When I went they had pizza and tacos. A main bar with cocktails, a wine bar, and beer bar. I opted for the vodka passion fruit cocktail. It was pretty tasty, just had too much ice. It comes in a cute re-usable plastic cup. Staff was nice and helpful throughout the venue. There is seating scattered throughout Understory for food or just to relax. Picture this - you walk into a tropical oasis and have the option of cocktails from Jaguar sun, wine selections from Bad Seed - a new wine bar pop up from Karina and the folks at Niu Wine -, rotating food from some of Miami's most loved chefs and last but not least - MUSIC! You'd think these folks just took your best friends magical back yard and created the most fun party in their house, but instead its at Understory and you can enjoy this oasis weekly on Thursday's and Fridays. I went for the first time last Thursday where I got to try a rum punch but with Mezcal that was delish. Then I moved on to a selection of delish wines and pizza by Flour and Weirdoughs. To say the vibe is impeccable is an understatement. I happily stayed until they closed at midnight, passing the time hanging out with friends and listening to the most fire playlist. They also have live jazz that starts at 9, which you can't really hear from the wine bar area since the space is so large, and DJs later in the evening as well as Friday. You can enjoy free entry before 8:30 pm. The best way to stay up to date on their weekly pop ups is to follow them on IG at @Understorymia. Can't wait to return!

Another perfect date night!…read more We went to Sunny's late because I was craving a juicy steak, and bae chose Sunny's because they have a late-night menu and honestly, it did not disappoint! Our host walked us out to the Terrace seating, which was perfectly secluded and made for such a nice, intimate setting. We started with the Blue Crab Toast and Spinach & Artichoke Dip. The blue crab toast was definitely the favorite between the two! The pickled fennel paired with the crab so perfectly and added the perfect little zing. We both ordered the Steak Frites, and OMG... melt-in-your-mouth good! Exactly what I was craving. For cocktails, he had the Green Ghoul and I went with the Guava Cosmopolitan. Mine was definitely the favorite of the two the guava flavor was everything! Between the amazing food, great cocktails, intimate atmosphere, and some of the best service I've had in Miami thus far, I can definitely see Sunny's becoming a staple for our local date nights. Definitely one to add to the rotation!

We also ordered the creamed spinach and potato wedges, which were crispy, flavorful, and the perfect sides to share. For the main event, we shared the dry-aged ribeye, and the meat was cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite was incredible! And lastly, this place is so Miami! The ambiance and decor are such a vibe and fit my style perfectly. From the food to the cocktails to the atmosphere, everything was a 10/10. I'll definitely be coming back!

That said, several things impacted my experience. It was very hot inside and packed with people, which makes it nearly impossible for the staff to provide good service. The exhaust/ventilation system doesn't seem sufficient for how busy the space gets, so you end up leaving with your hair and clothes smelling like food. The terrace looks lovely, but with Miami heat (easily 90°F), sitting outside isn't really a comfortable option. Lastly, most of the seating is uncomfortable, which doesn't help when the atmosphere is already overwhelming. Sorry, this is a place that I won't go back.

A large group of us gathered here for dinner and late-night drinks on a Friday night. This is a fun, happening spot. It's ideal if you're looking for a casual, laid-back night out in Miami. The rooftop can handle a lot of people. My wife and I ordered food downstairs at Manjay, the Caribbean/Haitian stall at the food court, and took it up to the rooftop (there's an elevator). You are allowed to do this at the Citadel (take food from the food court up to the roof). Staff on the rooftop will bus trays and tableware. I recommend Manjay, by the way, and left a review for it separately here on Yelp. On the rooftop, I had a couple of martinis, one extra dirty. They were well made and delicious. Our friends had a variety of drinks including beer (e.g., Monopolio Mexican amber lager). Pint glasses were served iced over which is certainly nice in the South Florida heat. Service was good. The staff was nice. Several of the chairs had holes in the seats, so that was annoying. The vibe was lively and friendly. Good music.

It also carries a lot of Italian products, for instance, I found apple cookies here that I hadn't been able to find anywhere else. Service was good, though no one ever came by to clear the plates from the table, which matters to me since I like to linger and chat after the meal, and having all the dishes piled up in the middle isn't very comfortable. It's self-service, but they're still supposed to come by and clear the table. 100% recommended!

The restaurant is conveniently located right on the downtown strip with free street parking nearby, which is always a plus. The atmosphere was inviting from the moment we walked in. The host welcomed us and told us we could sit anywhere we liked, so we chose a quieter table away from the bar area. There is also a stage section that looked perfect for live music nights, although there was no entertainment during our visit. Overall, the ambiance was trendy, relaxed, and had a great neighborhood feel. They also appeared to have some very good happy hour specials for those who drink. Our server was very sweet and offered several recommendations. We decided to share the burrata appetizer and the skirt steak dinner. The steak arrived first and looked absolutely beautiful. The quality of the meat itself was outstanding and cooked very well. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable charred flavor from what seemed like a dirty grill, which took away from an otherwise excellent steak. It was disappointing because the quality of the meat was truly superb. The fries were also surprisingly good and almost tasted closer to sweet potato fries. At that point, we realized our burrata appetizer had been forgotten. Once we flagged down our server, she immediately corrected the mistake and brought it out quickly. Thankfully, it was absolutely delicious and ended up being one of the highlights of the meal. The fresh burrata paired perfectly with the heirloom tomatoes and tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. Toward the end of dinner, service became difficult again. We were ready for more water, a box, and the check, but our server was nowhere to be found despite the restaurant not being particularly busy since it was still early in the evening. I eventually had to get up and ask the bartender for assistance. Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance and appreciated the quality of the food. There were definitely some service inconsistencies, but the restaurant has a lot of potential and several dishes that stood out.
