However, this was a pleasant, friendly dining experience. We both had the granola and yogurt bowl, which came with a choice of muffin, croissant, or chocolate croissant. I went for the chocolate croissant which was fresh and flaky, with melty chocolate on the inside. The granola was full of fruit, pumpkin seeds, and small pieces of dark chocolate. Delicous place to eat if you are stuck in the airport. Service was friendly and quick and they were clear to tell us the window that they could get us our food which was helpfull if you are waiting for a flight Ambiance was decent considering that we were in the airport. I love how airports have evolved past cafeteria style food over the past 20 or so years to genuinely good restaurants. It's gotten where I now expect a great experience at the airport. How crazy is that? Archibald Microbrasserie certainly belongs in that company. The decor is inviting. Everyone gets a comfortable seat, with most being comfortable easy chairs. The server asked us when our flights departed as we sat, which was a nice touch. Service was brisk throughout. I ordered a Belgian wheat beer. Archibald's brews their own, and they have quite a variety. The Belgian wheat is a solid offering. I do wish I weren't so tired, otherwise I would have been happy to try another beer. The food arrived in short order. My son and I split the prosciutto pizza, which was adorned with goat cheese and shaved Parmesan. The prosciutto was in clumps, and was more chewy than I would have liked. But, the flavor was good, and the pizza was obviously freshly made. I would have ordered the pizza well-done, since it needed a bit more of a char. My wife shared the fish and chips with her mom, and I wish I had ordered that instead. The fish was perfectly crispy, with a light whitefish that makes you think you're eating something that's almost healthy. As great as that was, I really think the coleslaw was the star. It tasted like they made it with the seasoning you might have in a dill pickle (celery salt and some dill came through with each bite). Americans (like me) might get wide-eyed when looking at the prices, but look again. The exchange rate is very favorable now: the excellent $12 sangrias and beers are less than $9 American. The $26 pizza set is back $19 American. And, the whole bill including drinks and 20% tip worked out to $98 American for 4 of us. This is the best option you have at the Montréal Airport to sit down and have an almost relaxed meal; they ask you if you have 40 minutes until your flight before giving you a table, which makes sense; although all the staff are very quick and efficient, you still need to give them time to serve you. Had the Salmon Satay which was not bad. Portions on smaller side but good mixture of ingredients. They have 6-7 draft choices on tap and chose the Belgian White which was crisp and fresh tasting. Service- (4.25/5) - I expected slower and they were faster. Friendly servers. Atmosphere- (4/5) - not a bad set up with tables booths and even fireplaces. I found an outlet even and was able to plug in my laptop. Overall- (4/5) - not bad for an airport restaurant. As far as Airport (after security) restaurants go, Archibald micro and resto was pretty darn good. We snagged a nice seat closer to the entrance and experienced friendly and efficient service, which would have been an extra plus if we were in a hurry to catch a flight. Gayle and I shared a tasty Tocos Crevettes plate over a glass of white wine for her and a beer from me. In hindsight, maybe we should have chosen something more local like a smoked meat sandwich or poutine, but we were very happy with our selections. We weren't soon going to get to Cairo or Luxor, and what we thought was an hour layover turned into a 24hr+ layover in Montreal. We did not have time to stop in this brewery on our first arrival into YUL but after a medical emergency onboard landed us back here for an overnight stay, we paid them a visit the next afternoon. I wasn't quite in the mood for a beer so we had two mimosas and later shared their classic poutine dish. The decor inside of Archibald is really nice, I would have loved to snag a table beside the fireplace area but we were seated in another area along the outside. Service wasn't super quick but we were in zero hurry. I just wanted to sit down and relax to sip on some drinks and not have to be in my mask for so many hours since we were departing on a fairly lengthy flight into Egypt from this airport. This is probably the nicest and widest variety of food and bevvie option you'll find in this terminal. We were able to pass a good amount of time here and were grateful for our visit. We had Air Canada vouchers from the evening before so we used these but I think our total was around $40-$50CAN. I'd recommend if you are looking for a bite to eat and a beer. read more

It's decorated so nicely inside (a la Canadiana) and it's so comfortable, you can easily forget you're in an airport. They've even got a fireplace. They have a great selection of beer. After the quickest check in of life We decided to celebrate with one last montreal meal before we took off and we thought let's try this place and not our normal Spot where my friend works. As soon as we walked up we were greeted by a petite brunette hostess who showed us to a sad looking table in the back which wasn't exactly my ideal spot to celebrate before leaving. We asked if we could have a booth and she stated it's only for groups of 4 or more which we weren't but decided we wanted the Booth as the restaurant was empty, she gave us the booth and told us rudely that she will move us if people came in which we understood 100% (nobody came) We had a nice waitress who brought us a little plastic Container of olives right away, we ordered two ipas and a burger and poutine. Drinks came right away a bit sour for my liking but went well with the food. Food was okay but needs improvements. The burger was of good quality meat but it had no flavour or seasoning the meat and needed a few extra packets of ketchup. The poutine was good but the sauce ruins it, for 17 dollars you don't get many curds which is a bit of a let down but I didn't expect much more than that for airport food. read more

Came here to eat when I was in the middle of my 3 hour layover from Calgary, Alberta to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. I got a delicious smoked salmon "sandwich" but it was an open faced sandwich and it had dill sauce on it and some leafy greens on top too. Located outside gate 50, this restaurant stands out due to its outside decor. There is " outdoor seating" which looks like dining on a sidewalk. Plenty of indoor seating, booths and tables. The decor is very "wildernessy". I am sitting under a moosehead. I am going to name him Pierre. The lights are mini chandeliers adorned with moose horns. Booths are covered with black and red checkered fabric like outdoors shirts. Metal squares align the ceiling. There are TVs, one has the flight departure gate schedule, one has hockey (of course) and I do see the reflection of a football game. On the menu is 3 pages of craft beers, mostly Belgium. In fact microbrasserie (micro brewery) is in the name. The food is traditional French Canadian cuisine like poutine and duck. The pizzas look and smell delicious! At the airport, I have to kill and I am hungry. My sister and I wanted a sit down meal, and enjoy the down time. The hostess is super sweet. The restaurant has feeling of being in woods with fantastic Latino pop music with subtlety. Our server was fantastic, helpful with my choice of wine. My drink and food came very quickly. My white wine perfect; onion rings with coarse maple syrup delightful, and my tuna tataki was good with mango, coriander and kale salad, maybe more spices would made the whole dish a perfection. What to do in an airport when your flight isn't for a few hours... I say eat.. eat is what you do. The Montreal airport had several great eating options, but this place looked like the most fun, with outdoorsy decor and big fluffy couches. We ordered a beer flight, a prosecco, calamari and poutine. It was all too much, i.e. rich, but it was delicious. It was also great to sit on the "patio" and watch all of the travelers pass by. We had a three-hour layover here and it was during this span of time that we were able to try one of these great restaurants inside the Montreal airport -- Archibald Microbrasserie! We had been strolling inside the airport and window-browsing all of the restaurants and shops. We spotted this restaurant which had a large "outdoor" space with large sofa chairs and cozy seats out on this make-believe patio. There were plants and wooden elements too to make it seem like you were outdoors. The interior of the restaurant was very modern with hipster lights and a woodsy theme. They had stuffed moose and deer heads mounted on the walls with chandeliers made with antlers. Part of the intrigue was that there was actually a line-up forming outside the restaurant for guests to enter. I'd never seen a restaurant inside of an airport with a wait line before! Luckily, when we entered, there was no line-up too. We chose to dine in at the best time! When asked whether we would be eating or drinking and I replied with "Both", the hostess led us inside where we were immediately served with water, the menu, and a container of green olives. Archibald Microbrasserie is known for their beer in 50s style cartoons. Because of that, we ordered the Blonde Ale to try. We also ordered two starters to share. Mmm, the Matante (Blonde Ale) was so smooth!! It was so good and one of the best beers I have had. It was light without being too stout either. The Archibald Fondues caught my attention right away. These three crispy fried packets contained four types on cheese inside on a smear of chipie caramel and golden raisin chutney. (Their menu is very extensive and contains a lot of uncommon selections too like foie gras, different types of tartare, and more. If we were dining in for a full meal, I definitely would have tried those unique dishes.) I have had fried cheese (like brie) before, but it wasn't so smooth and potato-y like this one. It was quite good and definitely had to be eaten with the sweet accompaniments to taste good. The Fried Calamari were seasoned with homemade spices and came with spicy mayonnaise. It was pretty good and presented in a cute mini wok. Archibald Microbrasserie is the perfect place in the Montreal International Airport for a meal and drink. This restaurant is so good that it can stand alone and definitely can attract a lot of customers outside of the airport too. read more

The only reason I went in mainly because it was the only sit-down restaurant near my gate that looked really nice from the outside. If you are in the rush to catch your flight, skip this one FAST. It took my waitress forever to show up to take my order then even longer for her to come back. I thought I had plenty of time, but then I had to ask for my bill while stuffing my food in because EVERYONE was taking their sweet time. I ordered some omelette + Chorizo + potatoes + a bagel & smoothie. The presentation was above average, but my omelette was really cold, so I just kept eating my potatoes instead since it was a bit hotter. My bagel was a bit burned and it didn't come with cream cheese or anything so I just had it with jelly which made it taste pretty weird. Honestly, the theme here is that if you want an extra of anything, it's absolutely the waiting game & will cost ya. Hungry for breakfast during my layover in Montreal. Walked around and this place caught my eye. Kind of a Scottish meets Abercrombie & Fitch vibe - plaid and trophy stuffed fish on the walls. I was seated at a 2-seater with push leather chairs in front of an electronic fireplace. The warmth from it on this unusually cool end of summer day was welcome. Yes, they place is a microbrewery concept but just too early to start a work trip with beer. I ordered the omelettes with mushrooms and a coffee. The food was dynamite. The omelettes had a mild cheese, grilled (what to me looked like emoji) mushrooms, wilted arugula, potatoes, and a mustard-y like sauce. It came with a side of roasted diced potatoes (yes, more potatoes) and a mini bucket of a few pieces of toast with those single serving packages of peanut butter and jellies. Mind you, this is not what is normally get. In my book, a meal is not a meal if it doesn't have meat! But this was quite good. The omelettes were savory and the arugula and mustard gave it a pleasant spiciness. The potatoes were roasted perfectly with a nice crispy crust. Even the toast (white and multigrain) had a very nice light crunch to it. And most important of all when it comes to breakfast - a never ending pour of piping hot coffee. The service was very pleasant and attentive. But it wasn't very busy at the time so perhaps this changes during peak times. My friend and I landed late on a Wednesday night and we had a 3 hours connection before flying to Quebec. We were starving and wanted to absolutely eat at this restaurant. We arrived and they had entry closed. We asked if they were closed and they said that they just did but made an exception and let us have a quick meal and drinks. This was one of the only sit-down restaurants around where we were, and it seemed pretty inviting. The big seats at the front were all taken, so we sat inside. It looked like it had a very Canadian theme, with a lot of dark wood, red and dark brown accents, moose and other nature-related decor. The music, however, didn't match at all, since it was really loud, Top 40/pop from the 90s, which I usually really enjoy, but because of the large seats, I was seated a lot further away from my husband and it was hard enough to hear him without having to lean forward every second. My husband was really craving a poutine, so he ordered the only one that was on the menu. It had cheese curds, smoked meat, pickled onions, beer gravy, mustard, and this hard caramel toffee thing. Honestly, I found it really weird. I had a bite and it was absolutely not the Montreal poutine we're used to, and though I always like to try remixed versions of different foods, this was a miss for the both of us. The pickled onions were the kind that you find in shawarmas and seemed odd instead of white/yellow onions, the dijon mustard was overwhelming, and the super sweet toffee thing was soooo strange to me, since the rest was savoury and it was so out of place in terms of flavor. The portion was huge, but for nearly $20, it should've been! I got the beef tataki since they ran out of the deer, which was super disappointing. I also found it expensive for the portion size that I got (3 pieces), but that's usually the case for tataki. The beef was more of a medium rare than just a sear, but had some nice Asian flavors, with sesame and maybe some ginger/soy. The salad was really good, with arugula, cherry tomatoes, fresh dill, large Parmesan shavings, and some olive oil. Our server was really great, friendly and attentive (one of the main reasons for the third star), but the food was just okay, and for the price point, way too expensive for the quality/quantity, depending on what you're eating. If you want to eat here but also save some cash before flying off somewhere else, I'd suggest just grabbing a couple of beers and a snack to share. read more

I ordered a pound of smoked chicken wings with BBQ whisky sauce and Sweet n' Sour sauce. The wings were delicious! They were crispy on the outside and hot and moist on the inside. There was a hint of smoke. The sauces were tasty too. Alex was my server. She was friendly and took good care of me. I'm at the Montreal airport a couple times a year and I didn't know it existed ... apparently it's been there for about two years. What a great find! Alas, because I was continuing on to Saint John and renting a car, I had a Diet Pepsi rather than trying one of their beers. It looked cozy yet spacious, even the sitting area in the airport walkway have big wooden chairs with blankets and cushions...unlike these metal or plastic chairs in typical airport restaurant. For airport food it's quite good. I had the tuna tartar. The apples on to were not really my thing but picking them off was easy as they are julienne style. The apple flavour did add a brightness to the dish but the slices themselves were a bit too much (for me). I could see why others would enjoy it though. I also had the fondue 3 ways.
