I visited the location on Jamaica Avenue. Walking in, it immediately feels different from the other stores you'll find selling Indian outfits. For one, you actually have room to walk and think. There is no overcrowding, no yelling between store associates, and no funky smells that greet you at the door. The customer service was also spot on. While there isn't an abundance of inventory, Casey knows the items he does have in store. The outfits are quality pieces at reasonable prices. The store is clean and organized in such a way that makes it inviting to stay and browse. Casey also was not pushy in forcing a sale which made it very easy for my entourage and I to purchase multiple outfits and accessories. Had my first sari made here and the sari bottom/skirt-only tailoring service was about $75 (I had my own fabric). I dropped off my fabric, had my measurements taken, and paid the same day. My sari skirt was ready in less than a week and it looks great! I would recommend Bombay Bridal Boutique to have saris made, but they are very expensive for alterations. I had a kurta that was too big but the cost to have it hemmed and altered to fit was quoted at $70. read more

They customized my order down to the minute details that others would wave off or charge more for. Here? nah. They were savvy and efficient. They're not one to give you run arounds, misinformation or absent service. After waiting 3 weeks or so for my order, I got the call to pick up my sherwani. I was not disappointed. The coat was fitted to my exact form and it felt comfortable and functional. I could not be happier with my order. I paid a mid-point price for high quality item. All in all, honestly? I kept raving about this place to my family because they function on honesty, transparency and also honoring good deals. I did not get cheated on material or quality. I needed a sparkly blue lehenga and choli for my Indian wedding reception. I happenned to be in NYC for about 36 hours and Yelp convinced me to check out this store. They have two locations and the owner suggested I visit the larger one (1/2 block away) to get what I needed. He called ahead and let them know I was coming and what I needed, which I really appreciated. The store has an excellent selection of bridal and formal attire and the woman who worked there was able to help me find something that made me feel incredibly beautiful. I was worried that it would be over budget (since my budget was pretty small and it is NYC after all...) but it was within my price range and I feel like I got a great value for what I got. The biggest concern was that the blouse needed to be about 4 sizes smaller and brought up a few inches. I wasn't sure if I should take it back to New Orleans (my home) and have it altered there, but the owner called his personal tailor who came and assured me it would be done on time. I called the next day at the time they said it would be ready, and I am happy to report it was waiting for me to pick it up. read more

I went to Bombay Bridal to get a Kurta and a Sherwani for my brother's wedding. I walked in and met Sunny who showed me what he had is stock, which I was fine with but not in love with. Sunny then asked me what I wanted and offered to have custom clothes made in India. He helped me design both outfits to my liking, was transparent on pricing, and delivered on time. The outfits looked fantastic and I am very happy with my purchase. I sent a few friends to get clothes for the same wedding to Sunny and he helped them find outfits that they liked as well. Do not go to this tailor. I brought in a Pakistani dress I was wearing to a wedding and they completely botched it. The dress was a two piece, top and bottom. The top was supposed to be altered so that the waist would be tighter. But instead they took the zipper out of my top when I didn't ask to, made the chest part sooo tight that I couldn't even get the top over my head, didn't make the waist tight enough, and just did an overall terrible stitching job. Idk which tailor did this but wouldn't recommend this place at all. You're probably better off taking your stuff to all the other tailors in Jackson heights. read more

Had to come here to buy an outfit for an Indian Wedding. Went to a number of other stores around this area. The staff here were the only ones that spoke perfect English. Not that bad English is a deal breaker. The clothes really should speak for themselves. However, it does make for better service as I have never been to an Indian Wedding and have so many questions. The quality of the clothes I was shown here are definitely a notch above the rest. You can feel the difference in the fabrics. They're thicker and more breathable. I ended up buying a nice greenish blue kurta that came with some cream colored pants. Very nice embroidery. I paid $150 for it. This was pretty much the upper end of my budget. The going prices for these around the shops here were all around $100-200. I saw some Kurtas online for less than $100, but the shipping dates were all around 25 days and obviously you can't try them on. If you need an outfit in a hurry and don't speak Hindi, I would definitely come check this placout. read more

Savita her sons and husband are true professionals. Savita was more like an Aunty. She was very attentive, very careful of sticking to what I preferred, she never persuaded me to go with the things I didnt want. She really enjoys what she does, back and forth pulling out beautiful dresses, matching the jewelry and showing you alternate ways or sporting the looks. Her son Sunny ran back and forth to their stock room to find a size for my dad almost 10x's and never once changed his pleasant face expression and attitude. They work quick to find the look you're going for. Her other son was the same way, he pulled maybe 15 men's looks to show my father and remained helpful and graceful to the last second. Savita and Sunny hooked me up with everything. Outfits for me, my husband and my father, they also suggested a very nice decorator/ photographer, a makeup artist, and even places where I can look into halal catering from. They were thoroughly helpful to the end. The only thing I would advise is to be sure of is when you customize your threading or color of the outfit, once you order and pay there is no refund or returning it. She might possibly do an exchange but I don't believe that that is their store policy. read more

As a bride in search of her perfect look, I visited Jackson Heights and came across this gem. I had gone to a few store down 74th, but none had a curb appeal that compared to Bombay Bridal Boutique. We came across it while walking to lunch and it immediately drew us in. Once inside, we spoke with Sunny who was very well mannered and knowledgeable on their merchandise. We spent hours here! Each article of clothing he showed us left us in awe. Nothing looked too cheap, like in the rival stores, and everything was very reasonably priced. A huge benefit of making a purchase here is you will not be charged extra to have your outfit tailored to your measurements and also having your blouse made, which other places charged up to $400 for. An added bonus is that they have options for bridesmaids outfits, which so far has been difficult to find. I will definitely be returning with some of my girls to peruse their options. I finalized 2 outfits for my wedding ceremony and reception. I will post an updated review once I have everything and am able to try it on. But so far, I cannot imagine having any issues with this business. They were polite and made everything so easy. They were very considerate of our needs. I cannot emphasize enough how comfortable it was to work with them. If you are in need of some shopping, I highly recommend stopping here. You won't be sorry! Walked in to look at party saris for an upcoming Indian wedding. Savita was super friendly and took the time to show how a pre-pleated sari looks like and how to wear one. She also recommended another store that they own which specializes in lehengas which was literally a 1 minute walk again. Party saris start at $150, $50 to create a blouse and another $50 to create the pre-pleated sari bottom. Party lehengas at their other store start at $250. I came in a few times and spoke with Savita Auntie who was extremely knowledgeable and helped me in thinking about what I was looking for. A few weeks later I came back and decided that I wanted the sherwani customized to match my fiance's red dress. I worked with Savita Auntie and her son Sunny and designed a sherwani based on 3 other sherwanis that were in the showroom. They promised that it would come back within 4 weeks and it did! My wife and me had a very bad experience here. The owner lady and her husband are very rude, disrespectful, and had the worst customer service experience. We bought most of our wedding outfits from this place . After getting my wife's wedding reception dress tailored ,it was too long and was hanging on the floor like a curtain and we couldn't even do our ballroom dancing for our first dance as a couple at our wedding reception. After this we went back to the store hoping that they would resolve this issue, however they wanted us to pay for additional charges knowing that we traveled over 4 hours to them and paying them too much money for all the outfits and the tailoring. Not only did they try to blame us for what they had done wrong, but ruining our first dance as a couple they never acknowledged their mistake. Had over two hour discussion with the lady owner and her husband. They were VERY RUDE, Disrepectful and Shrude. They of course ripped us off in overpriced clothes . I wouldn't recommend any one in the world this place, since the level of customer service was horrible and the owner and her family were very rude, disrepectful. Go to any other place that knows how to treat their customers right and isn't caniving and rude and ripping people off on their overpriced merchandise. Savita, the owner of the boutique instantaneously noticed, announced the price immediately which I appreciated after going to so many Indian businesses (disclaimer: I am Indian and my mom has an Indian business) where I feel the price changes depending on who you are or how well you bargain. She was kind and also helpful in getting me in and out of the dress which was not easy. She also arranges for alterations which are for a good price.
