I am a suburbia girl so shopping for Desi clothes in NYC is a bit stressful for me. I went to a couple shops to find bridal attire for my wedding reception. The owner and assistants here at Armaans are not pushy and were helpful in letting me try on the different styles. I ended up ordering a lengha that was made to my petite size. I'm posting this review after a very difficult situation my friend had with this shop. We are in the middle of preparing for her wedding and it's already a very tense situation and he made it even more difficult for all of us. When she tried on the dress the gems were spilling everywhere. In fact every time she tried it on dozens of gems would fall so much so that we needed to keep a bag because of how poorly they were put on the dress. How can she wear this when it's falling apart already???? When she reached out about this, he told her that they cannot refund or exchange. She asked if it could be fixed and he immediately blocked her. Her mom called and he blocked her number as well. He is blocking numbers and comments to avoid any accountability. The 5-star team at Armaan's saved my wedding outfit. I had ordered a designer lehenga from India that arrived very poorly fitted and different than specs. Among other changes they had to cut sleeves and re-make the borders and I was very nervous about it. It came out exactly as I wanted. The suggestions from everybody (Armaan, 2 taylors and store assistants) helped. The icing on the cake is that they fixed the border of my dupatta, making it look amazing! I was treated with a lot of care and attention, and it's more impressive given that the product they were fixing was not even from their store. This is an additional review written after my initial experience at Armaans bridal. The original can be found below the update. UPDATE: My wedding is now just 10 days away. This weekend I finished all final alterations on my wedding lehenga, as well as my fiance's suit. Mostly everything we purchased for our wedding was purchased at Armaans bridal. Two suits, men's shoes, jewelry, a sword, and a slip. The staff at Armaans is phenomenal. I had issues finding an appropriately sized slip. Luckily, Sonu was able to custom order one for me and let me know as soon as it arrived to be picked up. The customer service in this place is incredible. There are always bumpy roads when planning a wedding. Any time we hit a rough spot, the staff was there to help find a solution. In all of my experience buying different items from different shops in the area, this was by far the best shop we dealt with. Armaans will always be my #1 recommendation for bridal outfits and accessories. Just custom ordered a wedding lehenga from here. The prices were reasonable, the service was amazing, and the staff was truly honest and forth coming with their opinion! Angad was my consultant and he was the sweetest salesman ever. He stayed within my price range, he would let me know if he showed me something of a slightly higher price, and as we narrowed down options he made sure to keep my favorites easily accessible for quick comparison. The girl wouldn't let me touch any of the bridal lengha's and when I tried one one but didn't like the fitting, she had the nerve to tell me thats the way its supposed to look and that if she were to wear it, it would look great on her! If you want to dig through old school lenghas and saris in garish colors, go to any of the other stores on the street. But if you want classy, go to Armaan's. I completely agree with all the negative reviews here. The owner is a total jerk with no sense of customer service or politeness. While the clothes are average designs from India, the fit is appalling. The tailor they recommend is an old one-man show who speaks barely any English: go to Jackson Tailors instead. If it weren't for the lack of choice in this depressing suburb, I would never go here. The worst part: the overpriced designs would cost a tenth of the price in India, and a better fit and tailoring would be INCLUDED in the ridiculous price. We came in here to get an idea of sherwanis for my fiance and my jaw dropped looking at the prices. We ended up buying a sherwani in India that had about 4x the amount of work on it and was 1/3 of the price of the sherwani at Armaan's. It was literally cheaper to buy my mom a ticket to India and buy a better sherwani there than to buy one here. I bought my wedding dress from Rahul on 8/15/21 and he had a no try on policy in store. I get home and try on my dress, the gems started to fall off in my room just from moving the dress around. Ive tried it on a few more times and I collect dozens of gems from my room each wear. A dress worth $2100 should not be having gems fall off in these insane amounts. I called him asking what he can do for me, he said all he can do is glue it back on. What will gluing do? Itll fall off again. I asked for an exchange, not a refund, to get the quality of product I paid for, but he ended up blocking me and my mother so we can't talk to him. How would he be able go help us with the gluing if he ignores us? Hes a scam artist, extremely greedy and has a very rude demeanor every time you go into the store. I was excited about going to this place to look for my wedding dress and reception dress after seeing their website and seeing the reviews on Yelp. I was supremely disappointed in this place. This happened to be the first place we walked into on our day long shopping trip in Jackson Heights and upon walking into this store, we noticed that no one else was there, except one woman who happened to be sweeping up the joint and a random dude at the back of the store who was on the phone. So we walked in and the lady asked what we were looking for, so we told her we were looking for bridal dresses, to which she directed us to the back of the store. So we walked to the back and started looking at the dresses. And looked. And looked. The guy still remains on the phone, without even glimpsing up to see if we needed anything. The other lady had gone back to her sweeping. So we waited to see if either one of them would look up to see if we needed any help. Finally the guy gets off the phone, asks (very rudely) what our price range was for the dresses and then told us that basically what we saw was what they had and that if we wanted to see anything else, to make an appointment. I was pretty ticked off at this point, so we just left the joint. I don't understand how when there's no other customers in the store, they can't show us any dresses. Yes they have pretty, sparkly dresses. Yes they have modern styled outfits that I was searching for. And oh yes did I dream of myself wearing some of outfits in the window as I passed by. However after going in 3 times (yes, I did give them chances) I refuse to go in there. After seeing an amazing Diwali (holiday) "sale" I went in excited to see everything "50%" off... or so they claimed. The final sale price was just really the regular price... which had been jacked up and then put on sale. So basically no sale. There were a ton of other girls in there (like myself) excited and looking through dresses until they realized what I did. I heard one girl exclaim, "Hey this salwar kameez is not worth $500!" Exactly, because the sale price would have reduced it to $250, which is what they were already selling it for. But with all the commotion, I decided to speak to the salesgirls and see if I could find a particular type of salwar kameez, but I got no attention from them. I returned the following week, since I really needed a dress for an occasion. I had ordered from an on line store from India, but wasn't sure it would reach in time. The sales girl I questioned couldn't speak English and couldn't understand me. She told me that the owner would be back soon after calling him. I got tired of waiting for him after 20 minutes. Frustrated, I returned a third time and was really getting anxious. The date was getting closer and I needed an outfit. Thankfully, the owner was in and there were English speaking girls on hand. The girls showed me dresses that I had seen on line for less than half the price (and I mean same outfit, same color, same everything, including shipping to your door it would've been less than half what they were charging). So I definitely wasn't going to go with those. They said there were more selection in the back. Then I saw a guy on the phone in the back.. this "Rahul" character. Before the salesgirl could tell him my situation, I couldn't believe my ears. He was speaking to a female customer and was so rude that I was shocked. He was yelling at her, all the while still on the phone, telling her they don't have anything to fit her size. Nothing here will fit you, and to try somewhere else. The manner in which he spoke to her absolutely disgusted me. She wasn't even a big girl. She turned with tears in her eyes, and I saw she was pregnant! She said, I was only asking if you carry size 42, you don't have to yell at me! Size 42 is not a plus size... it is size Large. How dare he yell at her or talk to her like that, she's pregnant for god sakes! And even if she were a super plus size, that's not way to talk to a customer or a human being for that matter! I dropped whatever was in my hand and walked out. I will Not make someone who has no concern for another human being's feeling any richer. There are plenty other places I can shop. P.S. My friend also mentioned they ripped her off on an Indian jewelry set she bought to match an outfit and then charged her card double. Apparently that's what they do. read more

They then came down to 700 but the damage was done I didn't want to give them any money at all for blatantly trying to rip me off. I'm really surprised at all the negative comments. Armaan's Bridal sets the standard high for customer service, quality, and price. I bought my reception lengha there and had a wonderful experience. The reason I will continue giving Armaan's Bridal my business is because it's obvious that making a profit is not their motive; Rahul really seems to care about making his customers happy. Customer service gets 5 stars, and the fact that my outfit is amazing is just a bonus. I happened in there while looking around for a reception lengha for my wedding. Rahul, the owner, came in and helped me himself. I had no idea he was the owner, as he was very helpful and attentive, no aura of arrogance, no boasting, no impatience from him at all. He took me and my bridal entourage into a cozy private bridal area, where he sat them down and made sure they were comfortable. It was like "Say Yes to the Dress- Desi Edition." During the process, which was very long, and before I even committed to buying anything, he offered to get everyone samosas and drinks- things to keep us comfortable. It's the little things, you know? Since I had no idea what I wanted, he pulled out a ton of lenghas to help me decide. He did not once seem agitated or exasperated with my indecisiveness. He went through at least 30 outfits, had me narrow down the list, and then literally helped me get dressed in at least 10 different outfits, from head to toe. He did not just hold them up to me in front of a mirror- he gave me the works- with petticoat and shoes to complete the look. The service was impeccable. He was friendly, funny, and patient. He engaged my bridesmaids and mom, making us all feel welcome and happy. I finally chose THE ONE. But it wasn't in the right shade of red- which I was heartbroken about. Brides- you know what I mean. Maroon/crimson/candy... they are NOT "the red" but no one understands :( Anyway... he was able to offer an option to have the lengha sent out to be custom made. The whole outfit was remade in the color I wanted. How freaking amazing is that?! I understand that not everyone may be able to financially afford that option- but let me tell you that I am not a high roller. I have a budget, and Rahul was able to work with me on my budget and made sure I got everything I wanted. There is a genuine niceness to him. He really seems to get pleasure out of helping brides make their dream come true. Anyway- a few months later my Caucasian girl friend asked me to take her shopping to get a sari. We went to Armaan's first, and told them that it was our first stop so we would like to make sure she sees what else is on the avenue. He had no problem with that. Rahul is confident in his items, as well he should be. My friend and I searched the entire avenue; she found another sari and some accessories somewhere else. But couldn't decide between that or the one at Armaan's. It came down to the price. We decided to go back to Armaan's and see what he was willing to do. He price matched the package from the other store (sari and accessories- although his sari was more worked up and should have been slightly more expensive). He kept my friend within her budget and everyone loves her sari. Yesterday I took my future sister in law sari shopping. We did the same thing- Armaan's first (because they obviously set the standard high for quality and price), then shopped the entire avenue. I wasn't 100% pleased with the service the saleswoman gave us, so I asked for Rahul to help us when we came back. Although he was busy with several other customers, he managed to juggle us all and made time to help us without making us feel rushed. He even escorted us to another store where he had saris, to make sure we were given all the options for what we were looking for. Ultimately, it was again a tie between two saris, one at Armaan's and one from another store. We tried to negotiate with the other place but they wouldn't really budge, AND, they didn't let us take a photo of my sister in law trying on the sari... which really was a crucial element since she wanted to send her parents a photo of the top 2 choices to help her decide. We were permitted to take a photo at Armaan's, which sucked for the other place because once her parents saw the photo they loved the sari (again, part of the customer service, people!). Also, the sari, which was out of our budget by a few hundred dollars, was marked down significantly so that it was manageable. We felt like we hit the lotto! AND, Rahul included earrings. I am going back next week to help another friend with her shopping... needless to say we will be going by Armaan's Bridal. I never push my friends to buy from him; I have nothing to gain or lose. I let them use comparisons of quality, price, and customer service to make their own decisions... yet somehow everyone keeps choosing Armaan's Bridal. That speaks for itself. Best collection in Jackson Heights....as in SEASONS INDIA/"wow, this looks like Priyanka Chopra's wardrobe" beautiful....I really liked Zahra, too - but in my memory it is a much smaller collection. They do lose one star because I saw one of the 2 outfits I bought for hundreds less at Chhabra Bridal in Boston shortly thereafter. But frankly, if I am in desperate need of an outfit and have a window of time in New York, its a better use of my time to go to Armaan's (where I am guaranteed to find something I love!), than to go bargain hunting at other spots and potentially leave empty-handed or with something I just settled for. I might feel differently if I lived there, but for all those brides making the Jackson Heights trip just to shop, keep this in mind! As for the service....my experience was AMAZING. I was in NY on a quick business trip - walked into the store after work, without realizing it was 15 minutes till closing. Rahul stayed an hour past closing to help me. He was extremely knowledgeable and polite (while being candid about what looked good/what didn't fit ---i.e., "respectfully madam,...we can loosen that", LOL ). But I am about to tell you the "ABOVE AND BEYOND" part. After the sale concluded, I was going to take the train one stop away, but since I had "tourist" written all over me and was carry several bags, Rahul had his brother flag down a cab instead. Then when no cab would take me the short distance (less than a mile) I needed to go to meet colleagues at a restaurant (I only had a credit card, guess they felt they wouldn't make enough money off of me!), Rahul's family DROPPED me off after closing up the shop, because they didn't think it was safe for a female/tourist to walk around there at night. Who in NYC does that? Who even in India shows that kind of hospitality anymore? Don't get me wrong, I was blown away by the clothing selection but the reason I am writing is because, in light of my experience, I am shocked by the what others have written here about a rude store owner and felt compelled to share my exceptional experience with Rahul. read more

We went back for numerous fittings and they took care of us every time. This is a store that I would definitely not repeat going to. It is way overpriced and the owner is very cocky. He thinks that his stuff is the best and will charge the customer way over what items should be. On top of that, he lacks any type of customer service and needs to take a class on customer service training. Unfortunately, I have purchased an item from here but will not be returning with my money. If you really want the best value for your deal, try some shops that aren't on the main street but just around the corner. They are more reasonable and perhaps a bit nicer in the customer service department. read more
