I dropped off my car after hours due to the plastic mud guard having come loose and having had it damaged through dragging on the highway. There is a whole system set up to drop off the car, leave the key in an envelope, put a message on the envelope, and then drop the whole thing into the mail slot so it is locked in the office. I fully expected a multi hundred dollar estimate, with a new part and labor, but it wasn't that way at all. The estimate was $70 (including $20 for the state safety inspection). It was of course a simple fix, but kudos to this shop for being honest about it and not trying to upsell, up charge, or do anything other than what was needed. I wish more auto places would be like this, but until they are, Arlington Auto Repair on Four Mile Run is the place to go! read more

I would not chance it. I'm not saying they don't do quality work. I'm saying they will find an issue where there shouldn't be one. I walked in asking for an oil change followed by an emissions test. They said they could fit me in for an emissions but not an oil change. When I told them the check engine light was on, they suddenly had the time to do a diagnostics but not an oil change. They wanted to charge me 1300 plus tax in order to fix it. Most of that is labor since the part is $150 max. But we all know the check engine light could literally be anything. So I took it to another shop, got the oil change, and as expected.. the check engine light turned off. I also passed my emissions. I say all of this to say shop around before selecting this place of business. They will get every dime out of you if you let them. I should also add: the front desk guy was kind. But it appears the mechanics are not. One guy jumped into a conversation I was having with the clerk when I had a question. The mechanic's rude response: "well, it's your car." Not an appropriate response to any customer, let alone one who is already engaged in a productive conversation with the clerk. He just wanted to be negative. Even slammed the door as I exited the building, but also ended slamming that door in front of another customer trying to exit. read more

Don't use them! I was told that they were going to mount 2 Michelin tires and I got Arroyo tires. Well, after 3 weeks, the right back tire, Arroyo was blown out. I went to Target and 5 minutes later from picking up my package to find my right back tire completely deflated. I had to drive it to the local Shell gas station to get the spare tire mounted. They would not honor the defective tire that they mounted. Don't use them! read more

My oil change was partially done. I brought my parts, they claimed they could not remove my filter, still charged for regular exchange leaving my old filter. It took them a whole 8 hours, to do front brakes, light bulb change and tune up. Said they would do a free diagnoises. They changed me and anyway and so called gave me 25 discount. They change prices and ended up charhing me an extra 75 for additional spark plugs. I paid over almost 100 more than they orginally quoted. Be careful dealing with this location. read more

I've been going to Arlington Auto Repair for years for all my routine maintenance and inspections, so when I was rear ended by a teenage driver I selected their shop for my repairs. They spent weeks on this issue, dealing back and forth with the insurance company, ordering parts, and assisting me through the entire process from the estimate and photos through the approval and the work. It was no small amount of hassle, as anyone who has dealt with insurance paperwork can imagine, and the backup camera had to be replaced on the vehicle so there was much more to deal with beyond body damage. They handled everything and set my expecations realistically about the amount of time the car would take to get repaired after approval. I have always found them to be honorable to deal with, and am happy to continue giving them my business. read more

I took my car in for only aj emissions inspection which only requires plugging in a device under the steering wheel and letting a computer give the results after mere seconds. I stress, there is nothing else anyone should be looking at or raising the car up for. my car was raised up, inspected underneath and I was told I couldnt even do the test because I had mutiple leaks along my exhaust pipe. This was wrong, unnecessary and irrelevant and I left with nothing accomplished. They couldn't even price out getting that fixed if I wanted to. know your stuff people and don't go here !!!! read more

I needed a timing belt replaced on an older car, called around to several local shops in Arlington that wanted to charge $200 - $280 for the service, but these guys did it for $100 (I had already purchased the belt, if I had needed the part it would have been $120). They did a great job, got me in and out quickly the same day. Will absolutely be coming to them for future maintenance. read more

The worst place to go. I won't recommend it. I went for inspection and he advised to change tyres in the car and brakes. He said to change it at this place and only changing brakes would cost $400. I asked another mechanic he was changing it for $80. The crew was rude. Don't go for inspection there. He said I won't fail the inspection if I pay $20, if I don't pay he will fail it. Dropped my car off in July to get my truck repaired through my insurance USAA. Needless to say either he doesn't know how to send off an estimate to insurance or maybe he doesn't like insurance claims. I had to call USAA and have them reach out to him and walk him through the process. Needless to say I picked my Truck up in September. I called him last Thursday to see when I could pick my truck up he said pick it up at 5:00. I just happened to come through at 12:00 and it was done he was upset because I came in early. The guy that runs the Shop is the worst!! Horrible Service. They don't deserve a Star not even Stardust. read more

I came here for a state inspection, and they tried to rob me of $475! After looking at my car, Kahn said everything was fine except the shocks on one of my back wheels. Apparently I needed to replace the shocks on both back wheels, which he insisted I needed to fix to pass inspection. He said that he's required by law to put a fail sticker on the car (which I told him to do), but he said he wouldn't. Probably because I didn't need shocks to pass!! He tried to charge me $475 to fix them on the spot, but lowered it to $450 when I was leaving. I took my car to another mechanic a few days later and passed, no questions asked. I'm still annoyed that he tried to scam me out of money, probably because of my gender. If they tried to pull one on me for an inspection, imagine what they'd do if your car really needed repairs! read more

Kind of nondescript garage. I went in with my groupon for an oil change for ~$45 and they mentioned after I brought up groupon that I could have just asked them for the groupon price instead of buying the groupon. I went on a weekday and they performed the oil change after I just walked in and waited about 45 min without appointment. Way better deal than at my dealership. I have a handful of good mechanics garages in NoVA, and this place just made top 5. Update, found out my spill pan had been left loose. I had to pay $65 at a dealership to get it reattached. read more

Called a few days ago and was told they would be open this weekend and to get my inspection then. Tried to make an appointment and was advised they wouldn't take them just to show up when they open (8am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday). On Sunday I show up a little early and wait for them to open at 9am while the line starts forming and forming and forming. After a long wait, calls that went unanswered and talking to other customers waiting it appears they are very unreliable and won't be opening. But the guy on the phone says they'll be open, their website says they'll be open then a check in on here and it shows they're closed on Sundays so I depart. Go home and keep calling and it's busy it's it's obvious somebody showed up and took the phone off the hook. I drive back over and low and behold they're open. I pull in and the guy tells me they're out of inspection stickers...great, it's the 31st and my inspection runs out today and only planned on coming here today because the guy previously told me on the phone I'd be ok. He then proceeded to tell me I could go to the Exxon down the road, great, the one with a line 15 cars deep which I would've gotten in much earlier had I known, we'll now I know. This is an unreliable place, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Fixed my tire with a nail in it in less than fifteen minutes. These guys are cheap and efficient. Total cost was $15. Best part: they let you watch them work on the car. I went to a different auto repair shop in Arlington that quoted me almost $2000 for "necessary" repairs I needed immediately. My car is older and I assumed I would need everything done. I got a second opinion from Arlington Auto Repair and was told half of the issues were either not immediate or simply unnecessary. They were honest and gave me a far more reasonable quote. The repairs were done very quickly and my car has been running well ever since. This is my go-to place now for any repairs, oil changes, and inspections. read more

I toke my car in to get a vehicle State and Emissions test they had me in and out within 30 minutes of arriving!

My issue is with being charged for repairs that didn't occur and then not being able to get the funds back in a timely manner, but they claim they don't know how to refund them and need to wait 2-3 days to speak to someone else. I took my car to have my brake pads and rotors replaced and then at their recommendation, to replace a water pump because I heard a knocking noise. I authorize all repairs on Wednesday. After waiting several hours at the shop I was then informed it would not be completed today and I needed to leave my car. I go back to pick up my car the next day after work, and they were closed. I call the next morning and was assured the car is ready for pick up. I go to pick up car that afternoon, pay and drive home. Upon driving home, I realize that the car seems to have the same sound as before I took it in. I immediately called the shop back (spoke to the owner Haider) and was instructed to bring it back on Monday. I return to the shop on Monday morning, shop is supposed to open at 8:00am, someone arrives around 8:15am, I speak to this man and he says "I was the one who worked on your car" I say great! He then proceeds to tell me that he only replaced brake pads and a belt. I was surprised to find out that I was charged for several services that were not rendered. We then have to wait on someone else to arrive, he explains the situation then tells me to explains the situation again. Then he says he has to talk to someone else to see how to get my money back because there was no cash on site. I say just put it back on my card. He then proceeds to tell me he doesn't know how and that someone else has to charge me for the belt that was put on, even thou I was already charged for a belt. He ended up putting on the rotors before I left and still no money. I never needed a water pump to begin with but was charged for it. The mechanic says I only needed some motor oil. Still no refund, very disappointed. read more

Their front desk receptionist (who looks like the last receptionist you'd ever want to interact with) named Jimmy, is really unprofessional and quite frankly dumb as dirt. He has barely any customer service skills and told me my oil change would just be 30 minutes when it ended up taking over an hour and a half. Then they told me at the end they couldn't provide a receipt or any report. This is problematic if you're trying to sell your car and need to provide proof of regular maintenance and oil change. read more

Initially I took my car in to get the exhaust looked at after the dealer quoted me over $1500, Arlington autorepair was able to do the same work for under $1000. They open at 8:00. We arrived 5 min till for smog test. Were told the person who can do that arrives at 8:15. At 9:00 we asked for update & were told the person is not coming in until 11:00. We left. Arlington Auto repair is a pathetic, utterly unprofessional service. I took my vehicle to here to replace the fuel pump. Arlington Auto Repair installed the new fuel pump BACKWARDS. I only know this because the fuel gauge on the dashboard appeared to operate in reverse! Yes, it's hard for me to believe, but when I drove the truck, the fuel gauge indicated the fuel level was increasing. I don't know how these amateurs managed to do it, but they inadvertently solved the energy crisis. I took the truck back in and had to wait an entire week for them to re-replace the fuel pump assembly (for the second time). After getting home I also noticed a new dent in the driver-side door - no doubt put there by the sloppy, careless, and amateurish mechanic. Needless to say, I will never go back to Arlington Auto Repair, and I DO NOT recommend this auto repair shop for any type of service since they clearly do not know what they are doing. Hands down the worst experience I've had with a garage. I would have paid NOT to have my car repaired here. I needed a water pump replaced on a Jeep Wrangler, which should have been a 260 dollar job. Troy quoted 480, then said he can "help me out" and do it for "around 300." He then proceeded to try to charge 400 and pitch additional services. While they worked in my over priced water pump, they broke a hose and weren't able to get a replacement until the next morning. Finally, after taking the morning off of work, they tried to charge me for the hose that THEY BROKE! On top of this, i was told the job would take an hour. Besides the service issues, the shop is run down and the employees openly argued with each other about not wanting to perform the work. I would give this place negative reviews if I could. Good luck to anyone brave or foolish enough to try to work with this business. read more

This place is awesome! My tire was flat and I have "run flat" tires. I was stressed out because I didn't know if I would have to tow my car to the dealer or what. So I went on Yelp and saw this place had great reviews and I called to see if they could help me out The gentleman who answered was very pleasant and offered to take a look. He told me to drive slowly and put my hazards on as he wasn't sure how "run flats" work. Once I got there safely, he remembered me and quickly came out to assist. The mechanic on duty came out as well and said they would look to see what was going on. After about a 15 min wait, the mechanic came back and said I had a nail and the tire could be patched. He recommended the patch and to rotate the tire to the back for safety. First time I ever heard that but such a great idea since the front tires play a crucial part in steering. I waited another 15 mins and was bracing for the cost. Couldn't believe when they told me only $25 because I thought for sure it was going to be a minimum of $50. Needless to say, I highly recommend this place especially if you live in Shirlington. I will definitely go back for my yearly inspections. read more

It was my big mistake going there. They are very dishonest and delusional. When they checked my car he said it needs a parts that need to be ordered. so he ordered it and took $90 from me in advance. after waiting more than week parts arrived. so i dropped of my car in the very early morning. at 1pm i made call if car ready for pick up , he says two more hour. then after 3 more hour i went there and being informed by someone else that they didn't fix it. they even didn't put the parts in. they tried to fix it without replacing the new parts so that they can keep $800 bucks for themselves. so i got very disappointed b/c my two whole day being wasted and their big guy jimmy stolen $90 bucks from me without doing any work for the parts which i paid in advance. Holding your vehicle lo e for extended time frames, 1 day turned into 4 and maybe longer if I wouldn't have kept contacting them asking for answers. 3 days in the uh sti had not looked at my vehicle yet! The worst part of all is that they claimed to have changed my fuel pump and filter but it went out 8 months later.
