We did 2 different jobs with Elijah. For the first job, he brought his apprentice James and both did a great job, didn't have a problem, it was fast, clean, and organized, and went smoothly, which is the reason we brought them back to a second but more extensive job. Elijah had been good at having a conversation about what works best, what can we do to cut costs, etc. So he recommended charging us hourly instead of a set quote and guaranteed that it would be cheaper. The job was to re-wire one side of the house and run some new outlets/switches. The walls were open and I even taped a picture with description of what kind of outlet/switch I wanted in every single spot. Dummy proof, because again, I felt like it was an extensive job and a lot of small details so wanted to make sure it was clear as water. It was a 2-day job. The first day, he brought another guy, Bryan, to help him. They were both on the go and fast! Non-stop working up and down. Then, Elijah told me that for the second day, he wasn't going to be there, it was going to be only Bryan and he even told me not to worry about it since he was trained, etc. Second day came along, Bryan was slower than a turtle and was on his phone watching videos/texting. He will get back to the truck to get stuff dragging his feet with his eyes locked in on his phone, what happened to speedy Bryan from the day before? Bryan left to get more cable because he said he ran out, not a big deal but I wasn't happy of him being on the phone and being slow. Listen, if he was always slow then that's a different story but he was quick when Elijah was around and was never on his phone. I expressed my concern of the speed of his work and he didn't believe me, he was actually upset at me for saying that his worker was slow because he wasn't here. Bryan "finished" the job and Elijah immediately sent me an invoice without even making sure that the job was done right, not even asked if everything worked, etc. And on top of that the invoice was more than both estimates he provided (set quote and hourly) plus adding the extra time that Bryan took his sweet time. Asking for money but some switches/outlets weren't working... So they came a third day. They placed a smart switch on the wrong wall and even had the audacity to ask if it was ok to leave it as is because didn't want to run the cable through... Then, I was also charged extra for the "Ooopsies" they had to fix. I later came to find out how they left a cable hanging like a swing on the attic (probably when they ran out of cable), and when they install the new outlets wasn't code, I could go on and on but a lot of things NOT to code... I wasn't going to call them back. Elijah handled it terribly when things went south. You don't side with your worker, you side with the work he delivers and make it right. We used to like Elijah but ended up very disappointed and sadly didn't deliver the quality of work I saw in the first job. Not a person of word, we agree upon an estimate and didn't honor it but in fact charge extra for the time to fix their own mistakes. They are probably fine for small electrical jobs like installing a fan, or hanging a TV, put up a chandelier, install an outdoor fixture, change an outlet, etc... but because of my overall experience I would never call them again. I would leave 1-star for the final outcome, but giving 2-stars for that first small job done right. read more

He responded to my quote request on Yelp within about 10 minutes, even on the evening of New Years Eve. I booked an appointment as he was able to work with my schedule and already had 5 star reviews on Yelp. He sent a text the morning he was to arrive to confirm my appointment and even sent a text stating he could come a little earlier if I was available. He arrived and had a face mask on and was professional and clean. He took a quick look around and was able to figure out the problem quickly (loose wire in an electrical outlet) and used his tools to find he issue. We had a breaker that started to act up (intermittently). I talked to Elijah and he had a crew out the next day. Brian was awesome, thought he had figured out the issue gave me a reasonable bill and left. The following day, the breaker started to act up again. I called Elijah that morning when they opened up. He had Brian out at the house within an hour. Three hours later he had found another problem on that circuit and repaired it. I've used Archimedes Electric twice since moving to a new home in Taft and would highly recommend them to anyone. The first time was to add a 240v outlet for our dryer since the new home only had a gas hook up. The second was to help install smart light switches that I had trouble with myself. For the dryer outlet, we had a spare 240v outlet in the garage, so we only needed that moved to our laundry room. I think we both thought this would be a bit easier than it turned out to be as the working area in our attic was not great. He was able to still get the job done, only having to cut out a small portion of the wall to finish stringing the wiring through to the new outlet. He offered to send someone out to patch the wall at no charge, but I honestly had forgotten about it until I wrote this review which probably tells you how noticeable the cut actually is. The second call was to help fix a DIY project gone wrong. I had tried to install smart switches, and it all went wrong. The fans were buzzing and only half the lights worked. Since we had just worked with Archimedes for the outlet, I decided to call them instead of banging my head against the wall anymore. He was able to get the lights working, and explained the fans were buzzing because the switches I had weren't compatible with fans. I had some that used three wires, but the fans needed four wires to work without the buzzing. Luckily the switches we bought had a four wire variant. After his advice, I was able to get the four wire versions and installed them myself. I've since installed about 8 more throughout our house with no issue. I really appreciated his advice because had he not explained the issue to me, I would have been stuck using a professional to install the rest of the switches. With his advice, I was able to avoid that and do it myself. Not everyone would take the time to do that because it meant he lose out on additional business from me for the same job. We already have a few more jobs we are planning on using Archimedes for once we have the rest of the house settled. I would recommend them to anyone who needs electrical work done honestly and professionally. read more
