Getting chilly. And time to think about firewood. We have been purchasing from Arizona Cordwood for years and have always been pleased. This year was no exception. Called this morning and spoke to a cheerful Holly. She told us that delivery can be scheduled for tomorrow morning. OK. A few moments later, we get a call from owner Rick, who tells us they had a cancellation and their driver can deliver in an hour. We dig out the tarp from the garage storage and position it next to the driveway. A few moments later, Mingo arrives with our cord of mesquite. Get a decent amount of wood for $44. Drive into the lot (may be a little scary for the inexperienced) Talk to the people in the trailer office, they will fill you in on how they work. You can load the wood your self and save money, or have them do it. They DO deliver but it gets pricy. they have TONS of mesquite and pine wood, i personally go with mesquite for the smell and it is denser (so burns hotter) then pine. Arizona Cordwood is a clean, well organized business. I went in to buy a small amount of wood, they have small or large "slots". The small slot is great for an evening fire. The large slot is perfect for a couple days of camping. I paid for my slot, back up my car to the slot and put it in the trunk of my car, boom, I was out of there in ten minutes. read more

Complete rip off. I called about prices for Juniper. The price per cord was $349. I decided to go down and get 1/4 cord. The lady told me that I could do one full row in the bed of my truck, side to side, bottom to top and then one half of a row. The price turned out to be $183, which is not anywhere close to 1/4th the price of a full cord. That experience led me to do some research. First, one cord of wood is 128 cubic feet of wood. The bed of my truck (2006 F150 Supercrew with 6.5' bed) holds 41 cubic feet. One row side to side, bottom to top is roughly 12.9 cubic feet. Adding one half of a row brings the total to 19.35 cubic feet. One fourth of a cord is 32 cubic feet. I was ripped off in two ways: 1. My ignorance of the full capacity in cubic feet of a cord of wood led me to get 12.65 cubic feet LESS than I paid for. 2. If they are going to sell a 1/4 cord, it should be 1/4th of the price of a full cord. Save yourself some time, money and aggravation by knowing cubic feet capacity in advance and challenging the seller. read more

My fiancee ordered a cord of wood for his sister for a Christmas present. We were told by Betty delivery would be between 9 and noon. We had errands to run and were home at 850am, only to find out that the wood was dumped in the driveway at 835am. The owner was a real jerk, my fiancee was calm and cool despite being talked to very harshly. I am glad he handled it, I would not have been as nice and non confrontational He refused to credit us any of the $462.49 and said he'd just come pick up the wood and that would be the end of him doing business with us, but he could not pick it up until 2 days from now. My future sister in law would not be able to get her car out of the garage! We went ahead and kept the wood, and carried it to her back yard. WE are choosing to NEVER do business with this place again. Customer Service should be a priority, and they do NOT possess ANY customer service skills AT ALL!! Great place, excellent wood. My husband is disabled so could not help load, two of the guys jumped in and loaded a 1/2 cord into my truck. Friendly, helpful, yes you pay for it but compared to my neighbors who spent over 200.00 going out to cut their own, not to mention the work. I was just driving through Tucson on my way to Santa Fe and bought a truck worth of mesquite and Pecan. This is great wood and for the price you cant beat it. A cord of Oak up here cost $450.00. I saved $100.00 off this price for equally as hard of a wood. I Will be stopping by here every time I go through Tucson. Ohhh, the owner and lady in the office were very insightful in helping me pick the right type of wood for my needs. Like another poster said big wood piles everywhere can be a bit overwhelming but just go in the office and they take the mystery out of the bulk buying experience. I've received much, much, MUCH better. Sure, they sell wood, but it's apparently a monopoly in Tucson since no one else tries to bring in quantities/qualities of wood, so they charge tooooooooooooooo much and then when I went there I was "sold" a 1/4 cord of wood when I had to load it into the back of my Outback myself (Hey, I'm not complaining about having to load it myself, at all!!!), but then it really, only, truly measured a 1/5 of a cord in reality.
