Came here last weekend and it was a great park to visit. We brought the dog and although it is small, there are lots of little nooks and crannies to visit. Lots of native plants, a mediterranean garden, etc. There are way more benches and chairs and tables that you usually find in a public garden, so it felt very cozy. There is also a stone labyrinth that you'll see in my photo. Plenty of street parking, it is a quiet neighborhood. read more

It is so pretty. I enjoyed the gardens with my family. It is well maintained and very peaceful. The trees offer lots of shade. There are flowers everywhere and lots of volunteer gardeners. There's also a pretty wishing tree here that people put their notes on. Some ask to heal, others confessed their love, and many just ask for their dreams to come true. I would highly recommend to come here to enjoy the nature and to get away from the busy city every once in awhile. read more

I read somewhere that being out in nature at least 10 minutes a day has a profound impact on one's mental health. It works. It really does. This is a cute little garden alongside Pasadena Avenue. If you're heading north to make your way to the 210 or 134, stop here for a moment of zen. It's free. It's tranquil. It's small so there's no big commitment. And as an added incentive? The organization that takes care of the garden sells marmalade made from the oranges that grow here. They sell the marmalade on Tuesdays from 9 AM to 12 pm. Just wander around, find one of the volunteers working about, and let them know you wanna purchase some marmalade. You will be lead to a back shed where you can purchase a jar or more for 10 dollars each. Cash only I believe. Paired with a crusty slice of good sourdough bread, the jam is yummy! I love finding hidden local treasures like this. The Arlington Garden also boasts a labyrinth, wishing trees, and plenty of benches scattered about where you can take a seat and contemplate the meaning of life. There's a nice variety of cacti, flowers, shrubs, and plants. You can meander along the many pathways and continue to contemplate the meaning of life along with the mysteries of the universe. Or you can just stop and giggle at the squirrels chasing each other or at the butterflies doing their thing. It's a little oasis in an unlikely location with a unique offering. Orange marmalade...yeah!!! Tip: if you wish to hang your wish on the wishing tree, bring your own paper, pen, and string/thread to hang. Tucked in randomly as part of a neighborhood, this cute garden is a great place to take a quick stop, hang out with some friends and coffee, or even on your own. Free parking on the street is a plus. There are plenty of little tables and chairs sprinkled throughout the garden. The garden itself isn't too big and you can quickly walk through depending on how interested you are in all the plants and trees. My favorite was the wishing tree where people hung wishes on papers onto the tree. It showed a glimpse of hopes and dreams we all long for. Being that we came during the winter time, not a lot was in bloom, but nevertheless, it was still a great experience. I've heard about Arlington Garden in Pasadena and decided to check it out. It's kinda hidden as I didn't see any signs for it but was able to find it right away. It is located on Arlington Dr and Pasadena Ave, one block south of Huntington Hospital. It is a 2.5 acre non-profit garden. There is no entrance fee. The garden has a map at entrance but it's pretty easy to navigate around the park. It is small comparing to Huntington or Descanso Gardens. What I really liked about it is that they have plenty of tables and benches around the park so it would be really nice to come here to read a book or drink a coffee. There is a wish tree. You can leave a note with your wish on a few trees in the middle of garden. There was paper and pencil but you'd need a string. Overall, it is a cute little park/garden. I'll come back in the spring to see all the blooms. read more

If you want a piece of Huntington Gardens without paying or spending a whole day there, then Arlington Garden is a fantastic alternative. Even then, it's just an overall great spot to spend even an hour at. It's not a particularly large garden but it's free and street parking is plentiful. Enjoy succulents, plants, a little rock labyrinth, and what not. For professional photography/videography type of events, a permit is required so don't go throwing a tantrum cause you didn't follow their guidelines. I managed to find this place because I was looking for a somewhere to enjoy the lovely Pasadena weather with my dog that wasn't a dog park. I found Arlington Garden and saw it was a quick two-minute drive so I drove over there. When I hear community garden I think a green space for locals to plant fruits and veggies. Arlington doesn't have that, it's more of a pocket arboretum and while it doesn't take too long to walk around there are sections of it where you feel transported. Don't go out of your way to come here but if you're nearby it's worth a brief detour. read more

This is my most favorite hidden gem in Pasadena! I moved to Pasadena 2 years ago and found this garden while venturing my neighborhood, the best discovery ever. It's soo peaceful and quaint. They have benches where you can just relax, hang out and even have lunch. I also love that it's not typically super busy but I will say, it is getting more popular on the weekends. A beautiful garden in the middle of the city surrounded by a residential area but you don't even realize you're still in the city! Wow! It was so peaceful and creatively set up so you can walk the gardens or sit and enjoy the space. We were able to find a shaded spot to sit and enjoy nature and talk without feeling that there were other people around. With COVID still around was trying to find a spot outdoors to walk and explore. Saw somewhere about this free 3 acre park. 3 acres ended up being smaller than I thought but for being free they offer lots of unique things you may find at a paid garden like Huntington Library, such as a succulent fountain, a mini orange orchard, a glass fountain, and a labyrinth. I walked through and finished fairly quickly but it was a nice change of scenery and I thought it was quite cute. There were lots of people out having picnics tho so if you're looking for some quiet and being alone this may not he the spot for you at least right now. Arlington Garden is really cute, and free to boot! There's plenty of street parking and you can just walk over. The garden itself is pretty small but it's nice to have a stroll or to sit and hang out for a bit. The whole garden is pretty drought friendly, so don't expect patches of grass (at least, I didn't see any). There were plenty of benches and areas to sit though, so you can make do. Definitely pick up some of the orange marmalade that they sell from the oranges that grow on site - I want to say it's $10 a jar and it benefits the garden. I did notice a ton of families/photographers taking pictures everywhere, so it was kind of fun to people watch - I guess this makes an excellent family photo spot! But I think photographers might need a permit. One last thing to note - we did notice a guy walking around with a poncho (and nothing else), so as cute and family friendly this area is, always be on the lookout for your own safety! read more

Nice little escape from life. Truly a hidden gem I never knew existed! It's beautiful. A lot of things were dead but it could've just been the time of year. Like it definitely looked like things weren't as cared for as they might be in a non Covid world. I was still able to take a nice walk, enjoy some beautiful scenery, and relax. You must check it out. It is a 3-acre botanical garden, located in Pasadena, the only dedicated free public garden in the area, which was designed and started to built in 2005, Now the space is teeming with plant life instead housed storage crates for highway construction back to old days. This mini botanic garden has a decent sized collection of citrus grove, stone paved labyrinth, and many desert plants. Now it's overgrown with weed, and it should look more beautiful during the flowers blooming time. read more

This place is a little hidden gem. I didn't even know it was there even know I've been going to places nearby for a long time. It is a very peaceful place. It's a small but nice walk that takes you through nature allowing you to see various plants and flowers. You can sit and meditate or read or just take a stroll through the park. There's plenty of seating here and tables to read a book, do art, journal, catch up w a friend, what have you~ It's actually bigger than I thought (not ginormous but still big!) and such a nice breath of air from the city and hustle+bustle of life. A hidden gem in Pasadena. According to the website, it is leased to the City of Pasadena. The garden is open to people and pets. There is no fee to enter which is surprising. It is three acres and opens seven days a week during the day. ::Garden:: The Arlington Garden is beautiful and romantic. There are tables, benches, chairs, and umbrellas. I enjoyed walking around, it was peaceful and relaxing. You will see birds, squirrels, bees, butterflies, and lizards. There are a variety of pretty and colorful flowers. You will see garden arches surrounded by flowers. There are trees, cactus, and a circular art maze made of stones. I will definitely be here again!! ::Highlight:: The wish tree was very touching. People would write their wish and attach it on the tree branches. This garden is the perfect compact outdoor park. It's eclectic and an awesome place to have a picnic, drink your coffee, read a book, admítete the foliage... Came here and had some dessert on one of the many tables. Felt very much like being in a cute little bistro. We also put a wish on to the trees with paper from our desserts. The only downside is this place was pretty popular so you don't have much privacy and don't expect silence. But it's free and clean and a great way to enjoy the outdoors! read more

There's not too many places in Pasadena that are FREE and also have FREE parking! Do not expect lush flower fields or manicured topiary. This is more of a rustic garden full of drought tolerant plants and trees. I absolutely loved it as it was quite the little adventure for my 3 and 5 years olds. You can easily complete the garden in less than an hour. There are some cute features like the large wooden chairs, wishing trees, and a small labyrinth. Overall, an unexpected experience in the middle of a bustling city. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area, but not something I would plan an all day or half day trip on. read more

We were thrilled to find the Arlington Garden in Pasadena remained open even during the pandemic. This 3-acre park is also completely free. We had a great time getting lost on its twisting paths and seeing such California native plants like poppies, sunflowers, cactus as well as orange and olive trees. Along the way, you'll find benches, birdbaths and tables where you can relax and read a book. You'll also want to check out the art installation by Yoko Ono called Wish Tree for Pasadena. Basically, visitors can make a wish, write it down on a piece of paper than tie it to the branch of the wish tree (and I guess Yoko calls it art!). I actually thought it was just people leaving sweet messages behind. Though, our absolute favorite part of the gardens was following the classic labyrinth, built by students from a nearby high school. It takes about five minutes of slow walking to do the entire thing. Or you can be like the couple in front of us who just hopped over most of it, and completed it in about 45 seconds. Apparently, there are shortcuts in life! In total, we spent an hour wandering around and just enjoyed the freedom of getting out and exploring something new. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and there were a few people but mostly pretty empty. read more

From the street, you would never guess an enchanted garden lies beyond Arlington's humble exterior. It is quite larger than you would anticipate and around every corner there is something new to see or interact with. This is the PERFECT spot for a casual picnic or date. There is plenty of shaded seating with tables or individual benches along the premises. I have gone during the afternoons on weekends and it has never been too crowded. We always find a table to sit, read, or eat at! Arlington's staff is also super sweet and care a lot about keeping the park clean. You can definitely tell! read more

What a darling little garden! I visited this adorable garden during my most recent trip to Pasadena. I made it there right before sunset and it was really peaceful around this time. Not many people out and tons of pretty plants were in bloom. This is an excellent local spot to conduct a photo shoot! There are tons of benches and plenty of beautiful trees that would pose as the perfect backdrop. There's a short walking path outlined by rocks that will take you throughout the garden. I was able to spot some really pretty flowers, but not too many since I came at the beginning of January. If you're a plant lover, you'll really enjoy the array of succulents and baby cactus. The variety of different plants and flowers is pretty versatile for a garden this small. I super enjoyed viewing the labyrinth! I've always wondered how long it would take to actually construct one of these. Whoever created this labyrinth definitely has a lot of skill and patience. Kudos to you... whoever you are! I was most pleased with the beautiful orange trees! There were tons of oranges on that tree in the middle of January! There's a note that asks patrons to limit themselves to just one orange (you're allowed to the pick them). I abided, of course. The orange tasted delicious! The best type of oranges that you can receive are the ones that you can grab straight off of a tree. This would definitely be a regular go-to spot for me if I lived in the area. It's a great little park with a gorgeous scenery and very peaceful vibes. I'm glad I was able to visit this little gem. read more

Lovely place. Totally FREE. *CLOSED TUESDAYS!* It's not large but certainly not tiny. Some of the plants were labeled but not all. If you're looking for a big garden with diverse species, you've got ample paid options in the LA area. This garden is best for wandering around and finding a little nook to sit and read or just contemplate. I saw multiple benches and tables throughout. Also, found a few charming spots like a wishing tree (bring paper if you want to leave a wish) and a labyrinth. RE: BATHROOMS. I saw a portable toilet by the shed but I didn't actually use it so I'm not sure if it's locked and only there for the maintenance workers. I'd recommend laying off the liquids when you come here, just in case. RE: PARKING. Had no issue finding free parking on the street. read more

Arlington Garden is a beautiful garden but an easy miss. Located on a corner of Arlington Drive & South Pasadena Avenue. Free Street parking available. My husband, our 2 dogs and myself came by this garden a few Saturdays ago to take our family photo (yes this garden is dog friendly and free admission). Every year we have an annual family greeting card to distribute around the winter holiday and I thought this garden would be the perfect background. Although the Saturday we happened to come, it was raining, we still had some great places to take our family photos (amateur photos are allowed in the garden but professionals are required to pay a small fee and obtain a photo permit). This garden is very lush and green (flowers, cactus, succulents, bushes, trees, etc). There are also plenty of chairs and a handful of tables around the 3 acre garden in case you want to have a picnic while you visit. Parts of the garden does have shaded places too. This garden is very peaceful and truly is perfect for your next photo shoot and even would be a great place for a small outdoor wedding (if that is something available for the future engaged couples). read more

Quite, peaceful, serene, a small but wonderful place to take a deep breath enjoy the scenery and greenery. My daughter and I didn't even need to re-park our car after leaving the Storrier Japanese Gardens across the street, we simply crossed the street and we were there. While small, there are wonderful little pockets within the garden that present as completely different experience. There are places, not many, to sit and take it in or simply stroll around and through the property. Local neighbors are fortunate to have such a wonderful spot to grab a tiny escape even for just 15 to 20 minutes. As we are currently in the midst of social distancing in light of the Covid-19 situation I am not sure you they are currently allowing people to visit the park. As there are no gates or fences I am not sure there is someone there to shoo people away just make sure you are practicing safe distancing protocol. read more
