The gift shop is lacking and that's a real opportunity for them because I think people would spend money there. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a piece of history in my opinion. It could use some definite upgrades and it is wayyyyyyy out in the boonies but I am glad we went.

Spectacular views of the castle itself as well the surrounding areas. Lots of history about the castle displayed through some great exhibits. Lots of walking, hills and some stairs throughout...so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Great gift shop. Friendly and helpful staff throughout. Admission fee is $10, but grants access to Castillo San Felipe del Morro as well as the nearby Castillo San Cristobal up until the following day...so be sure to take advantage and visit both within that period. There is a reasonably-priced nearby parking garage (Ballaja Parking Garage) just a short walk to the entrance. There is also free street parking along Bulevar del Valle in the early morning hours.

This historic Spanish fort was built in the 1500s & played a major role in defending San Juan from sea attacks during the colonial era. Walking through it, you can really feel the weight of that history. The thick stone walls, open courtyards, tunnels, and lookout points all reflect how strategic & intense life had to be back then, especially w/ the constant threat of war & invasion. What really hit me most emotionally was just being there & taking it all in. Standing on the grounds overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it was easy to imagine what it must have been like centuries ago(soldiers watching the horizon, waiting for ships to appear). There's something powerful about physically being in a place that played such a major role in PR's history. It was honestly a really memorable moment for me. Not just b/c of what I learned, but b/c of how it felt being surrounded by so much history in 1 place. It gave me a deeper appreciation for San Juan & the stories built into the island itself.

Within the grounds is the Bosque Urbano Doña Inés. The park is very popular for birthdays, particularly kids birthday parties. We went for one and it was lots of fun. The kids were taken through a hike around the park and they loved it, learning about the different plants. There is an observation deck but the rails were loose and it wasn't safe for the kids. Overall, an excellent place to visit for a day at the park. Perfect for families or groups.

This is a Marriott hotel right on the beach in San Juan. There is a high resort fee but which beach…read morehotel doesn't these days. The hotel is lovely! There is plenty of seating places. I had to work in the lobby while they cleaned our room and the high tables made working easier. There is a fragrance in the lobby that irritates my allergies though. Front desk: service is hit or miss depending on who is working the front desk but all employees are professional. Arrival: we came by Uber and the staff is outside the car door ready to assist with luggage and whatever else you might have that needs to be unloaded. Bar: we received some drink vouchers. We ordered the free drink with passion fruit. Our bartender was a young man with curly hair and he made a great drink! Room: sleep quality is very good to excellent!! The hotel is always hopping and we were able to have a good night sleep. Only during our second night, did I briefly hear a neighbor slam a door, but other than that nothing. The door is very comfortable and large with plenty of seating and a nice balcony to see the ocean. We were here on work so not having a desk made work challenging but the coach really helped with the large table. It worked perfect! Mini fridge, safe, and nice Nespresso coffee machine. The room is surface clean meaning it appears clean, but if you wear white socks, they will turn black. A/C: there are some quirky setting on the A/C. If you don't put it on recirculate, the room will get hot at night. WIFI: It is hit and miss. Day 1 i had to use my phone as a hotspot to connect to a work call. Day 2 the WIFI was strong for my conference calls. Front room: nice large coach with separate TV but the window was weird and not very private but the extra sliding door helped. Bathroom: excellent lightening and vent fan in the bathroom. Very spacious. Room service: Make sure to put the sign on your door or room service can take a very long time to get to your room. After breakfast I put out the sign and I was serviced quickly within 2 hours. The first day I forgot to put out the sign and the room was not serviced until after 5pm. Pools: there is a nice pool and beach access.

Room was not yet ready, and the receptionist gave us some free drink vouchers for the bar. Room (954): A spacious sweet. Living room included a colossal sectional, large TV, dresser, and breakfast table. The living room also included a Nespresso machine and a mini-refrigerator. Bedroom included a king bed with a bench and nightstands. One negative about this suite: lack of a desk. I was on business, and working from the sofa sectional got old fast. Bathroom: Excellent lighting. Spacious and clean shower. Bed: Decent but not great mattress. Sleep quality: Above average Patio: Nice patio with two chairs and a small table; really enjoyed drinking coffee on the patio watching the surf. WiFi: WiFi when it worked was generally fast. But I missed a video conference due to poor connectivity the day before we left. Housekeeping: Overall housekeeping was good, but the floors were not thoroughly cleaned before our arrival or during our stay. Pools and beach: Multiple pools to lounge by. Great poolside food and drink service. Nice beach (but it can be dangerous to swim at times) with typical seaweed issues. Staff: All of the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Great staff overall! Value: Overall good value Overall common area cleanliness: Excellent Misc Tips: (1) There are many decent restaurants within walking distance. (2) There's a large grocery store called SuperMax about 1 mile away. Mostly lithographs of Picasso's works, there were numerous groups of his works from various periods of his life, including the "Blue Period" in Barcelona and Paris in his younger says, as well as his "Genevieve" period where he paid homage to his "companion" in his work. Truly a delightful exhibit! On the other side of the museum was a San Juan historical exhibit with many articles of silver and religious works of the early years of San Juan ... the museum is worth the time, nice walk there too!

For me, the experience felt very different because when I was a little girl, we used to visit and it was amazing to see the castle and La Cruceta del Vigía without so many fences around them. Even so, it continues to be a place full of history, charm, and beauty that is definitely worth visiting.

The history of it and the cost and all the details of the architecture, construction, and furnishings is interesting if you're into that. At the end of the tour is the gift shop and you can purchase some refreshments including alcoholic beverages. I wanted a pina colada and it was terrible! Ruined my taste for the last time I had one in PR. Overall, it was just ok and we got the low end tickets which were 18.00 a piece (not incl taxes). My recommendation is to drive up there and walk around the outside and take pics.

He also took many photos for us and even joined in on some of them. Raul was on time picking us up in the morning and was very pleasant and professional. Our destinations during the day included the rainforest, a natural waterslide, a delicious food kiosk, the beach and a bio bay tour. Raul has a wealth of knowledge about Puerto Rico and its culture and was very enthusiastic and energetic throughout the tour. It was evident he truly loves what he does. He also has a great sense of pride in his home and its history. While I most definitely enjoyed the delicious food and wonderful sights and experiences, Raul himself left a profound impression on me. He is one of the most genuine, humble and hardworking people I have ever met. He has a terrific sense of humor and was very easy to get along with. After spending a few hours with him, I felt like he was part of our group of friends. At the end of the tour when he was officially "off shift," we invited him to join us at a small neighborhood bar near the condo at which we were staying. After a long day, he could have chosen to decline and go home; instead, we shared a few drinks and stories and lots of laughs. It was a fabulous ending to an epic day!!

She was extremely knowledgeable about the rain forest and Puerto Rico in general. We used 2 buses and the 2nd driver was equally as knowledgeable. The tour was punctual, very comfortable conditions and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend using their services.
