I come to the Austin Bluffs location almost every weekend and shop. Today when I came in with my kids we went to the restroom and rang the bell. The lady that came over to open the door looked my 10 year old up and down with a disgusted look on her face. So when we left the restroom and was looking at Furniture, that same 10 year old pushed on the piano keys and that same employee yelled across from the location she was at and came and slammed the piano shut. I get it, my child shouldn't have touched the piano keys but she did not have to yell and then come over and slam it shut. I would have just let it go if she didn't give my child that disgusting look up and down prior to this. read more

I was never really into thrifting until my son brought me here. There's great deals on kids, women's and men's clothing. They have daily sales on different color tags, but on Saturdays most (not all) of the colored tags are 50% off. A lot of the employees are friendly and helpful. It's definitely worth it to stop by here, you may never know what you can find. That's always the exciting thing. read more

Today we had a bad experience with an employee (supervisor), named "Sonny" He was so rude and not helpful at all, did not greet us, slammed my items on the counter, had an attitude the whole time and did not even wrap some fragile glasses, that we were buying. I find the most incredible items at this ARC. Having learned to go shopping when the store opens in the morning, one can find the 'treasures'. And I have learned to look under/behind/on the sides of stuff in order to find treasures. You just never know what can be hiding. People stash items so they can buy it on Tues or Sat half off days. Love, love, LOVE this ARC and his Woodmen/Academy counterpart. The 2 best ARCs in the Springs. Organized, pretty clean (this is second hand, don't expect retail styling) and AWESOME DEALS TO BE FOUND. This store as well as the Woodmen/Academy discounts 4 of his color tags (50% off) each Saturday for all, each Monday for Military and each Tuesday for Seniors. They do this with ALL of their items, to include formalwear (the ARC on South Academy does not) so there are great deals to be found her for formal gowns and for Halloween costumes. When you walk into the store on those days, just look around (registers, racks, wall displays) for the posted sign that tells which 4 colors are on sale that day. Green tags are never on sale (they are usually locked inside the curio cabinets). Items arrived that week are not on sale, they will go on sale the following week...so the 4 discounted colored tags cycle thru all the time. They organize their items as best as possible. The volume of stuff that comes into these stores is mind boggling. Some stuff is rough, but there is a lot of very kindly pre-owned items to be found. I regularly purchase cashmere sweaters, silk blouses, designer brands, leather accessories, formal gowns and off course TONS and tons of items to be assembled into halloween costumes and accessories and props. See photo of 'Ring Leader' jacket I assembled from a great quality wool blazer I got for $2.50. You can return items purchased within 10 days if you have the receipt. You only get store credit, but sometimes it's useful as on Saturday the lines for the dressing rooms are very long and I often take clothing home to try them on. I always use the store credit within a month or so, as I am here on o weekly-biweekly basis when I have time to browse. I am addicted to this place. Absolutely love it. read more

We were both saddened to discover the prices were through the roof. $8 for a pair of worn kid's jeans? Really? That's crazy balls. OMG! The prices in the ARC as so high now. Often I will see the original price and then see their tag is the same or higher. The selection and condition of items had dropped dramatically. Trying to buy jewelry from the case or anything in the locked larger cases is next to impossible and when they do help they make you feel like you're going to steal it....Really? Been donating stuff here for 20+ years. Time to rethink ARC shopping. read more

Decent selection, well-organized and well-sorted shelves and racks. However, I give 3 stars because there are some staff who have no common sense or lazy. The very sticky, hard to come off stickers were placed on the plates! I had to scrape the stickers off with a knife which can damage the glaze on these plates. Even with that, after washing it, adhesive is still stuck on each plate so I can't use it until the adhesive are all gone. Also, Please DO NOT put the stickers on the stamps on the bottom of the plate either. I like to know what I'm getting. There were items with no tags. Found peeled off stickers lying around. My 10 y/o daughter can't last more than an hour in this ARC. She complains of difficulty breathing (she doesn't have asthma or any issues with her lungs). I think it's psychological because of the obvious dust and poor air quality inside the store. The cashier was nice snd personable. She made mistakes in pricing a few items which I was glad I caught. Nothing broke in the items she packed. I'll try to avoid this ARC if geographically feasible. read more

I was incredibly disappointed by my interaction with the manager on the floor this past Saturday. I wanted to purchase an audiobook for $3.99, but the pamphlet insert was priced separately, also at $3.99. Both tags were yellow, so they would have been half off. At the checkout, I asked if the pamphlet insert price could be disregarded since it was supposed to be part of the audiobook anyway. The manager who was called to assess the situation made it sound like she was doing me a big favor, saying JUST THIS ONCE she would make an exception for me. However, the audiobook would now be a pink tag instead of a yellow one. (Pink was not half off.) I protested the tag color but she stayed firm and walked away. Maybe she didn't think I was capable of doing the math or realizing I was paying the same price I would have if I bought both items separately with a yellow tag. Here is the thing; I would have bought them anyway. Four dollars for an audiobook (even if I shouldn't have to pay for the insert) is still a GREAT deal and I would have walked away happy. Paying that price in the end is no problem. My issue is with her pretending to give me a discount. It's shady and disappointing. (Unless perhaps, she was unable to do the math?) read more

We found exactly what we needed at the ARC, but overall we spent a good 15 minutes browsing the bric-brac shelves. The downside is the stuff at the ARC doesn't look to be as cared-for as at their competitors, but they have more stuff, so I'm guessing they are less picky in what they decide to keep and sell. Prices are higher than the competitors. For instance, I bought one item at the Salvation Army for $1.49. The ARC was selling the exact same one (it even had the same markings) for $1.99. Even weirder, after a little digging, I found another of the exact same one a few feet away but it was marked at $3.99. Uh... Anyway, we brought up both to the cashier and asked if we could get the 2nd one for the lower marked price of the first. The really nice girl said it was no problem at all. I didn't mind it was 50 cents more than at S.A. The donation area is squirrelly only because you have to drive completely around the strip mall to the back dumpster area where the parking lot is uneven and cracked in places. There they have volunteers and workers who take your stuff away. It's not as easy for these ARC volunteers as it is for those working at the Salvation Army on Tutt or the Goodwill on Waynoka - these guys have to carry your donations up a set of stairs. read more

I had just gotten out of the hospital so I backed my truck to the ramp and got out. 5 employees were out there. Three men and two women. I could not get their attention if my life depended on it. They walked by me and around me and did not say a word to me. I felt like I was trash. Now I'm old school. Honor, respect, loyalty, integrity are what I live by. Excellent thrift store! Prices are decent (they're fantastic on Saturdays when most items are half off). Went to this location and found some unique pieces of furniture for DIY projects for real cheap and regularly priced. Staff was so friendly and helpful! The gentleman that helped me load all 3 pieces into my Forester was nice and happy to help. Another staff member told me about a local auction and staining projects. Buyers Beware ARC on Austin Bluffs A few years ago I bought a pair of leggings for my niece, they were too small and in "like new condition" so I returned them back to the store for a store credit. I had my receipt and the tag was still on the item. The cashier (very old) was rude and snapped at me for asking for a store credit which is store policy. Then the store manager came over and preceded to do the same. I didn't argue or get loud with them. I just left with the leggings and took them to another consignment store and got my money back. Since then I have been treated like a "leper" in the store by manager and some of cashiers. Today (12/23/17 around 8:20am ) was no different, when I got in line the acting store manager came by singing a Christmas tune to alert the cashier I was approaching. What a place! I like ARC because they are pretty big, however I prefer Goodwill. I like the fact that they have A LOT to choose from at ARC but hate the fact that they are more expensive than Goodwill, plus it seems like some things at ARC are kind of crappy. I still like to go to ARC because sometimes you can find a really good deal on something that is in good condition. I do have to say that their shoe, even though its used, selection is pretty big and better, to a point, than Goodwill's. With that said, YES, I would recommend this ARC to someone. read more

I love the Arc. I love that their profits go to support the special needs community, which includes my brother, and their employees are super nice. They keep themselves relatively clean and organized, and the prices are low. It's a step up from Goodwill, I think, and I always find great stuff there. However, it is definitely a spot where you go digging to find the gold in the middle of the crap. If you love the hunt (like me), you'll love Arc, but if not (like my husband), skip it.
