. I have a great many friends and acquaintances that own and operate their own businesses. I have a great appreciation for all of the value that they provide to our communities. Especially in light of the COVID crisis maybe we all need to think about how consumers can actually support these wonderful people that do so much for us all including the products and services they provide but the incomes they create for families, training opportunities, career advancement and such. I believe that working productively is one of the greatest human development practices we have. Business owners are the catalysts providing these opportunities to the majority of income earners. Earning an income, working in groups for a greater purpose, performing on a team, being a net contributor instead of a net consumer is the greatest source of human fulfillment that we know. In the case of Chris Melton and Arborsmith, he and his team provide people facing personal crises with a resolve to making their lives better is at the core of why Arborsmith exists. Arborsmith was not the low cost provider but the value package of what they did for me and all of the people involved was the greatest. I couldn't recommend Arborsmith more! I didn't have a big tree removal job, but it was more than I could accomplish myself, so I was looking for a tree service that could work around my busy schedule and make the process as easy as possible. Aborsmith came out to provide an estimate, arrived exactly when they said they would, and was quick about it. They worked with me on a great price and provided me a background on the company and the guys on the team. The day of the job, the team arrived on time with everyone on the team greeting me with a handshake and smile. They were obviously competent in their process, fast to get started and got through removing 5 full sized cherry trees, and a pretty big Doug Fir all in about an hour and half. They did a great job cleaning up the site, and even thanked me for hiring them for the job. There is so much to say on their professionalism that I probably couldn't fit it all in one review. I truly appreciate when someone can look me in the eye and say thank you for choosing their business, even though I'm the one that was thankful for their efforts. We had a huge cedar tree in out back yard that we had been concerned about for a long time. We had gotten a couple of bids over the years but it always seemed so expensive. We met Chris, of Arborsmith Pro Tree Service, when they were taking down some trees for our neighbor. We talked with him and quickly got a bid that was more reasonable than others. He was aware we were on septic and told us that it was important to 'lower' the limbs and cuttings down to protect the septic from damage. I don't recall anyone else ever giving us that caution. After checking with our neighbors, who were able to highly recommend them to us, we went ahead with the project. It was a huge job and it was interesting to see them work throughout the day. They were pleasant and congenial and went out of their way to make sure that everything was done to our satisfaction, including the clean up at the end of the day. We had a hit and run that took out 12 of our 17 Arborvitae trees. We called Arborsmith Pro Tree service and spoke to Chris who came to see the damage the same day we called. he was prompt, kind and courteous. His crew was just as exceptional and took great pride in their work. we greatly want to thank Chris and his crew again. Had a great experience with Chris and his crew. Chris showed up right on time for the estimate I scheduled through their web site. Quoted a fair price and I trusted him. Told me he could have his crew out to my place by 0830 to remove 5 trees for me. They showed up at exactly 0830. Crew did a great job. All trees removed and cut into woodstove size pieces and cleanup done as promised. I've had some bad experiences in the past with tree cutting. This was perfect. They did a great job of removing a nasty Chilean Pine (Monkey Puzzle) tree. These awful trees are mostly really sharp needles and pitch.
