When you think you have mastered it the weather and wind will change and its a different course. The first hole really is one of the most testing in the world. The bathroom with the Victorian shower is one of my favourites as I've not seen anything similar anywhere else. The tearoom and shop are both very good - great home baking at the tearoom. The Ranger Centre is well worth a visit. There's interesting displays there and it's very child-friendly. There's often Ranger-led walks and other events which are educational and fun. There's a wildlife garden near the Ranger Centre, and many nature trails and walking trails through the grounds of the Country Park. The Castle Gardens are lovely to wander round in, and they vary a lot through the year. May is beautiful when the rhododendrons and azaleas are in bloom, but the walled garden is probably at its best a little later when the roses are in bloom. There's a lovely sundial there too with following words on it: The kiss of the sun for pardon The song of the birds for mirth You are nearer God's heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth.

The staff are so helpful and they always have time for the children. I have never seen the pool busy and when you swim from the deep to the shallow end you have a great view of Davaar Island. It feels like you are swimming in the loch. Once you have finished swimming or in the gym there is a cafe with lovely home baking. There is also a library in the same building.

Front 9 is inland normal course and the back nine if Lynx style with the added pressure of wind from the coast! Defo worth a visit 4 stars only due to the price of a round! 60/70 quid!
