What can I say about the owner Ron? Not a lot of good stuff and the work done is not that clean…read more Please don't go to this business when it comes to metal structural, welding beams to column. Summary of what happened: 1) Ron gave me a package deal with delivery. Saying that they have a truck in house. 2) He forced me to make a decision because is going on vacation. 3) He promised that work will be done while he is out. 4) There was no progress and when he returned. The package deal changed and didn't include delivery now. 5) There was a changed in the direction of the structural engineer when it comes to additional weld. The issue is, Ron didn't disclose and doesn't have a clue on how long it will take to do a Moment Frame welding. At the end, I was charge an additional $1800. This is without getting my approval before he start working on the changes. For an expert welder and has been in the business for 35 years. How come Ron can't clearly provide a timeframe of how long the job will be. Clearly, he want additional money with an open tab. In summary, I see Ron as your typical contractor that will add cost without customer clearly understanding and approval. Which is not acceptable in any business. He will charge you to the max until you fight back. If you want to do business with Ron, have a contract signed with all the details. At this point, I recommend not doing business with this company.

Everything is good when they are TAKING your money and business. But, once it goes the opposite way (refund), Roger gets NASTY -- I didn't see this side of him before, always with a smile because while taking money in. I brought some parts to be replicated; 1" shaft with the center with a 2" diameter cylinder with 1" flanged bearings. I was suggested another way to "make" the part that would make everything more "simplified" for me, okay, sure. I wasn't sure what he meant, but after minutes of trying to explain to me, I just went with whatever Roger suggested since he would know better about the mechanics of machine parts, etc., He just told me that I would have to source the bearings myself, which is what I did. He asked me if the diameter could be smaller and I said yes. So I trusted his word and went with it. When I picked up the item, he said, "If it doesn't work out, just bring it back". The thing is, I complained after because what he sold me for almost $400, was NOT SOMETHING HE "MADE". It was a part that could be bought online (~16", 1" shaft with 2 shaft collars), which can be found on Amazon for $35 (shaft) + $10 (2 collars). He then said that he bought it McMasterCarr, then quickly changed his wording to "WE MADE IT". So which is it? (I will never know, but my assumption is he got it at McMasterCarr, as he first stated, or another retailer). Then he said, "I'M NOT HERE TO SAVE YOU MONEY." JUST WOW!! It's my fault for not understanding what he was trying to sell me, but it's obvious my lack of knowledge was taken advantage of--I let Roger do what he does. I believe there is a big difference between MAKING something and up charging for labor, etc., vs. buying $40 dollars worth of parts and CHARGING 9X-10X more!! Especially, to someone (me) whom he kept calling "friend" after all the visits/business I gave him. When he did this "work", I also dropped off a small part that had a broken screw stuck in it. He said it was FREE OF CHARGE to extract it. Anyway, when he agreed to refund me for the $400 (16" piece of 1" shaft), BUT he charged me $85 for the screw extraction that he told me that was free! From ~$400 refund, I received $85 less. This costs him nothing (almost literally) to fix easily. $85 FOR A SCREW EXTRACTION--HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!! He gave it back to me, with a new screw, "I also gave you a screw". (Oh, gee, Thanks, I guess.)--But I didn't need that screw as I have 100's (if not 1000's) of these screws for my parts -- so he acted like giving me this screw in place of the broken one is a huge hook up, after I spent thousands and thousands of dollars here. I paid for this with my personal credit card, but he made out the refund check to the company I work for. So I asked him if he could cut the check out in my name since I'm the one who paid for it. He said, "just give it to your company and have them pay you." I explained to him that I can't do that because of accounting issues, etc. He got mad and he snatched the check out of my hand with an attitude. This right was the last straw. I was still going to give him more business (which I even told him, thanks for the refund and making this right, I'll be back). He told me, "I DONT CARE ABOUT MAKING THINGS RIGHT AND WHAT YOU THINK, I DONT NEED TO RESTORE FAITH IN YOU OR YOUR COMPANY". Okay, fine. ^Great attitude, perfect way to lose business after the fact that I stated that I hope this one issue won't affect future business and that I would be bringing more business. Roger shouldn't be interacting with customers on the front line if that's his attitude and represents your company. On the other hand, Alex is very polite. While Roger was deflecting the situation, blaming it on me, arguing who said what, this and that. Alex is the one who apologized on behalf of C&H Metal with a smile on his face, while Roger was steaming mad at the situation -- just the way he snatched the check out of my hand says it all. ALEX IS THE REAL MVP at C&H Metal, too bad he's not at top management, because management up top is clearly lacking customer service skills and lacking know-how to keep the customer acquisition costs low. I can bet they'll see this review and Google what CAC is because they don't know. Or maybe, they are making so much money, they don't care how they lose a few customers the way they do. Roger (mgmt) just knows how to take money with a smile on their face until you complain about something, then it gets nasty. This is the type of business you don't want to give business to. If you do give business to them, good luck. Hopefully, it's a short stint because eventually an issue will arise, and Roger has a short fuse, and you may not like the way he handles it. This experience was a blessing in disguise because I found a better and CHEAPER shop to do work for me.

His attention to detail was outstanding. He noticed the factory brackets weren't even all the same, fabricated the correct pieces, and finished the final welding onsite to get everything perfectly aligned. The clearance and finished fit look factory. He was timely, professional, and treated the job like it was his own house. The value was excellent too. Having something custom-built from scratch could easily have been a $3,000+ project, and Jose found a much smarter way to get a finished, custom result. Highly recommend him for any fabrication work where precision matters.

The rug around the plate didn't come out that great, but I did tell them that this is a track car (and that I'll probably be gutting the interior eventually), so I'll do what I can to clean the rug up a bit for now and reinstall the heel plate. I would've given them 5 stars but for that, because they do solid metal work as evidenced by my floor fix, and Jose showed me some of the custom industrial and automotive work he'd done previously.

I worked here as a welder for about 3 months, and honestly, this was one of the worst work…read moreexperiences I've had. I was eventually let go because I was told the supervisors weren't happy with me, but what really bothered me was the way I was trained and treated from the beginning. I was brought into the company with incorrect or very limited training, and then expected to perform like I had already been properly trained. Peter was one of the supervisors over me, and in my experience, he did not have the welding knowledge needed to properly train someone. There were times when I needed actual instruction or guidance, but instead I felt like I was being criticized for things I had never been properly shown. The supervision in general was terrible. My experiences with both Peter and Jason were consistently negative. The communication was disrespectful, and I never felt like I was being treated like someone who was genuinely trying to learn and do a good job. One situation that really stuck with me was when Peter made a comment about me while I had my welding apron tied around my waist. He told me, "I look like a girl." I didn't even say anything to him about it because I was there to work and didn't want unnecessary problems. Somehow, later on, I was the one being treated like I was causing an issue. At one point, Peter even threatened to send me home because he thought I was arguing with him when I was simply trying to communicate. The shop environment itself was another major issue. There wasn't adequate ventilation for welders, which is especially concerning when you're spending hours welding and dealing with welding fumes. The condition of the building was also poor. The insulation from the roof was falling apart and coming through the cheap ceiling in the shop. It made the workplace feel poorly maintained and not like an environment where employee safety and working conditions were being taken seriously. There also wasn't a consistent amount of work, and the equipment and resources available were limited. It was difficult to stay productive and develop as a welder when there wasn't always enough work available and the shop didn't have the resources or equipment I expected to properly support the work. What makes the whole situation frustrating is that I actually came into this job wanting to work. I'm young, but I take welding seriously. I wanted to learn, improve my skills, gain experience, and build a career in the trade. Instead, I felt like I was put into the position with poor training, limited resources, poor working conditions, and then blamed when things didn't work out. There was also a very negative atmosphere in the shop. Instead of feeling like a place where younger workers could learn from more experienced people, it often felt like there was unnecessary negativity toward younger employees who were motivated and trying to move forward. Looking back, this experience showed me exactly what kind of work environment I don't want to be part of. The biggest problems, in my opinion, were the lack of proper training, poor communication, lack of consistent work, limited equipment and resources, poor ventilation, and the overall condition of the shop. If management actually wants to improve this company, I would start with the supervision, training, and basic working conditions. New employees need proper instruction, clear expectations, constructive criticism, adequate equipment, proper ventilation, and a workplace that is maintained to a reasonable standard. Employees also shouldn't have to put up with disrespectful comments from supervisors just because they're trying to keep their job. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to someone looking for a place where they can learn welding, grow their skills, and be treated professionally. I came in wanting to work and improve, but I left feeling like the company failed to provide the training, environment, equipment, and professionalism I was expecting.
