They have other jobs and other commitments. My parents live there and they love it. The Deerfield employees know everyone's name and they look after them, cheerfully. The food is good, the servers remember preferences. Nursing staff is kind. It is possible to live in your own apartment and do any activity you care to. There is a workout room with knowledgeable, helpful trainers, classes for water aerobics, yoga and other stuff I don't do. There is a hair salon in addition to the spa. There are sidewalks and wooded hiking trails. There is a croquet court. There is a bank on site. There are dances, musical performances and bus trips to the Flat Rock Playhouse. Everyone should have a retirement this comfortable.

This was truly one of the best meals I have had in Asheville! First, there was a wonderfully-fresh salad, with a selection of dressings. Next, I had the Minestrone soup - also wonderful, with very fresh vegetables. My entree was the southern fried catfish - the very best catfish I've ever had!! Ever since my mom passed away from Alzheimer's / Dementia and I spent some special time with her at her own nursing home back in Iowa, I really wanted to find a local facility to volunteer to pay forward all the wonderful love and care my mom received from hers. Thankfully, I was able to connect with one of the incredible staff at The Oaks and Sweeten Creek and she arranged for my family to come monthly to volunteer and bring some joy to the residents there. My 9 year old son is a pianist and he plays music for them. There were a variety of residents in attendance and it was clear that music is such a universal language. My daughter is a great artist and she will be joining us next month to create drawings for the residents. We also own a small farm and will plan to bring cuddly farm animals to visit with them as well. I feel so fortunate and grateful to live in such a wonderful community with opportunities like this to teach our children creative ways to volunteer their time! The residents are all so lovely and the staff is clearly loving and so dedicated to them in their care.

My Mom stayed there for 12 days while waiting on another nursing home to open back up. It cost us…read more$3312.00 plus they charged us $117.20 for medicine copay. A lot of these were for more than 12 days worth but, none was forwarded to the other Health& Retirement Home and we did not receive them back. Also we took 4 full outfits in and 7 night gowns with her name in them. When we arrived at the new Home she had 1-1/2 of the outfits and only 2 summer night gowns. I have asked them about this and the only thing they did was give me $50.00 towards new. Which I have spent over $250.00 to replace so that she had some clothes to put on. I would not take anyone there unless you have a large some of money to blow. I must say most of the Nurses and CNA where very nice to my Mom during the stay. A very concerned person towards the older people that have to go thru this and there families.
