Customers/Consumers beware of Steel Power Equipments Corp./ Steel Power USA. Be careful if you are…read morebuying directly from them or a contractor is buying products from them to install at your property. They may not voluntarily perform any repairs or fix any issues, even if you have a 10-year warranty on the product. The week of August 6, 2026, Steel Power came to install an attached insulated roof pergola to my residence. The pergola started leaking the same week of installation. The installers kept coming to seal the leak by applying mastic and caulking to the pergola and it would end up leaking at another spot. It went on for weeks. Eventually, I requested for a manager to come to the jobsite. The manager did not show up but I received a message on September 9, 2026, that Steel Power has concluded a plan which they will be removing all the layering of sealant they have applied due to the leakage, and use another form of sealant/caulking to ensure everything is properly and sealed or they would hire another third-party team to complete the work. The manager never showed up, but Liliana did show the morning on the first day of installation inquiring about payment. The installers were supposed to come for repairs on September 5, September 12, September 19, and September 23. The insulated roof and the gutter are still leaking. The more it rains, the more it leaks and at more location. I hire an inspector to inspect the pergola and installation. The following are some of the issues the inspector find and identified: Extensive mastic and/or caulking was observed on the pergola roof, ceiling, gutter system, and attachment areas which appear consistent with repeated attempts to address reported leakage conditions. Despite these measures, evidence of ongoing moisture intrusion was observed at the time of inspection. Ponding water was observed on the pergola roof surface near the edge, indicating improper roof pitch. Water is not draining into the gutters which can lead to water infiltration, structural damage, and accelerated deterioration of roofing materials. Standing water was present in the gutter(s), due to improper pitch. There were unconventional repairs made in an attempt to repair gutter leaks. The downspout was installed in an unworkmanlike manner and need straps, connection. Areas of missing and/or improperly installed flashing were observed. Heavy sealant was present at several locations where flashing is commonly used to help direct water away from building components. Excessive reliance on sealant may be less reliable than properly installed flashing for long-term water management. The roof panels and fasteners were sealed in multiple areas to "repair" leaks which is considered temporary. The metal posts supporting the attached pergola are not level which indicate improper installation and can compromise structural integrity, create uneven weight distribution, and potentially lead to accelerated wear or failure of connections. The posts should be releveled and secured to ensure proper support and longevity of the pergola. Moisture was observed at the bases of several pergola posts and water movement was evident around post penetrations. This indicates water is infiltrating through the tile concrete interface and potentially compromising the structural integrity of the posts and underlying patio surface. Water penetration was observed in multiple areas where the pergola attaches to the wall, with visible gaps present and marked with blue tape. Water intrusion at attachment points can lead to structural damage, fungal growth, and deterioration of wall materials. The interior ceiling of the pergola displays previous caulking repair attempts; however, active leaks were still occurring at the time of inspection. Water intrusion through the ceiling indicates the initial repairs were unsuccessful and the underlying cause has not been fully resolved.
