Unfortunately, immediately after I signed in, the system went completely down. The outage meant they could not process any patient who did not have a paper copy of their lab order (luckily I did). This could have been a disaster, but it wasn't. The person behind the desk organizing patient flow was absolutely exceptional. She took charge, explaining the situation clearly and with empathy for those who hadn't printed their orders, kept things moving, and maintained a positive attitude throughout. Real leadership skills show up when things don't go according to plan. Labcorp has a genuine leader minding the desk at the Wisconsin Avenue Bethesda location.
