It was unexpected and quite tragic and when I got the news, I didn't know what to do. Aftermath was called in after I had hired another company who didn't do the whole job and I was stuck trying to figure out what to do. I had actually tried to do the job myself. I knew I had to get rid of all porous materials so I had a dumpster delivered. After spending only 15 minutes in the house wearing a paper suit, N95 mask and booties to cover my shoes, I knew I couldn't do this alone. I called Aftermath and they came out the very next day to evaluate the situation and started work the next day. They removed a large portion of biohazard material that the other company had completely missed, brought in a huge ozone machine to run the entire time that they worked in the home and helped empty the home of all porous materials. At one time they had 4 people working and at the end I was provided all documentation, lists of things that were thrown away, shown where the biohazard material was removed, and even shown time cards to see who was in the home and how long everyone worked. I'm a little less stressed now, there is still work to be done, but their job is finished and I couldn't be happier with the results. A sudden death of a family member is an incredibly tragic experience and Aftermath Services helped me so much. Additionally, they worked with my mom's homeowner insurance company so none of this cost me out of pocket (except for the dumpster which I didn't know that they would have provided).

I kept my mouth shut but it definitely raised some red flags. I listened to all three companies separately and then decided to do some serious research online. While some companies have plenty of glowing Google reviews, once you start looking at other sources like Yelp, the Arizona ROC, and the BBB, the picture can look very different. Consider this a friendly warning to homeowners: do your homework. After digging deeper, I was fortunate to find ASAP Restoration. One thing that immediately stood out is that they do not work referral deals with plumbers, do not pay kickbacks, and do not play games with deductibles. They simply focus on doing the job correctly. The team was extremely professional. The mitigation/demo crew handled the water damage quickly and thoroughly, and the reconstruction team has been excellent. Knowing the warranty period was set to expire in about a year, I researched termite companies in the phoenix area and "House Doctor Exterminating" had good reviews. Upon digging further I found that the company is still locally owned and operated and has not been sold to private equity. The owner, David, is awesome. We had several talks and he really impressed me with his knowledge, all I could think is "I want to hire this guy". David gave us an initial quote for another 5 year bond in Spring of 2025. Since we still had a year of warranty left with the home builder we budgeted and saved. When I called David back in March of 2026 he still honored his old quote, without me asking! We set an appointment and the tech came out on time and performed the work safely and efficiently. He explained the entire process, what chemicals he would be using, addressed any safety concerns I had and got to work. If I ever have any future need for a termite company or general pest control David is my new go to, hands down, no questions asked.
