We took our son here to get a haircut the last week in February. The previous haircut (NOT done…read morehere), the barber had cut his hair so unevenly and it was growing out terribly. Little dude needed it to be fixed, ASAP. We looked up places near us, and thankfully found this little gem. Called ahead, and they said they had time immediately so we drove on over. There were only two people working there that day, and the gentleman who I spoke with on the phone ended up cutting our sons' hair. I believe his name is Carl, but please forgive me if I am wrong. His chair is the first one when you come in on the left. He listened to what we wanted, was so good with little man (aged 4) and had such a natural rapport with him. He made the haircut such a breezy process and FINALLY his hair was even again! It was a perfect cut, and very reasonable ($13). It has been two months, and it is growing out the way it should be. We will be back, once the world is back up and running due to current quarantine but I really wanted to show 5 West some love!

Right away when I asked for him not to be buzzed I wanted a scissor cut the back n forth started. Told me he was not able to use scissors on a kid because they move too much and it's dangerous. (I get the worry) Mr Pete did his first haircut (who was awesome) he used scissors no problem. Then two other awesome ladies did his hair as well no issue. My son definitely felt the negative energy already and acted on it. I should've trusted HIS instincts immediately. He knows who he doesn't like. Then he proceeded to tell me my son had too many cowlicks. He has ONE in the back of his head which is a swirl most boys tend to have. The rest I explained is because he went to sleep with wet hair and his natural wave took over. Starts cutting my son's hair without even a spritz of water. Gets annoyed when my son drops his binky. I then sat him on my lap and tried that way, and the frustration grew. I asked him can you still cut it fairly long if you used the buzzer and he replied that's what I've been trying to tell you. Um, sir, no you weren't. You had negative energy from the start and then told me I was being rude since I arrived. Anyone that knows me knows that is not my MO. I took my son and left. Now he has a wonderful cut. That was done WITH SCISSORS BTW! My son didn't like your attitude and neither did I! Never going back! Also stop smoking in your building it smells putrid in there. I'd love to give the others who we've worked with 10 stars but this jerk deserves zero. If you don't like your job do something else.

I enjoy the decor and availability of styling products. Their customer service is top notch. They offer drinks while you wait and have tv and music playing to help with the wait. Each customer is cared for and appointments may run a little over, however, that is wonderful when you know your barber will give you the same attention to detail with no pressure about time constraints. It's got an old timey mixed with modern punk kind of feel to it that I really am all about it. But the punk vibe is only that, because the guys here are as nice and helpful as can be. It had been a seriously long time since I've gotten my hair professionally cut and don't even really know what I can do with it, but I was in good hands with Robby (literally). He asked me a whole bunch of questions and gave me some ideas and I went for it and was incredibly happy with how everything turned out. So much so that I think I'll go back to having a barber on the regular again. At some point I would definitely want to try a professional shave too, but right now I don't have anything worth shaving! They take appointments and every barber has their own personal contact card to make the process even easier for you to make future appointments. I typically go every 2-3 weeks for a cut and I never have to wait longer than 5 minutes for a seat as they have plenty of barbers available at all times. Prices are average, $20 for a cut and bead clean up. Your barber will work with you for whatever you need. Whilst I haven't gone to many other shops, I have no reason to with this shop around.
