ADTA is the friendliest group of firearm owners I have ever met. After some very scary incidents of violent crime in our community, my mom & I wanted to take firearm safety classes in order to be responsible gun owners. We went to our first ADTA meeting at the Federal Way Senior Center, and instantly felt welcome by the ADTA volunteers. (ADTA is non-profit, and all of the instructors and leaders volunteer their time.) We ended up becoming ADTA members in order to sign up for the gun safety mentoring program. (ADTA's monthly meetings are free and open to the public, but the mentoring and live fire trainings require a roughly $100 yearly membership due to background check and insurance requirements.) We met several afternoons at Tony's home, where he gave us personal, hands-on training in all aspects of gun safety (loading/unloading/holstering/firing/cleaning/etc.) After a few home sessions, we met Tony at the Federal Way Indoor Range to practice "live firing" our guns with his help and coaching. (My mom, who had never handled a gun before, was a better shot than me.) Thanks to Tony and ADTA, we both feel very confident in our marksmanship skills.
