Do not go to this gas station. I repeat, do not go to this gas station. I tried two different pumps using my credit card and none of them worked. I ended up speaking with a lady who was working there that day, but she was no help. Somehow, even though I did not get gas, they still charged my card. I talked to the manager that day who assured me they would return my money but they never did. I called again today 05/03 to speak with a manager. The guy I spoke with, a Somali, was extremely rude as well and threatened to hang up on me because "he is not forced to help me"! Talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE. I used my debit card in the machine and it told me to see cashier. I went. Put in my pin and the cashier told me I put the wrong pin. I know my pin. That was the right pin. I tried again and she told me I didn't put the right pin. I was really frustrated because I knew I input the right pin. She gave me a smirk and I left, not trying to slide my card one more time. I ended up calling my bank because with 3 failed attempts my card froze. Turns out I was typing the correct pin. Could they be up to something shady? Go back with a card. The machine tells me to go inside for a cashier. These people can't help me because it's a "credit card" even though I just used it at the market yesterday. When I see ARCO spelled Arco, I become ANAL. That's because ARCO is an informal acronym for yesteryear's Atlantic Richfield Co. The company's slogan is "straight-up gas," and here it's true: If you stop for gas and need another form of pit stop, you won't find a straight-up restroom. This station is straight-up cheap--inexpensive, if you prefer--accepts cash or debit, and has a food mart, but it's not ampm. So you gonna book it because this ARCO's not full-service? More like you can't cope with a chaotic crowd of cars on the corner. If you want cheap, name-brand gas and use Ralphs supermarkets' rewards, check out the Shell station on Sherman and White Oak. I don't know if it has a restroom. If it doesn't, there's boocoo fast-food stands nearby where you can TCB. I can't find this gas station anywhere in yelp. Kind of weird, this gas station is really popular in san fernando valley. I dont know why but for some reason this gas station has it's gas prices by at least five cents lower than anywhere else in the valley. This is what makes it so darn popular. Today gas 3.63 for unleaded 87. Everywhere else is currently at 3.69 those few cents make a difference. Of course with popularity comes the joy of waiting. It's always packed so plan on being here at least ten minutes. They have little snacks inside as all gas stations and the only con I really have is getting out of here once your finished. I really try not to pump gas at this location unless I absolutely have to. I have nothing against the service. It's the customers that use this location, the majority of them are selfish jerks. The pumps are set up so that you drive in one way and pull out the same direction. Unfortunately people choose to come in the opposite way and cut off others that have been waiting. When they do this it also make it hard for customer and them to leave. Causing the pumps to back up with cars. read more

My tire needed air so I stopped by this Arco to put some in on 1-28-20 around 8:45am. I saw that the coin slot to the air pump machine was not working, so my husband went in to ask the lady if it worked, she said yes, so he asked her to turned it on. Mind you, this lady was on her phone the whole time and not paying attention. So he walks back outside and the machine is still not on. He goes back inside and politely asks if he needed to pay for it. With an attitude, she says, "well you didn't ask me to turn it on". First of all, why would someone ask if a machine was working if their intention wasn't to use it? Second of all, if you would stop gossiping on your phone, maybe you could actually pay attention to what people are saying! She was so rude! Yeah, these Arco prices are cheap but I would rather pay more and get better customer service than have to deal with Grumpy Gossiping Griselda over there! read more

Horrible service for the following reasons: (1.) Their pay-station ate my debit card. It must happen often enough to customers because when I went up to the attendant inside, (2.) before I'm even done explaining what happened, he hands me this grip/vice and tells me to just pull it out. I explain again and he tells me to just go outside and wait. (3.) 1/2-hour later, some guy wanders his way out to where I'm waiting and he tells me they can't help me because they don't own the pay-station. He says the bank owns it and they don't open it. (4.) They were unwilling to give me the names of the bank or the armored truck service they worked with, or phone numbers I could use to contact them. (5.) They just shrugged me off and told me to leave them my name, phone number, address, and that they'd call me when the armored truck came by the next day. They weren't at all sympathetic to the fact that I was almost out of gas and that card was the only way I had to pay for it since they don't take credit cards, the card is the only way for me to withdraw money since the banks are closed on Sundays, and I had to go to work early the next day. They just wanted me to leave asap since my car was taking up a pump space and they didn't want the other customers hearing that their machines had problems. They gave me this slip of paper with a name and a phone number to call. Needless to say, I'm scrambling to get that card cancelled and get a new one. These guys are shady and rude. read more

I was refused service by the Latina on duty at 1:00 pm on Saturday . The pump kept saying it was in use and this only happens when the cashier locks the pump on her register or when it actually is in use. There was no one using the pump. I went to two different pay stations and encountered the same.problem. She opened the door and asked do I want change? I said what change. The pump is locked. Unlock it so I can use it. She claimed she did not lock it. I said #3 is broken, but #1 is locked. She refused to sell me gas! I told her I know how to use the system as I worked for ARCO for 15 yrs. I am now handicapped with a prosthetic leg, hip replacement and broken vertebrate on my back. I was not asking her to pump it, only to peemit me to do so. She was nasty and condescending. She referred to my disability as no reason I should get special service. I RECEIVED NO SERVICE. THIS PERSON SHOULD BE RETRAINED AND/OR REMOVED. read more

I usually love Arco for their low gas prices and friendly attendants. I expected the station to be super busy because it's right off the freeway. However, that wasn't the problem. When I went inside to pay for my gas, the guy confused the purchase price with the pump number. Totally fine, and I just corrected him. Just to clarify, I asked him how much he charged on my debit card, and this guy looked at me like I ruined his life. He looked angrily at me for 5 awkward seconds and then gave out a long sigh. Some of the best prices in the area, but tends to be higher if prices are heading lower. Very hazardous to exit the pumps due to limited space in the busy station. Management covers the "Exit Only" signs on the Victory Blvd. side with advertising, making the problem of line-cutters entering the wrong way even worse, and frequently trapping customers. So plan some time to buy gas here! And don't expect latching gas pump nozzles or window squeegees. read more

On the night of 8/21/13 at 8:55pm, I pulled into the ARCO gas station on the corner of Victory Blvd and Haskell Ave in Van Nuys, CA. I put $40 into the PayQuick machine, and selected my pump. When I got to the pump, it didn't show the zeroes like it normally does before it begins dispensing fuel; it simply said $40.00 and 10.873 Gallons. However, NO GASOLINE EVER CAME OUT OF THE PUMP! When I went inside to notify the extremely rude attendant that the pump is not working, he didn't bother to try and help me since he had other customers. He simply printed out a copy of the receipt and said that it's "not his problem", and to come back to talk to the owner the next day. I waited almost THREE HOURS for the police to arrive, got an incident report number from them and their badge numbers since they were my only credible witnesses to what had happened. After meeting with the owner of the gas station the next day, reporting this incident to the California Dept. of Agriculture: Weights & Measures division, and even calling ARCO corporate to file a complaint against the gas station, I've gotten nowhere and the owner still refuses to give me my $40 back that was STOLEN from me. I know there must be some sort of way to see that there is an extra 10.873 sitting in their underground tanks, and that they are $40 over in their register because no gas was ever dispensed. He probably just doesn't want to put in the effort because he'd rather keep my money. At this point, I'm most likely going to pursue legal action to get my money back, because I will not allow anyone to steal money from me simply because they don't think I have the resources to do anything about it.
