Stayed an hour after my wedding to clean up and still lost my deposit and then some due to small things, like the chairs not being covered or 20 bucks for a couple water bottles in the freezer. There is no room for error, if you're not going to put things away, don't even waste your time as you will still be charged. Besides that, the venue is priced excellently, and they provide tables and chairs and table cloths for an additional fee.

We had not been anywhere for quite a while together or separately so this was a easy get away as it is about an hour away from where we live. There are only two ways to get here so check your map before you leave as one way is a very curvy ;() road around Cuyamaca or you can spend an extra 10 or 15 minutes to come to Ramona which I prefer. Although, it is more Scenic going around the Cuyamaca area and seeing the the lake. We spent a couple of hours Friday walking around Julian and there are lots of tourist shops with some interesting items, several breweries and a handful of restaurants and lots of pie shops. If you like pie you'll get a real variety here. For instance, boysenberry Apple Dutch crumb. Yum! We did stop at a barbecue place that was just okay and were able to sit outside. Saturday we came back into town and made a our way up to Menghini Winery which I had not been to in the many years. I was very happy to see it still open and spoke with one of the owners briefly as she told me there were only three people working there and they were only bottling three types of wine. My son's wife and I bought a nice Chardonnay for $27. I tried a little of the Merlot which I liked but was really looking for a Malbec or Meritage which is my favorite. There are a few wineries up here one close to the one we visited called Vulcan and there's a lake there small and one in town. I am posting a little information on the history of the town of Julian so if you're interested you can follow through. It was settled in 1869 and the Julian Hotel was run and owned by the first Afro-American. There used to be a carriage with horses that would take you around town didn't see that this time. There's also a fun mine, a lovely gem shop, a pistol and knife shop. The fresh air was great and the sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. I look forward to coming back here with another adult leave the three teenagers behind. LOL

Anyway, if you're along this stretch of Rancho Santa Fe Road in Olivenhain, just pull over and find some street parking nearby. You can walk through the grounds and check it all out. We're really lucky to have this little jewel preserved in North County. Pretty neat to think of what settler life was like back in day.

These members set the rates for residents for the essentials: water, sewer, trash. There is NO other provider so residents are stuck dealing with the outrageous rates they have enacted! A year ago, I paid about a $50-$75 deposit for services, 2 weeks ago when I moved back here, I was floored when the Water company stated that MY landlord, Martin Coyne, has set the deposit amount for the property I am renting from him at $250!! I asked why this man, Coyne, is allowed to dictate to the public utility company (the City of Imperial) how much deposits they charge! They had no answer for me. I had to get cash from my daughter to pay this. The rates themselves are outrageously high for a little city of mostly lower income folk of 8,100, the population of the city. It is apparent to me that these council members are trying to balance these charges on the backs of these poor souls, me included. I am a senior disabled woman who has a fixed budget and it is a great hardship to pay their outrageous rates for the essential WATER the people need to have. I spoke at the said meeting and commented on the rates, as previously stated, and asked why no allowance for low-income people has been offered as is the norm for most Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, LA counties/cities. I also inquired as to the clout this character, Coyne, has over the city/county as I found out this person lives in conspicuous consumption in his private residence WITH TWO LAKES! This man does not care how much his tenants have to pay for anything, while claiming he wants to "keep the rents low." I live in a property of his that looks on the outside like a ghetto with weeds for a lawn. I have been basically threatened by an office clerk of his that he drives by regularly to see if his "lawn" which is weeds, is being kept up or a charge will be forthcoming. This man told me he has no intention of bringing the "lawn" up to par, but doesn't mind if I spend my money to improve his property. It seems to me that Coyne keeps the so-called "lawn" so the City can make more from the watering! I am told by the People of this area that Coyne owns 40% of this Imperial Valley! Of course he has some clout and apparently has many boot-lickers that enact his wishes. As we all know, money talks, so this is my take on the sad situation that exists here. The city council listened to me and then at the end, the Mayor, Pechtl, felt it necessary to say that my remarks and statements were "insulting." Well, if my allegations are correct, yes, it is very "insulting" TO THE RESIDENTS that the city council is in the pocket of this Coyne. 'FYI: council members that were present were Tucker, Eugenio, Amparano, Dale. Also present: city manager Morita, assistant city manager Brown and clerk Jackson. Ms Debra Jackson greeted me when I arrived and advised me as to the way the meeting works; she was the only person who was cordial and respectful to me. Also, during this killer virus time, I was shocked to hear the city council members and mayor speak of it as it was not important here as "no cases have been reported here save for two visitors" that died here. I beg to differ with this very dangerous stance of the City council, as this is a serious pandemic and will spread to here no doubt. How can the Mayor say it is OK to act as normal with only a bit of precaution. Very dangerous stance indeed.

This little town feels forsaken by the city with its poorly maintained roads that don't make any…read moresense, lack of stop signs and roads that are just plain dangerous in some situations. Should not be considered part of Escondido. The HOA is particularly bad and has bizarre rules and poor community management. The golf course is poorly maintained, the pool has weird rules and is open few days out of the year. The green barrels for dog poop never have new bags like they should. As a result people's dogs poop everywhere they shouldn't. The fact that there are 2 convenient stores next to each other with business owners that directly compete and hate each other says it all. The unmaintained golf course that is abandoned at this point has a sign that says "No Trespassing, Violators will be procecuted". Procecuted by who exactly? I've seen the firefighters that are stationed across the street jogging on the golf course so clearly no one actually cares. Someone also left a legitimate looking sign there on April fools saying there was a new Walmart coming there. It was not funny in the slightest and HOA did nothing about it, making me believe it was them who did it. People drive way too fast in the neighborhoods and there aren't enough stop signs. Someone literally died in an accident on one of the roads and the city did nothing about it. Avoid this terrible little town

Hall of Duty…read more Diminutive City Hall with a nice view of the bay that's literally just feet from the back door. This current iteration of Coronado's City Hall has been in use since 2005 and serves mainly as a place for residents/contractors/builders to obtain permits and the like. We just ambled in for a few minutes to kill time and escape the insufferable humidity while we waited for the restaurant nearby to open. It was a good happenstance that we did enter because we were able to find out about their free summer shuttles that Cornado offers. It's not the most beautiful or architecturally stunning building you'll come across, but it gets the job done, I suppose.
