I went in for blood work for my annual physical without an appointment, so I expected a long wait. First off, the self check-in process worked well; it was pretty quick and efficient. Unfortunately, immediately after I signed in, the system went completely down. The outage meant they could not process any patient who did not have a paper copy of their lab order (luckily I did). This could have been a disaster, but it wasn't. The person behind the desk organizing patient flow was absolutely exceptional. She took charge, explaining the situation clearly and with empathy for those who hadn't printed their orders, kept things moving, and maintained a positive attitude throughout. Real leadership skills show up when things don't go according to plan. Labcorp has a genuine leader minding the desk at the Wisconsin Avenue Bethesda location. read more

The front-desk person lacks humanity. I was treated like cattle. She called my name out loud and then ordered me to walk back for my bloodwork. When she noticed that I was not following her orders because I paused to review the order to ensure she had removed (she had not!) one blood test that I was not supposed to get. She repeated her orders, and I pointed out that she had not resolved my request. She corrected the order, but not once did she attempt to make eye contact or acknowledge her mistake. This is the WORST Labcorp location. Please go to any other Labcorp. No one needs to be subjected to this type of rude behavior, especially in the medical field. The location of this lab is in a high rise off of Wisconsin Ave. Despite not having an appointment, I had no wait. The staff behind the desk was super friendly and helped to address questions related to the test that were ordered. The office is beautifully kept and clean, I had a wonderful experience here and was extremely pleased with the service and the care I received. read more

Monique was a godsend for my husband and I today. Didn't even know how we were going to get our 4.5 son to get his blood drawn. She came in, told us exactly what to do and handled it like a pro. I received an email from labcorp to make an appointment. I did and when I arrived they simply denied it and were very unpleasant.

There never seem to be any available appointments. Other than that the experience is OK. It needs a good deep clean!! The baseboards, floors, sinks, all look worn out and scrapped up. The front door to lab is NOT handicap accessible. No automatic door button present so that is a huge minus. But of all the lab corps in the area this is my favorite... if you can get an appointment. I try to book appointments the week of (booking on a Monday for that Friday) and cannot find available appointments. Workers are kind and helpful. Check in is easy. read more

i came mid-afternoon on a weekday for bloodwork and was relieved to see nobody in the waiting room, considering i didn't have an appointment. i was brought back right away and the phlebotomist was very friendly and clearly skilled. the office is small but clean. i nearly fainted (a me-thing, not bc of them) and the entire staff was patient and kind throughout my recovery. the office is within a large medical building so parking is not ideal. there is hourly garage parking attached to the building that is a bit pricey, or across the street at Saks and you can pay by phone. read more

I require blood tests at least 4-5 times per year and have been to this facility numerous times. My recent experience was very unpleasant. The check in kiosk did not recognize I had a scheduled appointment and I had to enter all my contact information as though I was a new customer. After entering the information, it recognized me and my insurance information but since I had changed insurance it suggested I talk to the desk technician regarding my secondary insurance information. When I went up to the desk to ask about my unrecognized scheduled appointment and my changed insurance , the technician was rather curt with me and didn't give me a chance to ask my questions. She told me to have a seat and wait until I was called. I didn't have a long wait and when I returned to the desk, the technician was most interested in getting my credit card information and much less interested in answering my insurance questions. I was told to go to an exam room which I did. The lab technician had a great deal of trouble poking a needle into my arm and finding a vein for the blood test. I tried to make her feel at ease and joked that I was a difficult patient and not to worry. She gave up on my arm and worked on a vein in my hand with the same result. Although I believe I was quite good natured, the technician barely cracked a smile and said very little. She left and after a while another technician came in. I tried to be friendly but she too was quite unpleasant. She tried my other arm and was successful. I spent most of my time trying to make the technicians feel comfortable rather than the other way around. And, I had questions about my insurance which they seemed unwilling to address. I don't believe i caused anyone to feel badly but felt really poorly taken care of when I left the lab. I think I will go elsewhere for future blood tests. read more

A really quick & easy process to get blood work done. Sign in at the kiosk, a few moments of a wait to confirm your identity & then your escorted back to one of the phlebotomy rooms. Tracy checked me in, Star took my blood & it took all of 12 minutes before I left. The waiting room is clean & organized with TV's, complimentary water & protective masks. Although I called to make an appointment, I was told appointments are not needed & to just walk-in. Yet, if you listen to the automated message when you call your preferred location, it states you can make an appointment online. On Saturdays all locations are open from 8A - 11A...this location's door locked at 10:59A. A couple of blocks from the Friendship Heights Metro Station - Red Line. read more

Post operation, my surgeon needed a blood test done to follow up and see possible infection. This location has done a celiac (gluten tolerance) test instead!!! This could have severe implications. So unprofessional. read more

I went to Labcorp recently to get some blood work prior to a doctor's appointment. The whole process was a disaster. It was overcrowded and understaffed. I sat in the waiting room for more than 1/2 hour, and only one person was taken back into the testing area during that time. No staff member could give me any estimate about how long it might take to be seen. Meanwhile, I could hear staff talking loudly and laughing back in the test area. Was anyone working back there? Other patients in the waiting room were sharing experiences about their previous visits that involved waiting 1-1/2 hours to be seen. I finally left, knowing that the wait could be that long and that no one could help me with an estimate for the waiting time. read more

This was the nicest labcorp I have been to. The staff was really patient and warm. The space was clean. My only wish would be that they limit the number of people in the waiting room at a time. Having surgery? Need bloodwork done? CBC, Chem7 or some other form of body fluid test? Don't have time to wait for an appointment with your doctor? Have no fear! LabCorp is here (from 830-4). And the best part is you don't need an appointment! LabCorb is located in Friendship Heights in the all-forms-of-medical-practice building (5530 Wisconsin Ave) and is a walk-in service center for lab work. This can work for you or against you actually. You can show up and there will be no one there ahead of you or there will be a gazillion + 1 people ahead of you. Basically, you walk in, write your name on the clipboard and wait to be called. After you're called, you'll submit ID, doctor's orders, insurance card and credit card. Your credit card is only charged after all insurance discounts apply and it's a max charge of $20. (My charges ended up being $2) and you sign to pre-authorize this menial charge. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I was called back. These nurses are pretty on the ball and know what they're doing. The nurse at Suburban Hospital had a helluva time finding a good vein but this nurse found one faster than I've ever seen done before. After what seemed like an eternity of filling vile after vile of blood, I was soon done and sent to the bathroom to fill another container with stuff. Once that task was completed, I set it on the counter. I had a question for my nurse but she seemed to have disappeared. Not sure where she went, so I just left. I guess if there had been a problem, they'd contact me but oh well. My tests were done, results were going to be sent to my doctor within 2 days and forwarded to the hospital. I also received a copy of the results in the mail a few days later. I'm hoping not to ever return - but should I need some form of test done, this is where I'll end up, for sure. They're not the friendliest nurses but they're good at what they do and that's all I can really ask for. read more

I made an appointment for 2:15 and I wasn't seen until 3. Other people were seen before me And I wasn't seen until I complained. At this point the staff member appeared as if she didn't want to wait on me. They claimed that their internet was down but they were moving slow when I walked in. I've had to come here every month for the past six months. Regardless of the time of day or day of week, or whether I've had an appointment, I've never had a visit that lasted fewer than forty-five minutes. The longest was a 1 hr. 45 minute visit for a Saturday morning walk-in. The most infuriating was a 90 minute visit when I had been fasting for a weekday appointment and I had a subsequent doctor's appointment that I needed to get to. The simplest thing the staff could do to improve service would be to pull up the patient record at the front desk when you check in. That way, if anything is at all unclear in the doctor's orders, or a standing order has expired, it could be straightened out while you wait for the phlebotomist to become available. Rather, the staff wait until they are ready to send you back to the lab. If anything hinky comes up in handling your orders, insurance, or payment, it just adds to your wait time. Worse still, you might wait around for ages and then just be sent home. I have twice waited more than 30 minutes past my appointment time to be called to process my paperwork at the front desk. This morning I saw a woman wait 20 minutes past her appointment time to get called to the front desk, so it appears that I'm not alone in this experience. You're also lucky to be able to get an appointment in the first place. Saturday appointments get snatched up more than a week in advance, as do any appointment times before 9 a.m. Good luck, fasting patients and those without flexibility to take time off from work! Today's added insult to injury was experiencing a HIPAA violation. The front desk staffer did not verify my name and birthdate, so she confused me with another patient. She then showed me this other patient's record on the computer screen. Even after I identified myself and confirmed my birthday, I was given an estimated payment amount that sounded incorrect, and I stated as such. The staffer insisted it was correct. Well, it wasn't. When I was handed my printed estimate to sign to accept financial responsibility for the test, it was for the other patient and that other patient's insurance company. Yikes. So, when I finally went back to the lab to have my blood drawn, I did so without any official paperwork and the customary identification labels for the test tubes. I'm hoping my samples don't get lost in the system, because I really don't have time to wait around this place again in the coming days. All of that said, every phlebotomist I've encountered here is lovely. They are efficient and inflict no pain. Many of them have jumped in to fix the errors that the front desk staff make. It's just infuriating that insurance carriers' insistence on contracting with the cheapest providers has led us all to rely on this organization that is hopeless in training, supporting and supervising its administrative staff. read more

Terrible experience. Their systems are clearly deficient. I went in for one urine test. The waiting room was crowded and understaffed. The test results came came back few days later, but the lab did not perform the culture that the doctor had ordered. So I had to go in for a second urine sample. This time, they had moved down a floor to more spacious quarters, and there were few patients there. However, after giving my sample, I wanted for more than a week with no results. I sent an inquiry on their automated system, they never replied. My doctor's office called them: they said the had LOST the sample! So I had to go in a THIRD time. I made an appointment at a different office in downtown DC, but when I got there, they said they had no record of my doctor ordering a new test. I checked with my doctor's office, and indeed they had put in a new test order. If I had a choice, I would never use them again. read more

I wrote a previous negative review of this LabCorp location and it looks like Yelp took it down. I was sent by my internist who is in the same building as LabCorp because he thought that it would be fastest for me because my appointment with him was an early one and the other lab in the building did not open unit 9am. I had my 7:45am appointment with my internist and then went to the LabCorp office only one floor down. I got there at 8:15am., about 15 minutes after they opened. I noticed two things: (1) very few staff were at work at that point. I watched workers arrive over the next one hour and 20 minutes. (2) Almost all patients had appointments apparently. When I got there there were about 5 people ahead of me. Over the next one and one-half hours an additional 25 patients walked in. It was over an hour and one-half before I was seen for a simple blood draw. I was not aware of appointments, and anyway I did not really know when I should make the "appointment" because I was not sure how long I would be at my internist's office first. Also, they made me swipe my credit card for a payment even though I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield Carefirst through JHU, and I should be billed for any coinsurance rather than pay first at the provider location. All in all I was not please by the service. Also I though that the blood draw work was quite sloppy and not expertly given. All and all I was very unsatisfied. I hope that BC/BS of MD steers away from LabCorp. I do no think it is a good organization overall from my experience at their Chevy Chase facility. read more

I arrived prior to my appointment time and the woman and at the reception desk was talking to another patient. I noticed a sign-in sheet so I went ahead and signed in and then waited in line. After about thirty seconds of waiting the woman at the desk got a very nasty tone and ordered me to have a seat and wait to be called. Apparently, she was upset because I had failed to follow the directions which said, "sign in and then have a seat and wait for your name to be called", directions which she had left folded under the clipboard where I couldn't see them. I came to this location because I've found other labcorps to be about as friendly as a grizzly bear on PCP, and I went to this one because it had the least terrible Yelp reviews. Nevertheless, I was disappointed to find yet another area labcorp staffed by rude, impatient people with anger management problems. It seems like this district is led by labcorp leadership who believe "the customer is always a punching bag". Unfortunately, they basically have a monopoly on these services, so your choices are either pinch your nose and tolerate their crap or put your own health at risk. I had an appointment for 10 o'clock and was seen within fifteen minutes. The woman who drew my blood was very professional and nice. I get very nervous when I have my blood drawn so I was glad that she was able to get it done very quickly and engage in some small talk to try to distract me from my nerves. Most nurses have a hard time finding a good vein but she was able to very quickly and got it done in only one go! read more

I had a "stat" order but I waited 45 minutes. They took virtually every other walk-in before me. They have a automated check-in that is confusing and difficult to use. The staff standing around didn't come to assist me until I asked for help, but they helped every other customer and they ALL needed help. They assured me my results would be faxed to both doctors before 5pm. Only one doctor received the fax with results and the other had to make a couple of phone calls. It was after 6pm when she called me with the results. They told her the results were still in transit when I found out later that the other doc already had them. This delay caused me a lot of extra work that I now will have to undo tomorrow! STAT usually means an hour. Don't use this lab if another is available. read more

Pleasant & businesslike. Didn't have time to sit down. Sent me in for work. A familiar & friendly face followed me in immediately. We recognized each other. Briefly joked about the (Bethesda) Lab's ratings. She took my blood before I knew it was missing. I watched my watch. 5 minutes! In & out, painlessly, with smiles, in Five Minutes. I went to lab corp at 5530 Wisconsin in Chevy Chase, Md. There was a very short wait as it was late in the day. The first tech had a tough time drawing blood - sticking me a couple of times before filing two vials and then gave up trying to fill the last two. Another tech came in to help. She was a bit slovenly which worried me, but she said that she handled the tough sticks like me. Well, she handled me all right - she couldn't draw blood on the first tries and then hit a large vein which caused quite a lot of bleeding - not into the tube and vial but all over me and my clothing. We walked out without having finished the tests that I needed. What a terrible experience. I would NEVER go back, and I warn you all - do not use them! read more

LAZY workers.. i was never told i needed to tell them if i wanted my lab results mailed to me. i was expecting them in the mail, because they had mailed me my lab results several years ago without requesting it... apparently they had mailed it by accident then. so, i called the chevy chase office to have my results mailed to me, but was told it was too late, i had needed to request them at the initial appt. so, i called the 1-800 number and the lady graciously told me that they could mail my results to me, but then she couldn't fine my account, because the dumb workers in chevy chase mixed up my first and last name.. duh! read more
