It was my Mom's insurance first & only option for rehab center, so, we made it as positive as possible. I had Robin (hospital liason) and Alysha (I believe either the Director or Mgr) give me a tour and get a feel for the center. They went above & beyond to make a visit happen. It was an all right place...nothing fancy. But, pretty small & 'cozy'. Really good Rehab center and at the time, about 25-30 residents with their physical therapists actively working. Keep in mind, I just 'dropped' in...to see the place unannounced, too. Well, the residents were clearly enjoying themselves--ikr...PT? Fun?!! Well, Mom has been there for about 6 wks now and she is doing well. Besides, she LOVES every person that takes care of her. Like, seriously, everyone:) I can't tell you how much seeing her happy & working on herself means to my family & I. Keep up the Great Work, Montclair! They never made sure call button was by him! I had to tell them his balance and body was in pain 24/7! I was his wife/ caregiver/best friend! I told them about his health and didn't seem to care! Finally after falling 3rd time I went to the guy who was in charge and told them he wasn't getting better but only worse! He sent a nurse and she took his vitals! His heart rate was 160! After alot of complaining on my part! I told them to call ambulance and takehim back to hospital! They treated him over a week! Still very weak! 10 days later he died at home! Wouldn't send my dog there for care!

The place reeks of sewer and Marijuana. The staff doesn't treat the residents all fair. They pick and choose who they like and the ones they don't either get treated like crap or neglected. My husband is always complaining of the food, not getting a shower for weeks, seeing staff abuse residents, amongst other things. Staff loves my husband but hate me. They wont take or return my calls and have blocked me on social media. Theyve only included me in maybe 5 care plan meetings in 5 years when it should've been 20. And in those 5 meetings, none of my concerns were addressed, but event coordinator thought his involvement in activities was more important than his health. He had his leg amputated because they wouldn't take him to a professional doctor and tried handling alone. He still isn't walking with prosthesis after 4 years. There's stuff that should be happening and stuff that shouldn't be happening. (If you catch my drift). The administrator should be fired and never allowed to work in this kind of field ever. Same with event coordinator. I really wouldn't recommend this hell hole to my worst enemy. They change the rules and protocol to their convenience. This place should be closed down and condemned. They only get a 1 star rating for lack of a 0. ​

I'm in the process of considering where to put my grandmother, who doesn't want to leave her small town in Iowa, which breaks my heart. The Rose Blumkin Jewish Home was incredible when I visited. They have thought through all the details. For example, all the residents' doors are painted different colors and have unique lights outside the door. If you've ever gotten lost walking up and down the halls of a nursing home, where every door and every wall looks the same, you can imagine how hard it must be for a person with dementia to find her or her room. They also have multiple dinning room options, so people feel like they have more choice in their life. Plus, the Jewish Academy is on the same campus, so the preschool children are always coming over to the Home and providing a little cheer for the elderly adults. I wish I had an option like this in Nevada, Iowa!

They met and exceeded every expectation we had! Mom flourished with the socialization, the activities, and the monitored therapy!! She got stronger, more confident, and every day said "it was a great day!" The staff is excellent - very caring, very professional, very attentive! Lots of hugs every day! The Recreational Therapy Director Larry was absolutely fabulous! He has so many different things for the residents to do, and every day there's something organized morning, noon, and night! You can tell everyone there truly cares about the people entrusted to their care. The residents are so happy and friendly - we met them all, and nobody had a bad word to say about their care or their living situation. The rooms are all private, comfortable, quiet and clean. It was our first experience with a Skilled Nursing Facility, and we were all completely impressed and eternally grateful that Mom was able to spend time there!
