They created a workable layout and helped us really think how we would use the space, they provided exceptional quality products that were expertly installed, and they followed up and managed this huge project every step of the way. The basement finishes flowed beautifully with the rest of the house and no one would guess it was finished after we had been there several years. The various workers who came in to our home were courteous, skilled and honest- which is important when you do a big project and have someone in your home on a daily basis for a month. I felt they lead us to get the very best results for the most realistic price. If we have anything we need on a larger scale (not a basic repair ) they will always be my first call. We…read morehired a reputable cabinet company to look at our kitchen cabinets and recommend the best (and least invasive) way to correct Artisan's (and Alin's) inferior work. They initially recommended removing the facings only, but unfortunately, they will have to remove at least half of the cabinets because there are too many flaws and the staining work is too inferior. The painter/stainer looked at our cabinets and said (and I quote): "This is a half-ass job, and I can't match the stain and wouldn't want to try because of the inferior work." Also, the Artisan amateurs rigged the cabinet hinges with wooden shims and the Butler's pantry hinges with cardboard shims to make them work (SEE pictures). If this type of rigging doesn't seem amateurish, I don't know what does.

We had received excellent work from Service Masters and Matt Baker Construction, two separate companies that work together or independently, depending on your needs. Because our experience had been so positive we decided to use them again I went to Yelp to look up the contact information for Matt Baker Construction and was very surprised to see only two reviews, both of them quite negative. Their reports were precisely the opposite of ours so we decided to proceed based on our own experience. Well, this is now just a few weeks later and I am pleased to report that everything is back in place, looking great, completed in a timely matter, within budget, and nothing but friendly and responsive communication with the owner and his staff and subs. I know that we live in a time when one or two negative statements online can literally destroy the reputation of a vendor. This is a family-owned business and they acknowledge they don't know much about Facebook or Yelp. That's okay because I don't know much about sheetrock, and I'm glad they do. Based on two major projects over a four-year period of time, I heartily recommend Matt Baker Construction.

State Farm would not back his work and only offered to file another claim to correct something he should've done. Communication was difficult at best. He has a bit of an attitude and hot head. The biggest complaint was shotty floor finish. There were issues from the beginning and immediately after completion. He said there was nothing wrong and it was my fault and my dogs. The finish is horrible. They were in better shape the day after the fire than when he completed. We had all the hardwoods done eight years before and they were better after the fire than what his workers left us with. He was rude to my wife over the issue. Our house cleaner said the floors were the best she'd seen before the fire and the worst after the fire work. He ignored all complaints and would not stand back of his work or honor the 5yr warranty as part of the State Farm PSP. All profit driven and uses State Farm as his primary income provider. I would not recommend for ANY work. My floors are still the crappiest finish and durability. My son's floor finish is still better than mine after 11yrs and used the same contractor we did originally. I wish we would've requested our original contractor for the floor restoration. One year left on Matt Baker's warranty and still thin to no finish in many places. Very poor finish. It has not stood up for any wear. He always had an excuse or blame on us. Not pleased.

The owner was very helpful and stayed in contact with me throughout the entire project. The gutter clean out was just completed and the two workers were very nice and thorough.
