Area 66, just outside Yucca, Arizona, is a classic roadside America stop. You'll know you reached your destination when you see what looks like a giant golf ball show up along the road. This weird building has had many tenants over the years -- including a real estate business that actually turned out to be a complete scam, selling houses that never actually existed! Today, you'll find a strange museum that houses what the owners say is evidence of alien encounters in the area. We had our dog, Doug, with us and were allowed to bring him in with us as long as we carried him. So I definitely got my workout in that day! The museum is tiny and costs $10 per adult. Did I understand everything in the museum? Did it make sense? Umm, definitely not! But we think it was well worth the stop for the weird experience alone. Before you leave, make sure you stop at the little store at the base of the museum to pick up some beef jerky. read more

Fun little rest stop. The museum just opened in April 2019, a friend and I stopped by on our roadtrip from the Grand Canyon to Joshua Tree. The gift shop is small and they are expecting more inventory soon. The displays were nice and informative. I like the history of the location and information about project Icarus. The women on site were very friendly. We didn't pick up snacks at the store but it seems like the jerky is something worth trying. There was one additional shop on site that was closed but has beautiful sculptures near it. I recommend you to stop by, stretch your legs, and get creeped out by the alien stories. This is a MUST VISIT!!! This isn't a bunch of hicks putting up some plywood aliens, its legit and a fascinating part of our history. The store is separate from the museum, which all you need to do is go up the stairs. If you are any kind of a UFO buff you are missing out if you don't see this. Its just a little cute stop. The reason why you wont find pictures of whats inside is because they ask you not to...and of course as respectable patrons we dont. But inside you will find a gift shop with alien merch and on the 2nd and 3rd floor are artifacts and videos. Its only $5 to get in so its not like its gonna make a huge dent in your wallet and kids are free. read more

This place is always a planned stop on my Rout 66 road trips! I use their restroom, grab a bag of the teriyaki beef jerky, soda and chips. I always make sure I get a photo op with Sophie my chihuahua! The service is very friendly and they don't treat you like just a traveling tourist. read more

Awesome roadside museum if you're really into Alien/ufo stuff. There's interesting documents about a supposed ufo crash near the proving grounds, suspicious metallic material that was tested by people at Cal Tech and some cool displays that I dont want to spoil. read more

We stopped by on our way back from kingman. It was free that day which was a plus. The lady who was there was very friendly and told us a little history about it and let us free to roam around. It was a cool little place. I was hoping to see an alien but they didnt seem to stop by when we were there! The kids have asked to stop every time we drive by, so finally we stopped in. Bought some beef jerky, a toy and paid admission to the museum. Very disappointed. I understand this place just opened, but it was not worth the admission price. Takes all of 2 minutes to walk through and couldn't even sit through the 9 minute movie because it kept starting and stopping. So, after $65 we ended up with a broken toy, and mediocre beef jerky that I fed to my dog. read more

AMAZING!!!! The teriyaki is delicious. You get actual pieces of meat and not something that resembles cardboard which is like other kinds of jerky. I definitely plan on coming back to buy more the next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

I drove by on my way to the Grand Canyon and saw this Interesting roadside attraction regarding an alleged crash of a UFO outside Kingman, Arizona housed inside a complete geodesic sphere elevated off the ground on a single pole. I've never seen a building like this nor likely ever will again. I was dismayed to find out it was closed on the day I stopped, but was open Thursday through Sunday, and decided I would stop on the way back to LA. I stopped on a Sunday, went into the convenience store located on the property first, talked with a very nice lady in the store, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that they have some of the most awesome jerky I've ever had in my life, AND vintage sodas I haven't seen in a long time! I then went into the museum, it was only $5 for anyone over 13 years old (under 13 is free). They have some very, very interesting pieces on display, and some extremely intriguing videos. All I can say is, when is the government going to release more of this stuff??? And being an architect by training, I found the building to be fascinating as well. All in all, I am very happy I stopped and experienced this little gem in the Arizona desert. read more

This fun eclectic place easily drags tourists off Interstate 40 at exit #25 in Yucca, AZ, home to a military proving grounds. At first you are not quite sure if its the world's largest golf ball or what exactly. When you pull in you begin to get a feel for the alien motif but the place really needs better signage, and something to keep you there longer. The owners are rehabbing the Geo dome structure (a former home for his now elderly mother) but until then, a small convenience store will have to suffice until you get back on the road. read more

Beef Jerky is amazing. Soft and moist beef Jerky in a bunch of flavors. Love the Sweet & Spicey, Sweet Garlic, and Honey teriyaki.

Nice people easy to redeem free jerky by checking into yelp and they offer many different drinks including route 66 soft drinks and a variety of candy bars, expensive spam however being the only store in a long ways that sells it the price is high. read more

Loved the area but when I bought 3 bags of beef jerky there was mold all over the jerky but the expiration date was not near. It's a run down general store. If you go there open the beef jerky before you leave. read more
