The on-site property management, as well as corporate policies are deplorably ineffectual. Should you decide to move here, the following is what you will have to endure on a daily basis: Constant overwhelming trash pileup. Shamco refuses to pay for larger dumpsters or pay for Morris Crossing to pick up twice a week. So, trash piles up with rodents feasting on it. Dog waste which is littered all over the community because Shamco simply does not enforce the rules. If you have a Doggie - no doubt you will step in someone else's dog waste - on a daily basis. Mice/rodent Infestation which has been ongoing because Shamco does ABSOLUTELY nothing to clean up the trash and dog waste. The inevitable result is that the vermin have now found their way into the dwellings. Several people have moved out because of the rodents that seem to be overwhelming at the community. Poor illumination at night because Shamco refuses to install proper lighting to make the community safe. While vacant apartments have all lights burning all day and night, there is no clear exterior illumination for the tenants who find themselves outdoors at night. Shamco refuses to install cameras on the property. Subsequently, there is no way to identify the perpetrators of rampant illegal dumping or those tenants (and non residents) who do not pick up their dog waste. So these problems remain unresolved, and needless to say, the safety of residents is continually at risk. Shamco does not hire professional plumbers or maintenance people; their solution to tenants with any kind of issue is to just have an unqualified handyman do the work, resulting in improper repairs. Ignoring issues. If providing tenant support requires Shamco to spend money, quite often they will just ignore the tenants' issues. The Parking Lot has been riddled with Pot Holes with no repair in sight which will lead to Flat Tires and unfortunately injured residents. Shamco will raise your rent, but there is no result in proper management or maintenance for the neighborhood. It is not cheap to live here, but don't expect that your rent will provide for proper and timely maintenance and management of this community. They advertise themselves as a luxury community but that is a severely empty promise. If you move here, do not expect value for your money, safety, proper management or care. Shame on Shamco, but more importantly, renters beware."RENTERS BEWARE"

Bugs,…read morenoisy neighbors, horrible washer/dryer sheet smells in apartments that also permeate throughout everything in your apartment (including my $1,700 mattress that I had to throw out b/c it smelled so bad!) and into your cars as the vents are full of lint that fall on vehicles. Cars were flooded in the past and were destroyed - as such, tenants moved out. If you have an issue with a noisy, harassing neighbor, you need to take them to the Nutley Court yourself as management will NOT intervene and abide by the Lease you sign. They also play funny with $ they owe you when you vacate. Steer clear and look elsewhere! I hope this doesn't get taken down as they pay companies to remove bad reviews.

It's now converted into luxury apartments. I was "totally amazed" walking through the complex after soooo many years. There's a beautiful staircase leading to the main level. The walls are adorned with photos of interesting and influential people that have made Newark great. A Whole Foods and some cool and colorful art cutout life size sculptures are located on the main level. It appears retail shops can be set up here. It'll be interesting sometime to just check out the apartments. I'd like to thank Jeannette L. for providing some great information on the apartment complex. ABSOLUTELY DYSFUNCTIONAL…read more I want to share our experience applying at The Green so folks have an idea what they're about to experience. If I've read a review like this I'd save myself money, time and countless headaches. To preface, my spouse and our 3 months old baby were looking for a 2 bedroom place and The Green seemed to be a great option. We toured the apartment with a leasing agent and decided to apply the same day. The first red flag is that not only they want you to upload all your paystubs, tax documents, etc but YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM YOUR LOGIN AND PASSWORD FROM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. Yes, you've read this correctly - they want you to share login and password from your bank account. We thought that was a bit excessive but we were in a time crunch so we moved forward. After a few days the leasing manager let us know that we were approved and sent a lease through DocuSign. We've signed the lease and on Thursday thinking we'll be picking up the keys soon. And this is where things became more and more dysfunctional. First, on Friday at 6PM the leasing agent called us and told us that even though we were approved the lease can't be signed because their accountant won't approve it. (WTF we thought, since when does an accountant have to approve a lease???). She then said that because we were both on parental leave a portion of our income is provided through insurance coverage and therefore they don't trust that we will return to work. She voided the lease that we've signed previously. We both provided official letters of employment only to be told that those guys at The Green can only do verification by phone. Literally the process to verify a prospective tenant is they call the number you provide and ask the HR person to release sensitive information about you like your name, SSN and salary. After some back and forth with HR we've sent all the documents we've had only to be told by The Green that our move in date will be postponed until we provide them a paystub which shows a salary after returning to work from family leave. And if you think the dysfunction ends there you're mistaken. In order to secure the lease they REQUIRE YOU TO DRIVE TO LIVINGSTON, NJ IN PERSON AND HAND OVER CERTIFIED CHECKS TO THEIR ACCOUNTANT. Yes, it's 2025 and these guys still have no clue that payments can be made through the internet. I would highly recommend everyone to avoid this place like a plague, dysfunction and blatant incompetence is what you'll encounter if you decide to apply.

I'm giving the Green a four star rating due to presentation. I do not live there…read more I was given a tour by a young man named Nate; professional man. The Green is a decent little spot. And just like its competitor the Avalon, there are quite a few fees that I think you need to look into. For example the amenities fee of $495 (If I remembered correctly), and the pet fees. Their fees sort of mirror the Avalon's. Now after having toured two Avalon communities, I must say that the big difference I observed with the Green was the apartment sizes. The apartments at the Green are a tad bit smaller compared to those of the Avalon's. It's almost as if they constructed to be really tight in space; way too many angles here and there. I cannot remember how much parking is, but I remembered them being "assigned" parking spots. Also, it's basically like one parking spot per apartment. If you have two cars, there is where it gets a little tricky...you'd have to call and inquire on that one. I was impressed by the rooftop. You can ACTUALLY see the Empire State Building and the Freedom Tower. Had it not been for the trees, you'd literally be able to see the entire NYC Skyline. The rooftop is a nice little spot when the weather is nice. They also have a very nice lounge and guest area.
