Miracle Fix: Jose and Lorenzo Saved My Miata. Answer to my prayers. Expert welders and fabricators. My Mazda developed a loud rattling and knocking noise underneath and no one could figure out why. I went to eight different shops. Each one gave me a different guess: heat shields, engine mounts, catalytic converter, "play in the differential," you name it. Nothing made sense, and the noise was so annoying at red lights and/or with foot on the brake . Finally, one honest shop (Thanh Auto in Garden Grove) spotted the real culprit: a big clean crack in the aluminum mounting bracket attached to the differential housing. Every mechanic I spoke with afterward told me the same thing: "Only solution is to drop the entire differential and replace it." Translation: very expensive. Thanh's expert ( Keith) suggested welding the crack, but every welding shop I contacted said the same thing -- "No space. We'd have to remove the differential before welding. Almost as costly as replacing the whole diff." Then I found Jose at OC Fabrication on Yelp. Within minutes of sending him a photo, he replied ...fast, professional, and confident. He said it might be doable without removing the diff, but he needed to inspect in person. He even gave me two honest estimates: a higher price if the diff needed to come out, and a much lower one if he could reach it in place. He squeezed me in after hours the very next day. He and his welder Lorenzo crawled under the car, inspected the crack, and confirmed they could do it without removing anything. They carefully jacked the differential to realign the broken ear, cleaned the aluminum, welded it beautifully, and then reinforced it with additional metal. All in under 90 minutes. When we test drove the car afterward -- night and day. Smooth. Quiet. Solid. The rattling and knocking that haunted me for a weeek? Gone. Jose told me straight: most shops wouldn't even attempt this kind of repair. But he and Lorenzo took it on with skill, confidence, pride in their craft, and real customer care. Starting with the initial quote request through Yelp, Jose was nothing but phenomenal, responsive, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I needed to relocate a new winch that I purchased for my trailer for my auto towing needs. I relayed an initial thought that I had on how to place the winch with provided pictures but the design that Jose came was perfect. Jose was super accommodating because I had to pick up my trailer from Pasadena to bring it down to Orange County on a Friday night which would be really terrible during rush-hour traffic but he was available to receive the trailer late at night. The finished fabrication came out perfect and it looked great. The custom battery tray was a perfect touch to conveniently hook up the battery to the winch. I had 3 dining room chairs that have an aluminum base and started wobbling. I could not find anyone to attempt to work on them and the ones that would wanted to charge more than the price for a new chair. I reached out to Jose and he was willing to fix them for an extremely low price. I brought the chairs and he reinforced all base corners and did a phenomenal job in a short period of time. He had to do more work than initially intended but still kept the price we had originally agreed upon even though it should have been more. This is a way overdue review, a year late. My apology Jose. Jose & Orange County Fabrication are exceptional! I went to a Ford repair shop today and had a full inspection done. I pointed out to them to double check chassis where the steering box is located & they said it's probably a lot stronger than stock. This is where OCF repaired 2 cracks by welding & reinforcing it with plates on October 18, 2024. Jose was super helpful & his customer service is top notch. Work quality is superb. Sense of urgency is excellent, dropped it off in the morning & got it done by 5:30. In between, Jose was in close communication and provided updates. Impressive! I was looking for a dual swingout for my F-150 as no one really makes one. During the quote, Jose was very confident that they could use my current bumper and add it on. After dropping off the truck it took roughly 3 weeks to finish plus powdercoat/install. Very happy with the product. They were able to achieve keeping the bumper's high clearance while keeping the swingout strong and light as possible. They did go over the quote a bit, but that was due to an additional request I made plus it was a little more complex. Once he has your item, he will swindle you the best he can. When his games have begun, he will damage your equipment and include sub-par work. As an additional service, he will leave you hostile voicemails attempting to corner you to pay him more than the estimate without completing the work agreed upon. Brought it over so Andy can look at it and he said they can do it. One of the thin I like about them is that they work on an appointment basis. They basically give you a date to drop off your car and they basically start work right when you drop it off which means your car isn't just sitting in their shop waiting to be worked on. I bought a fourth generation 4Runner and took it to Jose for a lift. Once the parts came in, he scheduled me right away. I was pretty tired of driving around a stock 4Runner, it felt like I had a rental car, so I was really happy that he accommodated me immediately! The team there is super friendly and hyped to help you. I dropped my car off at 9 o'clock on a Saturday morning and as my ride came to pick me up, I noticed they already had started working on it. Four hours later the truck was ready and it came out incredible! I had already ordered tires and wheels from another tire place so I went there to get those installed the same day. This is the first time I've lifted a truck, so I learned the hard way that sometimes the wheels (I got Falken Wild Peaks), will rub against the fender. I left them a message Sunday that this was happening and Jose called me back first thing Monday morning. Even though they had a custom build offsite they were working on all day, they squeeze me after at 4 o'clock, and fixed the noisy tire rub. This was not even their responsibility, as my tires/wheels went in last and we're probably too big. In a crazy Covid and political world, it's pretty rare to do business with people who do the right thing and are generally caring and concerned about their work and others. I couldn't be happier. I have an off road CVT trailer. I needed to have the rack where my tent is bolted to be much higher. CVT doesn't make the taller racks anymore and suggested I find a fabricator. I found them on offer up. Took a chance and they had me who is not a transmission guy pull my broke transmission out of my rzr for them to install a new case and fix any other damage. They charged me $1,600 which seemed good and got back without oil which I figured was weird. Installed in my rzr and added fresh oil, took out to the dunes and the second trip not 10 hours on fresh rebuild and amazing bearings my rzr stops and will only go forward in low. Had them pick up for warranty work since it was under a year. They called me and said there was sand packed in there and they can't warranty me because I knew it leaked and I supposedly intentionally drove it and got it stuck which is never do and buried sand in it. Didn't send me any pics of any work whatsoever so I can't see any of the damage. I asked them why would it leak if they bench tested for leaks before sending it out and they said they don't do that so that's on me again. Me pissed that they are blaming me on the leak I didn't just bring back that I didn't see until seeing it on the floor of my trailer. They said they will do me a solid and only charge parts not labor to save me money. They send me an invoice of the parts and the web site for the special bearings and non of the prices jive. They charged me $250 more than what I came up with so now I'm out even more. I just wanted my car fixed right the first time so I'm not into a rebuilt transmission for what a new one would cost. I would recommend they stick with fabrication not rzr transmissions. read more
