I really do not know what these other people encountered to give this business such bad reviews. Every time I have been in the shop, they have been very helpful and willing to answer questions even when I did not buy. It is a small store so I really don't expect to find a huge inventory on hand. When it comes to NFA items, (suppressors, short barreled rifles and shotguns etc) they are VERY knowledgeable. When I purchased my suppressor, they walked me through the ENTIRE process including the trust documents. They coordinated they work necessary to get my rifle ready to accept the suppressor. Everything, literally everything was handled through them. They made it smooth and painless. All I had to do was wait on the BATFE. Every time I have been in, they have been courteous and even engage in casual conversation when not attending to other customers. And no, I don't work there or related to anybody who does. I've been in and out of gun stores in Memphis, Cordova, Germantown, Collierville Area for a long time now. Purchased several things from the various vendors and have been overall satisfied. Let me tell you why I will never, ever go back to Arms Fair. Perhaps a gunshop isn't the place to associate or ask questions pertaining to firearms? I know that when I have gone to Arms Fair, I was never made to feel like I was appreciated when I was there. I have purchased, out of necessity, from that place, even if it was higher price, because I merely needed the part or accessory fast. Not once, not even after I made large purchases there was I ever treated like a valued customer. Cold looks, unbelievable raised eyebrows when I asked to view specific inventory , and a condescending demeanor are the reason I will never go back. One associate even huffed and puffed in response to his co worker asking him to come see what I needed. You're at your job, idiot, not a place for you to play your computer and hopefully beg you for your assistance. If you really need something only they can get, then by all means, go. But if you want a great place to shop, with knowledgeable people, and a welcome atmosphere, then I'm pretty sure I could suggest another place....heck..I won't even mention that it's Classic Arms...whoops.. read more

I have bought several firearms here and would recommend them. They are one of the few actual gunsmiths in town and get me out of trouble with my AR build attempts! The two guys that work the counter and handle repairs are gun nuts...er...enthusiasts just like me. Always a good conversation! They have turned me on to several platforms I was unaware of (CZ). My first dealing with Arms Fair was the transfer of a firearm I had purchased on line and had shipped to them as the FFL. The process was seamless, went extremely smoothly, and the owner and staff were very accommodating. Their processing fees were competitive, also. My second experience was when I decided to step into the Class 3 / NFA world and enquired about purchasing a suppressor. They recommended, and guided me through the setting up of a Trust, which I did. I could not have done it without their help. I did not order a suppressor at that time as I wanted to do more research on what I wanted. Third time, I purchased a handgun from them. They did not have it in stock, so it had to be ordered. I had it within days. It was a little more expensive than I could have paid elsewhere, but i wanted to give them some business. Fourth time I finally purchased a suppressor. The price was extremely competitive and the fact they will process the paperwork is an added bonus. Of course, I'll have to wait an eternity before I can get my hands on the item... Ugh... My fifth and latest experience... only days ago... I purchased a handgun as a gift for a friend and am waiting for it to arrive. I have to say, the management and staff are friendly, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. I will give them as much business as I can and am more than happy to do so. read more

I was looking for three different things. A Shotgun, a machete, and a knife. I looked Arms Fair up online and browsed their online inventory. I found all three things I was looking for. Made a trip to the store. The did not have the gun in stock, they only had 2-3 knives for sale in the store. Not just two or three different styles of knives with different ones to choose from, literally 2 or 3 knifes and that's it. They also did not have any machetes. I was very disappointed. The odds of a store not having something your looking for, very probable. The odds of a store not having 3 completely different types of items you are looking for, very hard to do, but Arms Fair managed to do this. At least their website could have said this is not in store stock or only available online. Call and make sure it is at the store before making a trip. I was disappointed. When I made a comment about these things someone laughed and said, "man the store aint that big, we aint got a whole lot of space". The selection of other items was small also. read more

No way this place deserves such a low rating. Sure it's small with a small staff (the owners work there full time as well and are very good people), but it's a specialty shop. Go here if you want NFA items (suppressors, SBR's). They will quite figuratively walk you through all the ATF paperwork and notarize anything you need. They are also the only Blue Label Glock dealer in town. They have a selection of high end shotguns, and also deal with STI and Nighthawk Customs 1911's. They have a good selection of Glocks, M&P's, and Sigs etc... but don't really deal with cheaper brands (with an exception or two here and there). Accessories are a bit on the expensive side but the selection isn't bad. They have legit stuff like Blueforce Gear, EoTech, Trijicon etc... It's definitely not the behemoth that guns and ammo is, but these folks are knowledgable and friendly and actually have a pretty big warehouse that they can pull product from fairly quickly. Again, come here if you are looking to shop a bit more "high end" or if you are blue label eligible, or if you are looking to get into the NFA game. read more

I went in the store and purchased a $90 lower, they told me my background check had some red flags and I could appeal it.. I appealed it because my record is clean as can be. It came back saying I was allowed to purchase but it's up to their discretion. At that point they refused to sell it to me and only gave me $40 back and said they have to keep $50 for paper work.just be cautious shopping there. You may leave empty handed and your pockets lighter. read more

These guys are great. They know what there talking about any are very helpful. Suppresser purchases went flawlessly. There a group of no nonsense individuals and are easy to take to. Ask an intelligent question and get ready for a plethora of intel. More purchases from me are coming. read more

I only went in looking for another shop and can say that they are a 'class act' group. Robbie took time to look up my pistol I was trying to sell and even though I was not a customer......yet. The owner went over board to inform me on a subject even though I was not a real customer for that product. Just a real nice shop and people to match. I went into this store on Saturday looking to buy a Colt AR 15 and some accessories for the rifle and my new Glock is well, and was in there for about 30 minutes. They weren't busy, there were only two other customers in there...and no one looked at me...spoke to me...or acknowledged me the entire time. now I know why classic arms is always hustling and bustling in this place is dead. I wouldn't set foot in this store again if they were giving away guns. Worst customer service ever. read more

I don't live in Memphis, but had something to return to Bass Pro. I also wanted to buy a pistol while I was there. They did not have the gun that I wanted. I was headed back to my sister's house in Cordova and I did a search on my phone for gun stores. "Arms Fair" showed up and, lucky enough, was right up the road in the direction I was headed. I walked in the store and they had the very gun I was looking for at a great price. I had a short conversation with the salesman and bought the gun. In and out in 30-45 minutes. I was very pleased and would recommend this place to anyone. I never write reviews but noticed the negative reviews when I searched for this place. You can't make everyone happy, but I'll guarantee you that I'll be back in Arms Fair for a future gun purchase. read more

This is my favorite shop in the city. They are very knowledgeable, answered all of my questions, and have a great selection of class 3 products. To address some of the other comments, it is not the fastest place on earth. They are not a big box store. This is a great place to go for quality firearms, a knowledgeable staff and individual attention. On occasion you may have to wait to talk to someone but they are friendly and will take care of you when it is your turn. There are a couple places closer to my house than this one but I come here because they know what they are talking about. read more

To be honest, I'm not very familiar with Yelp, but I just don't understand some of these reviews. I am 66 years old and I've been to all the gun shops in the Memphis area more than once. I have only purchased a few things from Arms Fair, but I think Mr. Hill and his wife (who I assume are the owners) would be considered to be a true gentleman and lady by anyone who meets them. I did notice that two of the reviewers gave 5 stars to a gun store a few miles down the road -- maybe that's part of it. Regardless, just form your own opinion. read more

After I went to this store the first time I checked these ratings. I thought I had been in the wrong store. I was treated VERY nicely. I explained I was merely shopping around (not buying just yet) but that did not change M---'s attitude. He stayed attentive and answered all my questions and offered even more information I had not considered at this point. I shopped more and went back. M--- was off that day, so A--- helped me. He explained everything about how to purchase a suppressor. Even though it was obvious I was not purchasing anything right then several employes offered advice or were very helpful. Certainly not rude! My third visit was even better. I spoke with A--- and R------ on the details of what I wanted to do since the gun I was looking at was now sold. I bought some ammo (actually cleaned them out of that caliber). As I was leaving the owner in the front office acknowledged my visit, and the dog by her desk was even polite. I read a few reviews that complimented their gunsmith so I took my 30-30 over to get fixed. I was told 2 weeks to put a stock on. that surprised me. so on the third week I called and asked about it. was told that their backlog is 6 weeks. Told them I was told 2 weeks and the delay was unacceptable. . Told them I will pick it up and not to do anything. My wife went to get it on sat and was treated to extreme rudeness and bureaucratic bs about not being able to pick up her husbands busted rifle. I was called Monday at 0930 and told the gun was ready. When I went in to pick it up I encountered the same rudeness and bs. While their supplies of weapons was decent their customer service totally sucked I really hate it when businesses act ike they are doing you a favor as opposed to it being of mutual benefit to both. one gets change the other gets their weapon. I am in need or acguirinq a couple more rifles and handguns for hunting purposes, but I will never visit this store again for any reason given their attitudes an behaviors. They charged me 90 bucks to put on the stock nd a couple of sling holes. Total rip-off in service rates and in gun prices. I would advise everyone from going there unless u like surly monosylibistic folks who overcharge for their goods and services. read more
