And before we met, I found the house I wanted just from the online info. It was New Year's Eve and she went to bat to get all the paperwork done that day. She found out someone else was making an offer on the house so she helped me with the offer details to ensure I'd be the winner. She's very responsive to random questions, important or trivial. One of the seller's requirements was a 30-day close. I didn't anticipate a problem because I was already pre-qualified by the mortgage company that I'd used before. Turns out they are so under-staffed they said they'd not be able to do anything in 30 days. Yvonne had a referral at hand - Cheryl Montenegro at Finance Home America - who made the deadline without any problem (or at least for me). Yvonne is also great on referrals for service suppliers. I'm fairly new in El Paso so her experienced advice is very useful.

We were moving in from overseas and did not even have a car so her and her husband took us looking at houses, two full days driving around El Paso! The purchase went very smooth and Patti was very patient with us walking us through our first home purchase. Three years later we were again moving overseas and we picked Patti again as our realtor. Again time was of the essence and Patti made great recommendations to us and we got a full price offer right away which enabled our family to make our overseas move together. My wife then showed the customer several properties. Now, Pearl has asked my wife to give her referral fee of 25% seller's side commission. Pearl has not done anything to deserve this commission and has not offered to do anything to justify her receipt of this commission. Pearl even threatened my wife with the choice of paying Pearl a referral commission or Pearl would write the contract herself. Of course, she can not legally do this because she is not licensed in New Mexico.

More troubling, she withheld basic information about the sale process and outright denied my legal status as a co-owner of the property. I felt completely disrespected, dismissed, and excluded from the process. I would strongly advise against working with this agent, particularly if you're navigating a sensitive legal situation.
