Coach David came highly recommended by her club coach and we've been very impressed by him. He has helped her improve her shooting and technical skills as well as coached her through the mental side of the game. What really sets Coach David apart is that he truly takes the time to get to know each player and find out what makes them tick both on and off the field. He came to several of my daughter's club games to see her in action which really helped build trust and foster a stronger relationship. When I asked my daughter (unprompted) what she liked about Coach David, this is what she said: "I like the way he talks to me... the conversations we have really help. I first saw that there was one in Balboa Park (which is currently still under winter maintenance), and upon some further research have discovered there are ~15 pools around San Diego with lap lane hours during the week and weekends, with a drop in rate of $4 per day! I've suffered through so many swims at the indoor pool at 24 hour fitness, not knowing there were these available to me! Specifically regarding the pool at Carmel Valley Rec Center. I came on a weekday evening (5:30pm) in May. So I assume things may change in the summer. But I had a lovely experience! The outside of the Rec center, and parking area is much nicer than some of the other rec centers around San Diego I've visited. I paid my $4 entry fee and went through the locker room. Of note, there are no lockers at this pool (there are at some of the others), however I also felt much safer leaving my bag out on a chair at this one than some of the others, there are showers. The water was warm enough, but not too warm during my laps. I swam for 45 minutes and had the whole lane to myself the entire time. It looks like there's a big slide that goes into the pool (that wasn't open while I was there), as well as a cute play area for kids that's right next to the pool.

Parents, stay away from this program. You will pay a lot of money, and deal with a lot of hardship and coaching BS, for very little outcome. For boys, their recruiting process is awful - worse than that, it's nonexistent . Their coaches are biased, there is no camaraderie on the teams, and no attempt to build any. Coaches will not talk to the parents, will not give players guidance or positive direction, playtime is entirely arbitrary to how the coach feels on that week . They just want your money. If your child is a boy, look at an MLS next program. They're relatively new in San Diego, but they're increasing. College coaches and college programs look more favorably on MLS next than on boys ECNL.

We went from trying out tennis to soccer, basketball, and then wrestling. When he turned 6 I told him he needs to pick a sport as his main focus, and he picked tennis! He said missed April very much and loves the way she teaches him the sport. She is very patient with the kids and does drills over and over until they nail it. He sometimes does clinics on Tuesday's with a group of other kids but his favorite practices are on Monday's when he gets private lessons with her. She recently was sponsored by Wilson and offical Camp for the San Diego Aviators (the pro team). She invited some of her kids (including my son) to be in commercial that shows her coaching skills. It will be played on the Jumbotron at matches! She's amazing, you won't be let down.

There is ample parking in a lot and go up a small hill towards the rec center. When we came into the center, the basketball courts were decided into 2 halves. The group of about 10-12 kids played for about 45 mins. The basketball coaches were very nice and welcoming. We enjoyed the coaches and how encouraging they were to the kids. Outside the rec center is a playground, fields, and picnic areas. There were games happening, Zumba, and kids playing on the playground. This place wasn't crowded when we went but I am sure this place gets crowded when it's warm. Nice place to have a party as well. There are bathrooms available and the library is right across the street. Nice place to check out if your kids are in need of a play to play, join sports, or have a party.
