Hey, moms, dads, take your kid fishing in the middle of freaking surburban Arlington. Seriously. This is what you do... Go to Arlington Bait and Tackle -- it's a little storefront on Mass Ave in East Arlington, next to a pizza place (wonder where they get their anchovies? Just kidding.) Don't be put off by the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. Ask them for a kid's combo. They'll sell you a nice rod and reel, some hooks, leaders, sinkers, and bobbers, all for under $40. They set up everything for you right there, while you wait. Tell them you want to fish Menotomy Pond. Ask for a dozen shiners, which are little minnows who shall lay down their lives in the service of feeding larger fish and entertaining you and yours. BYOB (bring your own bucket, unless you want to buy a spiffy bucket of your own to hold the bait). Then get yourself up to the pond at Menotomy rocks and catch little bass and sunfish, photograph yourself holding them with true champion angler swagger, and toss them back. It's an awesome way to introduce your kid (or yourself) to fishing. Our first day our, we caught 4 bass in 30 minutes, or maybe the same bass four times. You don't need a license to teach a kid to fish, but be prepared to buy a $22 license for yourself if you're "hooked" after the first time, like I was!

I bought a Specialized Turbo Creo SL Expert EVO bike (it's an e-bike) from Belmont Wheelworks (BW)…read moreat the end of February. I had trouble locating this bike at any bike shops in Massachusetts but BW had three of them in stock (M, L, and XL) so I was psyched to check the bike out in person. I bought the bike (well over $10K with tax) when I went to their Trapelo Road location to look the bike over and bought several biking-related items (Garmin bike computer, headlight, shoes, tool bag, bike fitting, seat, etc.). The bike purchasing experience was great. I worked with Scott, who was very friendly and patient and knew tons about the model I was purchasing as well as about e-bikes. I spent $100 for a fitting appointment and Jack handled that and ensured I got fitted to the new bike with the new shoes I had purchased. I had an issue with the bike I purchased being put on sale by Specialized for $750 less - I called BW to ask if they would refund me the difference (this was 2-3 weeks after I purchased the bike) and the person I spoke with was aghast that anyone would ask for a refund like this. Less than a week later Clint from Belmont Wheelworks left me vmail apologizing for the confusion about getting the $750 sale price difference refunded and stated that he would be issuing a credit to my credit card for the $750 plus tax. I was very happy to hear this! I was so thrilled that I returned to BW to purchase tire repair tools + sealant for the tires on my new Creo (and spent another $87). Clint was not available during my last visit so I was unable to thank him in person but hopefully he sees this and knows that I greatly appreciate him working with me on this issue. I also want to mention that there is a H-U-G-E selection of bikes at BW - the biggest I've seen since International Bike had a store in Allston in the nineties so if you are looking for a new bike, I would recommend you stopping at BW. I love the Specialized brand and to me they have the best and biggest selection of Specialized bikes I have ever seen. I went to Landry Bikes in Braintree before I purchased my Turbo Creo from BW and they worked very hard to sell me a Trek bike at a similar price point but my research and personal experience showed that the Specialized is a MUCH better bike. BW also has an excellent selection of shoes, seats, helmets, tubes, tires, repair kits, headlights, Garmin computers and tons of other gear for bikers of all descriptions. Some of the clothes I saw were very expensive ($200 for a pair of biking shorts???) but the selection is quite large and I would venture to guess that you can find anything you need for your biking workouts/excursions/commutes/whatever during one visit to BW. I will be taking my bike there as soon as I get ~150 miles on it for a free tune-up and I am looking forward to seeing how their service department is (I am sure they are top notch).

From the easy to use website with up to date information, to the person answering the phones who knew exactly what was in stock and had the bike I was interested in locked up outside ready for me to ride, it was an absolute pleasure to buy a new bike with zero snags. The selection in this store is much bigger than it might first appear- they're known for cargo bikes and an increasingly large supply of electric cargos, but they have kid's balance bikes and the lovely step through commuter bike in the pic, too. Their website is very easy to search for what you want in advance. You can also get all the things you need to put your new bike in use from racks, bags, baskets, bells, gear, and safety supplies. It was fast and easy to select high quality items and they attached it all so my bike was done and ready to take home that day. Another huge advantage over the first time I bought a perfect bike- bike lanes! You can try your new bike in a safe bike lane before cutting back to the store on a side street then a less well traveled road. Gives you a little descent, little bumpiness, and a little ascent so you can get a real feel for the bike. I love that there's no pressure, just a plan to help you find what works best for you. So happy with my purchase!

Don't understand the negative views regarding waiting for service, but with the comments concerning political views I'm assuming it's a review posted out of spite. Do not enter until we tell you," or something to that effect. We obeyed, standing there like travelers denied entry at the gates of some peculiar limbo. We waited. She typed. We waited more. She typed still. Silence stretched long enough for us to wonder if this was a store or some social experiment in neglect. No acknowledgment. No welcome. Just silence, save for the quiet hum of our growing discomfort. Then, amidst the dim glow of cheap fluorescents, we saw it: a shoddily printed manifesto of political grievances, plastered like a relic from the darker corners of the internet. A tirade of slogans, grievances, and conspiracies best left to social media echo chambers, somehow now a fixture cheaply typed in poor grammar on a blank Microsoft Word document. "Democrats hate America, Trump is our savior!" On and on, a stew of QAnon lunacy that had no place anywhere, let alone a darts shop. Poorly written, barely coherent, and more desperate than persuasive. In that moment, the choice became clear. We left. Not just because of the lack of service, but because no business that alienates half the country with tinfoil-hat propaganda deserves our time or money. If you're looking for darts, try anywhere else. If you're looking for a glimpse into paranoia and poor customer service, you've found your spot. This store may sell darts, but its sharpest points are reserved for imaginary enemies.

I was told to come back tomorrow. I tried calling the next day, but nobody answered the phone so I showed up they didn't remember me. I told him I had purchased a scooter yesterday with my coworker, and then they went to look for it and they said it still wasn't ready and they needed to charge it . I came back the following day called again. No answer showed up didn't know who I was again reminded him an went to get my scooter ready for me to take one problem, though there was no charger with the brand new scooter. He could not find it. So he gave me a charger from behind the counter fast forward to today, May 5, 2026. I tried calling again no answer so I drove in. Doors were locked. Lights are on went to the front and back entrance. No sign of anyone one last check I see the guy who sold me the scooter in the window. I motion to him to come over. He comes over. he lets me in. I tell him about my scooter, he tells me to bring it in. I told him the back brake is no longer working, and my rear tire was making a grinding noise. He told me I could leave it to fill out my information before leaving. I asked him when he thought somebody would be able to take a look at it and he told me about a month. He stated the technician wasn't in today and that they had a backlog of scooters that needed to be repaired, which he pointed to in the corner and then told me there was multiple down in the basement of the same model. I told him that wasn't an option for me to wait over a month and that the scooter is still under warranty for another five months he tried to refer me to a scooter shop in Cambridge, which I live nowhere near and not paying for something that was under warranty. I then asked him what to do and he told me to call Segway the scooter company. And then again referred me to the scooter shop in Cambridge, which I had to reiterate that was not an option and I am not paying for something that is still under warranty. I asked him for Segway's number which he told me he did not have and to "Google it". My only dealings with this place twice have not been good and not the best customer service to say the least. Scooters were $1100 with tax and are under warranty for another five months and they are telling me I have to wait over a month to even get it looked at. Unacceptable!
