This is probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had in shopping anywhere. Oddly enough, it was at a store where you are making an effort to give back to a good cause. One of the managers there, a tall heavy set bald guy, is incredibly rude and obnoxious. Definitely will not make the mistake of shopping there again. read more

While I will agree with others that this is one of the nicer Goodwills, one particular manager there really makes me never want to return. Today wasn't the only time I have seen him be rude in the presence of customers but today was uncalled for. I went there looking for boots and actually found a really nice pair for $9.99. Which was a good price, right? Unfortunately, the original sticker price was inside both boots and was marked at $6.99. So when I got to the register, I asked the cashier if they could charge the price of the original sticker and she said she needed to call a manager. No one answered and both cashiers expressed that they've been unable to get a hold of a manager for a while. She proceeded to overhead page and he finally walks up and asks why they didn't call. She stated that she had called and there was no answer. He then said, the phone didn't ring (she did test the call with him while he was up there and I believe they had just lowered the volume on the phone). Anyways, she explained my ask and he said "no, our sticker is the price. I said ok, but why would I pay a higher price when the original was cheaper? He said the item was probably on clearance before it came to them. Again, I said ok, so why would you charge more. He then rudely said, "do you know the store they came from, you can get them from there." I said forget it, I don't want the boots. The cashier apologized and I told her it's not her fault that her manager is so rude! I really don't think I will be back to this location even though I love going there. read more

Goodwill Store & Donation Center - Thrift Stores Near Me - Monument, Colorado

This Goodwill in Monument, Colorado is the largest, cleanest, best organized thrift store I have ever visited. In my reviews of other Goodwill locations, I've joked about finding hidden gems buried on shelves stocked with tobacco-scented alarm clock radios and "gently used" tubs of Vick's VapoRub, but this location has nothing but clean, desirable merchandise, all at unbeatable prices. Most thrift shops look like a hoarder's mansion (misplaced merchandise tossed with wild abandon), but this Goodwill is organized like a department store. The clothes are sorted by size, the music and movies are sorted by genre (impressive), and the electronics are stacked neatly on the shelves. The more expensive items (e.g., jewelry, rare games, a gently used tub of Vick's VapoRub donated by Ed Asner, back hair included, etc. ) are stored neatly in locked glass cases. My dad and I make a stop here on our yearly pilgrimage through Colorado and New Mexico. He invariably walks out with a stack of $2 t-shirts*, whilst I invariably walk out with a cart full of DVDs, CDs, and video games. On our most recent visit, he picked up six shirts, and I brought home a brand new, complete-in-box "Wii Fit" balance board and game for only $11.99. I also found a pristine copy of the 1985 gothic rock classic "First and Last and Always" by The Sisters of Mercy for $1.99. Here's a first for a thrift store: complimentary coffee and cookies in the books section! My dad was impressed with the coffee ("hot, not piss warm," he assured me) and spoke favorably of the cookies, which he likened to Pepperidge Farm. I partook of neither but appreciated the scent of the coffee -- the floral, spicy aroma of the methylpropanal, the pungent, fruity notes of the acetaldehyde -- as I rifled through stacks of musty polka records. Definitely check out this Goodwill if you ever pass through Monument. You're sure to find something that piques your interest. If you're in the market for God-awful Wii games, a urine-stained wheelchair, or a box of Depends, however, give this store a wide berth and visit the Goodwill in Huntsville, TX. That store is a treasure trove of third-party Wii shovelware and geriatric curios. *On our first visit, I had to explain why a "Straight Outta Compton" t-shirt didn't quite match his red "MAGA" cap. read more

My experience with this Goodwill store is only around donations, but they are amazingly helpful with drop-offs. I've been cleaning out my mother's house in the area and took *a lot* of stuff to them (honestly there's probably at least a few people that work in the drop-off area that run away when they see my car). They have been so good about helping me get the heavy and awkward items, and they only turned away a few things (that probably deserved it). read more

I used to be a loyal customer and purchased quite a few items at this store weekly. No more. I've finally just had it. Many of my friends feel the same. In my opinion, prices are too high and keep rising, often dramatically. It looks like shelves are now stocked with leftovers that are not sent online. Result? Mediocre to low-end goods at higher prices in the stores. Increasingly, good brand donations and unique items of value do not seem available anymore to local walk-in customers at the stores in Colorado Springs, and especially this store. Why? Maybe they are being shipped out of the store before hitting the shelves. It happened with books (Goodwill will sell your decent book donations on Amazon worldwide) and electronics and now with clothes. It used to be fun to shop here. Don't assume your donation at this store will be sold in this store and to people in this community. It may be sold online to anyone in the country or moved to a different store. I have experienced little to no interest in customer feedback. IMHO, Customers shop at Goodwill and other thrifts for two reasons. 1. Low prices. 2. Find something unique or unexpected. If prices are high and good brands (a unique or unexpected item) are sent to an online sales platform, then what's the point of walking into the store? Great that some percentage goes to programs but that is usually not why a shopper shops at a local thrift. Clean store. Probably the cleanest Goodwill I have been to. Great employees. IMHO there needs to be a strategic balance between stakeholders like Supported Programs, Customers, Employees, Local Community, and Donors. The whole online impersonal sales system (taking better items away from local community stores) and "highest price we can get" approach can knock that balance way out of harmony. read more

This is the nicest Goodwill store I have ever been in! It's extremely clean and laid out like a boutique! It doesn't feel crowded. I have found lots of nice items here! A couple really nice pairs of shoes, some brand new clothing items. A few household items, etc. I wish I lived closer because I'd be here a lot more often! read more

I am a fan of this store and I shop often. I am also a retired Dr and a chemically sensitive patient. I used to love shopping here but in the past several years I have noticed that your clothes have been laundered in something so perfumed and lasting so long that people are getting sick from the scents which can't be washed out easily. Other Goodwill stores I have visited don't have such an overwhelming scent. Why is it necessary to use such a highly perfumed product to prepare your clothing for the store? Scents are the new second hand smoke (proven to cause health issues of asthma, rashing, neurological symptoms and cancers) Please rethink your practices. I think this store has a lot of good stuff, they always have new stuff being stocked and everything is nicely arranged and organized. The only problem I'm starting to have with Goodwill and some other thrift stores is their pricing. I have noticed so many items that are priced as if they are new or even above the price of what you'd pay brand new. There are things I like to buy cheap and it makes no difference to me if it's used. I'm disabled on a very limited fixed income so I have to really budget and thrift stores have helped me in that respect. Now I'm just not able to fit some things in my budget if they are going to price used things so high. I don't see why they have to be so high priced since their inventory is already all donated to them. What was once a good place for people like me to shop, is quickly becoming too overpriced and I wish they wouldn't price things higher then buying it brand new. It defeats the purpose of going to a second hand store. Everything about this store is wonderful except the pricing. There are still good deals you can find if you keep looking for them and happen to be there on a lucky day, otherwise, it's just getting too expensive to help people like me on a fixed income any help for buying pieces of furniture or whatever I'm needing. It's sad. This is a way to help the elderly, young families , people who are having financial troubles, out of work, disabled, retired, single parents ect... sometimes I don't think anything will make sense or help people anymore. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. When the rich are getting their inventory for free, one would think they could pay it forward . Let's be honest, I haven't been to more than a couple GoodWill or similar places before. I had an image in my head what the interior would be like. This place is really, really nice. For second hand, the items here are carefully displayed and quality is obviously a concern. Clothes, books and furniture are all q great deal. Cookwares are a bit pricey. Making a donation is always easy (drive through). Staff is great. read more

This location is the highest priced Goodwill in the area. They also take stuff from this store that does not sell and take it to the store on Austin Bluffs Parkway. I found a frame that was not put together and I wanted it, but it was too high priced. I even went back to check on it to see if it was on sale. It was gone. The next week I found it at Austin Bluff and it was on sale. I cannot understand why they even have the Deja Vu area I rarely see anything special in there. Even the store on Kelly Johnson is better priced that this one. Do they think Monument people have more money? I never buy clothes at any Goodwill by the time they are on sale only junk is left and full price is close to retail when it is on sale. read more

This is the best Goodwill I have been to and I have been to ALOT. Visiting the area from NC. Found two paintings- one valued at $300 on eBay and one $50. Paid 7.00 and 2.99. After spending over $1000 in one week at that store, management would not accept my request for one small item to be returned which I had purchased 8 days ago. Something that was sized wrong by their team. Horrible customer service. I am a long time customer and frequent loyal donor, but I will never shop there ever again. I would give this place a five star rating if not for one of the donation staff that I believe was only recently hired. We went to drop off a couple pieces of furniture, and he very aggressively rejected one of them but basically declared that the other piece was "worthy". I basically told him that he would get neither and I gather the things up. He wouldn't even offer me a soda or water which is what typically the rest of the donation staff usually do for me and many others who donate there. Interestingly enough I took the same pieces of furniture down to ARC in Colorado Springs, and they took all of the furniture without hesitation and had nothing but praise for them. I told him about the story and they have said they have been getting complaints about Goodwill in Monument for sometime. I recommend that Goodwill in Monument interview the gentleman working in their donations department that was working the afternoon December 26, 2018 and ask him about his attitude. He may need sensitivity training or some other remedial action that's appropriate. I'm guessing I may not be the only one who seen this before or complained. No wonder why so many people are leaving Colorado and Monument now. Spoiled, right of entitled infected beasts, and even Goodwill has this now! Pathetic and sad, especially since Monument wasn't even like this three years ago. read more
