We have been to this vet for over 12 years. However, Friday was the last day. The vet and vet tech were physically abusive to my cat. The "vet" decided to place her Halloween costume over my cat's face while the tech decided to grab him by the neck and dangle him over the exam table. My 17 year-old indoor cat was showing signs of difficulty with many unfavorable trends. I brought him to Dr. Whitney Ralph at the Arlington Pet Hospital. She sees all of our dogs but this was the first time for our Cat. She did required testing to try and establish what Pinot's problems were. Unfortunately his blood work came back and indicated extremely high glucose. We reviewed options and decided to have him put to sleep. She was amazing in handling our issue. Recently tried to be seen for heart worm test and potential exam. They close at 6 pm and it was 5 pm at the time I was there. I was informed by the vet assistant there were only two doctors available that were "closing up on their last two appointments and did not have time to squeeze in another one". On one hand, I understand not wanting to work over time but an exam would not have taken too much of their time and the test (per receptionist would have only taken 15 minutes to run). I would understand more if they couldn't see my dog if I would have been there 30 minutes til closing but they had a whole hour and completely turned us away like we didn't even matter. I've had issues with the receptionists being rude and giving me the wrong medication in the past and needing to drive all the way back to get the correct one but this was the icing on the cake. Dr. Hezel has been wonderful and treated my dog like her own and I'm sad that this experience has occurred but I will not be making the mistake by coming back. read more

I have been coming to the Arlington Pet Hospital since we moved here from Los Gatos. The new building was completed in December '12 right after my house was flooded. Since I could not have my cat at the hotel she was moved to the new building just a few feet from the former strip center location on 70. She usually sees Dr. Laros who is very sweet and professional. My cat Elle has built up a fan base here because she is very affectionate with a loud purr and is boarded when we both go out of town. They take exceptional care of pets, have really nice boarding condos and reminders for next visits even phone calls! The staff is very friendly too. I'm not sure they know my name but my cat...loves it here. The building reminds me of Texas with prairie architecture. read more

I recently brought my 11 yo cat in for a new patient appointment. He had a wellness exam, blood work, and was examined and treated for some growths. The veterinarian (Dr. Ralph) was wonderful, as was the vet tech who trimmed his nails and took his medical information and trimmed his nails (she said he was so good!). The front office staff was friendly, welcoming, and checked us in in no time. I don't understand the prior negative reviews of front staff unless those folks were just in a grumpy mood that day. Considering Changing Vets I am a long time supporter of Arlington Pet hospital, Recently I have become disenchanted with the front desk staff. They are not friendly, inexperienced, not professional and quite honestly don't know what they are doing. I had an incident a few weeks ago and asked to speak to the manager. I left two messages, he never called back. I have gotten to the point that I have lost trust in this facility. Medical services provided have been fine however I don't like my dog being taken to another room to be treated and then returned to me to discuss findings and or treatment. My oldest dog, 14 years old, was dropped off this morning just before 8AM to get a medicated bath, By 3:30 PM I had not heard from the clinic, I drove up there seven hours later to ask if she was ready, they brought her out, still wet and had to go find her leash. Someone here is not paying attention to what is going on in the clinic and obviously don't care. Looking for another vet today. read more

On multiple occasions we have had terrible experiences with this establishment. Previously, we had brought my cat in to get her nails trimmed. The first few times the extremely rude front desk staff made a huge deal about how the cat wasn't in their system after I has already explained that she WAS NOT a patient and had only ever gotten her nails trimmed. She continued to tell me I didn't inform her that, which was incorrect because I always remember to inform them this upon arrival because it is always a problem with them. We were not planning on returning after this had happen for the third time but we had an emergency this evening. My dog got attacked around 4:15 and they were the closest animal hospital so we assumed we would go there. We got there around 4:30 and saw they closed at 5 but were extremely worried about our dog and hoped they could see him or at least point us in the right direction. Of course we were wrong. We were greated by a woman with an attitude and again we explained how he was not in the system either. She proceeded to tell us it would be about a 245 dollar vet bill for a new patient. We were relieved he could be seen and willing to pay the bill. My grandmother told me to go grab my dog and apparently we were wrong because she stopped us saying that, yes we could be seen but only for 28 minutes and that they couldn't even treat him. Which is ridiculous, we would be paying 245 dollars for less than half an hour with the doctor and no treatment. They do not care about their job and do not have the heart to be working in this field. A referral to an after hour vet, who would actually be able to help us with a compassionate heart would have been very appreciated in this moment. Instead they wanted the money and were not concerned in the slightest about our dogs well being. Not willing to stay perhaps 20 to 30 minutes longer in an emergency. Thankfully we made it to the Pet Hospital on Trinty in Cordova and they were amazing! Again, I understand this is not a 24 hour hospital but some compassion, understanding, and a point in the right direction would have been greatly appreciated as we were very concerned about our baby. read more

DO NOT GO HERE TO GET YOUR PET GROOMED IF YOUR PET HAS NOT HAD A FLU SHOT!!!!! It's the summer and it's the clinic policy for dogs to have a flu shot regardless of the season. We had 2 dogs groomed and they had to have their flu shots. The total bill was $199. We were going to be potential customers, but they will not have any more of our business. It makes no sense whatsoever when in humans it has been proven that if a human has received he flu shot too early, it isn't effective. Why in the hell give shots during the summer? Take your money elsewhere! ***Update: the vet was polite and better explained about the "flu shot". While we still won't be going to this place because it was an outrageous bill, it was polite and nice that they addressed the concern. read more

I have been a customer of Arlington Pet Hospital/East Memphis Pet Hospital for around 13 years and I have always depended on them to take care of my dog (s). I love that the clinics are interlinked- if I cannot make it to one location, I can visit the other! All of the veterinarians are knowledgeable, compassionate, and professional. I especially like that all of the vets work/consult together, and do not mind stepping in if another doctor is not available when there is a medical need. They are so patient with me by providing answers to my questions in a way that I can understand. On the rare occasion that I have had to take my pet in for an emergency, there was never any doubt that they are there for me. The facility is clean and well maintained. I like that I can schedule to take my sweet boy Schnauzer to get a bath every other week by one of the techs. The groomers are exceptional and pay attention to the details that I want or may request and they do a remarkable job. I cannot imagine going anywhere else for my pet's medical and grooming needs. Has animals in cages in the BATHROOM and put food in the same room as animals they are operating on. There is always animal feces on the sidewalks that you can tell has been sitting there for days. Always smells bad when you walk in, and the ladies at the front desk are never friendly. Don't waste your time or money. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Absolutely horrible experience. Took new rescue kitten in for care. Had to ask myself about deworming and fleas/tick removal only then did the vet seem to recall. He attempted to give my kitten a oral dewormer, but he refused and the vet seemed to give up on administration. This didn't seem like a big deal i figured the vet knew best and I was only slightly annoyed as my bill surmounted 191$ for everything with little explanation or advice on how to care for my new kitten. Now a week later my kitten has been suffered from diarrhea for two days. I found worms in his stool last night. When i called at nearly 9 AM this morning I was told the vet would call me back no later than noon. Noon came and I called back to be told yet again that he would call me back after he saw the patient he was with. it has been another hour and a half. My poor kitten is still suffering from diarrhea and i am worried about dehydration and what appears to be a massive worm infestation. Still waiting to hear back and i'll probably be reaching out to a new veterinary clinic within the hour. UPDATE: Still have received no call back for followup. found a new and MUCH better vet willing to explain this to new pet owners at Walnut Grove Animal Clinic. read more
