Eddie World

Perfect pit stop 2 hours from Vegas with clean restrooms, reasonably priced gasoline and diesel,…read moresnacks, coffee, cold drinks, burritos and a large selection of stuffed animals. There are rows of stuffed animals arranged by species: giraffes, zebras, goats, donkeys, snakes, birds, cats, dogs, dinosaurs and more. Sadly, there are no more JellyCats following a corporate change in distribution. The staff are friendly and helpful.

ITS FINE! ITS FINE!…read more I have to admit: I'm a HUGE Buc-ee's guy and when I heard that in my road trip, there was "California's Largest Gas Station" -- I was intrigued and knew I had to stop in (so you don't have to). When you start seeing Eddie World from a distance, everyone begins to notice the same thing: the giant ice cream sundae. Cute. Next: going into Eddie's World, you need to knock in your head: this is not Buc-ee's: Eddie World is IT'S OWN THING. They sell an abundance of candies, snacks, jerkies, etc. with the Eddie World logo. Around the pit-stop are various counters selling different things: jerked, candy, coffee (Peet'z Coffee, in particular), pizza, etc. No merch, no mascot. Different but unique in its own right. Restrooms? Honestly? 8.5/10! It was very clean for being the west coast, and although it wasn't the Beaver's, it was clean enough for me to admit it. Overall, I'm glad I visited Eddie World even if it was born out of pure curiosity. If anything, you get to visit a new place, get a good walk, and stretch your legs.

The Amargosa Hotel and Opera House is a spiritual pilgrimage more so than a place to stay…read more Yes, the carpet is musty. The plumbing is old. There is a faint odor lingering in the hallways (not guest rooms). The building is over 100 years old and decaying in certain sections. This is not the place to stay if you want room service, sparkling water, and luxury amenities. Journey to Death Valley Junction and stay a while if you need to experience awe and want to restore what you've lost in the hustle and bustle of life. Be inspired by Marta Beckett's murals--a dedicated artist who breathed new life into the walls. Even if you don't stay the night, take a tour and see it for yourself! Plus, this hotel is only 30 minutes from Furnace Creek and is a nice break from camping in the desert at a very affordable price point! The beds were comfortable and everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly. I would stay again.

The hotel is very close to the entrance of Death Valley park. The history of the town and the Opera House that Marta Becket brought to life is fascinating! Don't miss a tour - they are given daily at 9am and 6pm. The on site cafe is closed but the hotel provides coffee and tea and allows guests to use a fridge, microwave and toaster. The rooms are kept very clean and the area is so quiet - I slept so well! Last, the staff are exceptionally kind and conscientious. This is truly special place.
