You're a bit at the mercy of whoever is there. A lot of people were there for the day backed up to a covered spot and blaring music. There was a depressing amount of trash around. The castles are neat and after doing some web searching we found some history about them (not offered by the park itself which is odd). Some areas feel pretty unsafe. The store just sells towels, $2 water shoes for $20 and life vests. No swimming allowed today (it's still winter and because of flooding) but a lot of people were in various areas of the river. The bathrooms were spread around the upper areas and I think mostly for campers and cabin folks. No one is policing anything though. The ports potties were rank.

I just realized I forgot to add the prices so I was lazy and copied this. However, we were VERY disappointed in two things: 1) The cabins are old and unkept. We had a hole in the wall near the front door and daylight showing under the front door. The entire cabin was filled with ants. They were on the floor, walls, and ceiling. Every hour I was running around squashing ants. We had to hang everything on hooks/hangers or leave it in the car. Water leaked from underneath the tile in front of the shower. The staff said the State has the money to renovate, but they keep delaying it. So sad to lose customers because they won't spend the money to update it. 2) The pet fee is $40 per day per pet. We had 2 dogs totaling 22 pounds. There was NO extra work on behalf of the staff after we left. Most place charge a deposit that is refundable if there is no damage. They should review their pet policy and consider reducing or eliminating the fee and instead having a refundable deposit. With $80/night for the dogs and $110+ for the cabin, we could have stayed in a nice VRBO home with a fenced backyard and without bugs.

Apparently, the powers that be have figured out that they can make more money off day users by charging $10 / day for a parking permit. Our pass was included with our cabin. Our cabin had many creature comforts. Air conditioning, cold but too loud to sleep with (cycling on and off every few minutes), cable tv, full size fridge, cooktop and microwave. Choice of 1 big bed or 2 little ones. Nice bathroom, too. Towels and bedding are provided and daily cleaning is offered, but we declined and lived in our own squalor, lol. Due to the corona bug, the pots, plates, utensils, etc. were no longer provided. Not sure why these things couldn't have been left with a suggestion that we wash them before using them. Fortunately, we have a camp box with those items, ready to travel. Outside, we had a picnic table, a bbq grill and a fire ring. The grill was about what you expect at a public p k-9ark, with wide gaps and it was really nasty, so I grilled our burgers on a sheet of aluminum foil. Yum! We also brought firewood with us, but there are places nearby where you can buy some. I also brought a smudge pot with citronella scented oil in case the mosquitoes were a problem, but there were only a few of those pests. There are plenty of places to explore in the park and the beautiful lake to enjoy. Break out of your seclusion and reep the benefits of this safe spot to recharge your batteries.

This is our 135th dog park, if memory serves. Yes we travel…read more What this very nice dog park has: Small section Large dog section Water Trash cans Bags provided Excellent parking everything needed and easily found (just keep driving, it's at the end). Freeway visible from the park. It's a little isolated, but that doesn't bother me. Nice staff taking trash out! Nice patrons with their dogs. People are friendly and talk to you. In both sections there are dig marks under the far tractor gates (opposite parking lot) where dogs can get out. I would fix that if it were me. It appears that big dogs go in the small dog section as is evidenced by lack of picking up dog poop. It's not terrible, but the 3-4 big piles I picked up in a small area speaks. It's not hard people, pick up after your dogs. Since my dog wrote a book on dog parks (it's a funny, yet practical guide) I figure I should leave the owners of a park something they could improve on. Sooooo...... One comment on something that should get fixed (#1 issue at a lot of dog parks so this park is not alone): If you are going to allow pools for dogs (they are not always allowed due to disease, and people waste water) throw large, course rocks down in the pool drainage area. With grass nearby you might need to section it off. It's easy, it's cheap. Why do it? Stagnant water spreads disease, it's messy, someone could slip if it's not easily visible. Example. Right now the small dog section is very wet, but you can't see it. Slip hazard. Big section it is an all out pond. If it were my dog park, and if you insist on pools, I would only allow small pools that can only fill 1-2 inches. A 75 year old person should be able to dump the pool themselves to get clean water! If they can't it's too big. Break out the drill and make holes up higher so it can't fill much. The dogs just need their pads to wet to cool off, and they can still roll in it if you want that. Small dog section could get away with a hot water heater aluminum drainage pan!! That's my 2 cents.

Location wise it can get a little confusing. There are several campgrounds spread throughout. I stayed at the campground The Point. It was was small but relatively well-organized, and far away from everything to be peaceful and close enough that we weren't far away from exploring the local town as well. The point also let's you have pets stay. We took our two dogs who seemed to thoughtless enjoyed being out with us. Each plot on The Point is reservable Online, or self-serve pay station. I would say to reserve, as the weekend on a non-holiday it was completely full. There are plots that have water and electric hook-ups. The plot we were on had none, but was the cheapest at $16 a night. Each plot also comes with its own personal parking spot. Our's had a fire. Pit and a bench with an extension. At the Point there are a few non-plumbed facilities as well as one facility with plumbing and showers. Each bathroom of the plumber facilities has its own shower, plus a section of just a single shower with no bathroom. There are plenty of spots to go. Fishing areas are at each of the campgrounds. In addition, there are boat drop off areas, and places to swim in the lake. Unfortunately, no pets are not allowed in the lake or east of Travertine area which is in the northeastern section of the park. In the end, it was a fun and simple time, and will be planning my trips here on a monthly basis b

Also known as pill bugs or roly polys. They come out at night. The first night, there was only about a dozen of them. We dispatched them and went about our business. It seemed like they were coming out of the shower drain, so we covered it up. The second night, they doubled down. About 40 of the invaders arrived. We took care of the problem like the troopers we are. On the third night, we returned to our cabin at midnight. There was a flash mob of crustaceans waiting for us. The floors were alive with hundreds of the buggers. We swept them up and dumped them into the toilet, but they kept coming. They seemed to be coming from everywhere. Out of the woodwork. From under the bed. From the water heater closet. Fortunately, these Armadillidium Vulgare don't bite or sting. But it's not pleasant when they meet their demise under your bare feet. And it's pretty creepy when they're crawling on you in bed. In the morning, when we checked out, we reported the assault to Kelli at the front desk. She seemed a little skeptical until I showed her a picture of the toilet, loaded with a large group of captives about to meet their maker. Kelli asked why we didn't call them about the problem. The first 2 nights, it didn't seem like a big deal. The 3rd night was different. And, it was midnight. We didn't like the idea of waiting for someone to blast the bugs (and us) before we go to bed. And, we had already been informed that all other cabins had been rented. Kelli understood and wanted to offer compensation, but the manager would have to approve it. The manager was in a meeting. She offered to talk to the manager, and we would get a call from them later. Kelli called about a half hour later to tell us that the manager credited us 10% for our trouble. Well, I guess that about covers the sales tax.

Upon arrival, we were immediately disappointed by the state of the cabin. The floors had duct tape stuck to the tiles, likely covering up cracks, which was a safety hazard. The kitchen was also in poor condition - there were coffee stains on the counters and crumbs left on the kitchen table from previous guests. In the bedroom, the light fixture didn't work, though there was a lamp as a workaround. Things only got worse when we pulled out the futon from the couch. The mattress was stained and dirty, with food wrappers stuck to it, indicating it hadn't been properly cleaned. To top it off, the bathroom door wouldn't lock, which was concerning for privacy and safety. While I considered filing a complaint with the office, I was hesitant as it was a weekend and I feared there would be no other cabins available. Given the high price for just two nights, I was expecting much better quality. Sadly, this cabin did not live up to the standards I was hoping for, and I left feeling truly disappointed. I really hope the property addresses these issues for future guests. Good nature views though. But for the amount I paid you could honestly get a better hotel room.
