Aspen will charge you ridiculous fees for nearly everything to get every bit of money out of you,…read moreespecially when you move out. I moved out twice, both from rooms which had longer term pervious occupants and regardless if the damages are really your fault or the previous people living in your room; Aspen will charge you fees, fees and more fees (1 broken blind in common area is $37.50 per person out of 4). Also a cheap rubber wristband for the pool is $10 if you don't return it... as if they reuse a cheap wristband. Before moving in with people I know I lived with random roommates which had lived in the 4 bedroom apartment awhile before me. Despite only being there for 6 months I was charged for the wear and tear they caused in the common areas including the ridiculous explosion of caramel which was not my fault. Ok... Once moving in with familiar faces and my brother I moved out after a year. My fees were $513 this time and again included more common area fees which I again did no contribute to. They don't seem to factor into the amount of time spent in the room into the fees and also charged me for bedroom painting damages which is ridiculous as I did not damage the paint on the walls in my short time there. Despite days of vigorous cleaning which you must do after you move out, they will charge you $80 cleaning fees even if the rooms are spotless. At building 7 there is also not nearly enough parking especially when people who don't even live there park to use the Basketball court. Negatives aside the location of Aspen is great, the Apartments are nice and staff is friendly. I'll put it like this: A good place to live if you're a UNCC student but a HORRIBLE place to move out of. Edit: Nothing is a greater motivator for a negative Yelp review then stupid overpriced fees upon moving out! Stop being so greedy.

I…read morewould recommend coming in with your roommates because I had trouble with the ones they gave me. It is definitely not the safest place to live. There were car breakins and car robberies and the gates don't make it any safer, however it is Charlotte so I half expected most of these things. One of the things I love most about arcadia is its maintenance. If you fill out a form on your resident portal, your issues get fixed very quickly (you can choose how long). Also the best thing, undoubtedly, is the beautiful architecture. It genuinely makes me feel better on my way to class.

Terrible place to live. Do not let the pretty buildings fool you!…read more 1. DO NOT LET THE GATE FOOL YOU!!!!!! The gates that are in place to add a sense of safety do not work!!! The whole year my daughter lived at Arcadia, the gate was only closed ONE time when I visited and I visited a lot. The gate is always "broken". Every time we would inquire about it being open we were always told it will be fixed soon. The gate was one of the main reasons we chose Arcadia for our college sophomore and when we went on the tour this was a selling point. Well, with it always being open and anyone coming and going whenever they wanted my daughter did not feel safe at all especially when coming home at night as a female and I did not feel safe with her there AT ALL. 2. One day when my daughter's female roommate was taking a shower in comes the maintenance worker. She was scared to death. He may have knocked at the front door, but no way for her to hear from the shower So in he comes into the apartment and when he heard the shower he continued in and there he was when she got out of the shower. Yes it was reported but all she got was an "I am sorry" from the office. 3. The move out system is not set up to protect the residents. Residents simply drop keys off at the office so no one comes out and checks the apartment while the residents are present. I knew this would be an issue and sure enough it was. We got a bill for a missing piece of furniture. We have had to call multiple times, talk to multiple people, even go back to the office and finally months later the charge was taken off. This could have all been avoided if there was an appropriate move out system that is resident friendly to ensure the apartment is looked at prior to turning keys in. We should not have to take our time to defend ourselves multiple times and to multiple people and levels to ensure we are not inappropriately charged.

"The Standard" is remarkedly standard, if even that. It is a very expensive place to live especially for having targeted ASU college students as their main customer base, on top of raising prices next year for a completely identical unit, and bare minimum level of quality and maintenance. They also issue very hefty and unethical fines on the smallest of things, on top of a $3800 4br monthly rent (soon to be $4300+), and even other fines that we had received and were completely out of our control such as a moving out "couch fine" for a total of $3000 for a rip on the (cheap) couch that had been there before we had moved in... In our last month living there, we had going on about a month of a broken washer/dryer, and like other amenities that stopped working, several delayed repair responses for these issues. We had other management and fine issues as well throughout the two semesters renting here. I had even once woken up to management randomly walking through my room in the morning, among the other about a dozen times they have come by to "check up" on things. They had given the reason that they are "thinking to fix" certain things, and then proceed to just take a walk through our rooms and bathrooms, and don't fix any of these "things" during the time that we lived there... Do not recommend renting here, they know how to empty your wallets and treat you like children.

I would advise anyone considering having their ASU student moving here to look closely at the total…read morecost of living, not just the base rent. The management adds ridiculous hidden fees and monthly 'convenience' and fees that were not clearly emphasized during the tour. Most notably, they charge a staggering $46 fee just to pay rent with a credit card. It feels like a constant cash grab rather than a service. Renters beware: the price you see is definitely not the price you will pay.

If I could give zero stars, I would…read more I've lived here for over two years and I honestly can't recommend this place to anyone. The internet is absolutely horrible and it's been an ongoing issue since the day I moved in. Constant outages, unusable speeds, and empty promises that "it's being worked on." They even said they'd reimburse us multiple times for the inconvenience, but of course... that never actually happens. Dealing with the leasing office is a nightmare. The property manager and leasing agents are rude, dismissive, and honestly just caddy. Instead of helping you as a resident, they seem more focused on finding ways to squeeze every dollar they can out of you. They hit you with ridiculous fees after the fact, often without warning, and will conveniently "forget" to mention certain things up front until it's too late. It feels shady and predatory. And don't even get me started on the amenities. So many things they promise when you tour the complex either haven't worked for most of the time I've lived here or were never actually finished in the first place. For 2+ years, multiple advertised amenities have been broken, closed, or simply not installed at all. On top of all that, car break-ins are a huge problem here. It happens way too often, and management does next to nothing about it. It's ridiculous to be paying this much and still feel unsafe where you live. Overall, this place is all about appearances. They sell you on a lifestyle they don't deliver, then nickel and dime you while you deal with unreliable internet, unhelpful staff, safety concerns, and amenities that may or may not exist. Look elsewhere!! It's not worth the stress or the money, especially in university area.

The property is beautiful and always kept cleaned and well maintained. My apartment was a dream! Pros: Best management I have ever dealt with. Maxwell goes above and beyond and deserves a raise if he hasn't gotten one already. He was so attentive and kind the entire time my child and I lived there. He always responds quickly and makes sure you are happy as a resident. Ground Keeping - Stacy was also amazing! He too was attentive and always made sure you were comfortable and lacking nothing. The turnaround time for maintenance requests was so fast! (Also deserves a raise!) The woman who kept the insides of the building/lobby (so sorry I can't believe I'm not remembering her name) is one of the kindest women I have met. We always had a quick chat and was so pleasant. I observed her at times when cleaning and she was always thorough and never took short cuts! She too deserves a raise! I mention these three particularly because they made my time there feel valued and safe. I never had to worry. The rest of the team always had a smile, was kind and helpful as well! CONS: Literally zero! Suggestions: The only one would be maybe in the future have a heated pool since it is open all year around. Thank you Kendry for a memorable stay! It was seriously the best!
