Even in Northern Afghanistan, because at least in Afghanistan you'd EXPECT the motel to be, uh, rustic. There was some confusion because I didn't know I had to manually cancel my reservation on Airbnb, but they were very accommodating, and facilitated a date change to this past weekend. The room is cozy and cute - very clean, with a Keurig that was thoughtfully pre-filled, and plenty of coffee pods and tea. There is also a fridge and microwave in the room, and a couch that looks like it pulls out to sleep two more people (in addition to the queen bed). 4 people to the room would be...really cozy. I could have done it in my 20s, but probably not now. LOL. Check-in process was very easy, with the key in a hideaway with a code that was emailed to me prior. Overall, it was a really lovely stay, and there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the main lemon house, as well as the random fun sculpture peppering the property.

Looking back at the old pictures confirms what I felt while there. This family cares about their property and are constantly improving. Smooth cement and lots of outdoor lounge space is available. Gas grills for BBQing and the one even has an oven. Plenty of parking just don't be ridiculous like me and get stuck on a tree stump! But not to worry they removed it that night... haha Stayed here a few times now and the family that runs this has been amazingly kind and accommodating!!! We will always be back.

Shoshone Inn (really a motel) is pretty much the only establishment in the area and was convenient for my planned expeditions, so I bit the bullet and made the reservation. Amenities: Hot shower (no tub), mini-fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker including coffee pods and creamer. Breakfast of bagels, yogurt and fruit also included. BTW the hot water was truly hot, which was nice (it's chilly here in winter). Lots of complimentary goodies (lotion, shampoo, bath gel, even eye gel and pillow spray to help you get a good night's sleep). Room: Very comfortable bed, large wardrobe for storage, and a nice desk with chair. NO CELL SERVICE OR LANDLINE phone here; but there is free Wi-Fi and a pay phone nearby for emergencies. Cleanliess was great. Service: Check-in ran a little late as my room was not ready when I arrived. Keeping in mind that the town of Shoshone has a population of 31, it must be hard to keep enough staff to get everything done. Everyone was very friendly and helpful about the process and answered all my questions. Just go with the flow. THE BEST THING: The Warm Springs Pool. Staying at the Inn gives you access to the Warm Spring Pool, which is heavenly. Shoshone is home to amazing natural hot springs (as well as their own species of pupfish adapted to live in the springs.) These springs feed the pool, which is a short hike from the hotel. Parking: Free in the lot. Tips: Bring food and supplies, there's a gas station market right next store to the motel but with limited provisions. Drive to Tecopa for more hot springs. And have dinner at Steaks and Beer (reservation highly suggested.)

The garage is well lit and easily usable. The bathrooms are all clean. The bedrooms are all fresh linens and floor is vacuumed. Did the finger dust test on corners etc. I'd say 8 out of 10 no problem. Would I stay here again? yes. Like I said no issues with this place at all. They always treat me right every time I've been here. And I've been here at least 10+ times. Thanks guys!
