We got one beef empanadas and one beef Arepas with beef, avocado,shrimps, and tomatoes which is close to sandwiches. Empanadas was fried to crispy and beef inside was pretty juicy and tasty. Arepas was a new item for me which actually was juicy as well. Fresh and tasty. There no table service so we need to get the food and find a place to sit. Perhps it is not fair to ding this place for increasing their prices in this inflation economy, but considering their staples are pretty simple - cheese, beans, arepa... in my humble opinion they have priced themselves out of the market. My gf brought me here. The food is really good. I had the cachapa with pernil, chicken salad and cheese. My gf had the arepa cacao 1. A whole bunch of stuff on it; ensalada de gallina, carne mechada, pollo desmenuzado, y camarones. The flavors were really good. The restaurant is spacious. My only complaint is why Venezuelan food has to be so damn expensive. When you go to Cuban or other Latino restaurants you never spend so much on the food and it's just as good and hearty. Was looking for something to eat in the area and I came across this place called Arepas El Cacao. Upon entering I was the only guest inside but it was a cute little restaurant. While I was placing my order I was talking to the worker pretty much just asking her what she recommends and she told me to go with either cacao 1 or cacao 3, I decided to go with number 1 combo, beef empanada and paired it with a mango juice. I will say it is a little pricy. The Arepa was really good! It was filled with shrimp, cheese, chicken salad. This is a hidden gem on the side of the road which is not easy to get into. Know that the parking lot is tiny and there is only one road in/out. I might reccommend parking in one of the adjacent lots and walking through the parking lots. I'm sure that's frowned upon, but will make your life much, much easier when you arrive and depart. Also, the service is a bit slow, but, I don't think you'll mind once you have your food - totally worth it. Onto the food, it's excellent! The arepas have tons of flavor and are very filling; you definitely don't need more than one to feel full. I'm bummed that I haven't tried a smoothie yet. As I watched them be made, they looked incredible; definitely on the list for the next visit. Second time eating here. Both times the food has been very good. The cachapas are my favorite. Both times we've come have been in the weekend around lunch time. We haven't had any of the problems that others mentioned worth customer service, lack of filling, or bad tastes. I love specialty stores! What did I get I got the cachapas with beef on the inside. I am no expert when it comes to arepas or cachapas but all I know is I like this. It was filled with shredded beef, white and yellow cheese, sweet plantains, avocado, and egg. The arepa crust was crunchy. The beef was juicy and all the flavors was stupendous, like unbelievable, like no words can describe!!!! They also have empanadas, tequenos (cheese sticks), tropical smoothie drinks, coffee, desserts and drinks from Venezuela, and beef soup with lots of veggies and potatoes. Prices are under $10 at the most. The only drawback is they have bar on wall seating and two outside normal height tables. It gets packed, and it makes sense! Although the name refers to chocolate, it's a Venezuelan expression that simply means "The Best" Arepas. And they are good. I had the shredded beef version with white cheese. It was particularly good with the homemade green sauce. The also have cachapas. Traditionally we have arepas with butter or cheese, but this place opens them up like pita pockets and stuffs them with heavenly goodness only your taste buds can explain. I ordered the arepa with chicken and my boyfriend had the arepa with pork. Both meats were seasoned very well. Don't be intimidated by the size of it...it's enough for one person. :-) Several fresh juices are available, including orange juice that's squeezed to order. Yes! I used to visit this place a lot more often. But in the recent months, the serving sizes of the fillings in the arepas have gotten progressively smaller. The cleanliness of this establishment is questionable. The staff try to be nice but half the time they're too busy having their own conversation (chismoseando) and making their own dinner to even realize you're standing there waiting. Today I went and they failed to put two of the four fillings I asked for in my arepa. I had no way of knowing until I made it home. Genuinely unimpressed with the declining quality. I had a friend tell me about this place because I tried my first one at a music festival in 2018 and absolutely loved it.
