Stopped at Sunshine Factory on the way to Emagine Willow Creek and this ended up being a really…read moregood find. The place was already busy right when they opened at 11, which is usually a good sign--and it definitely felt like a well-liked local spot. The atmosphere is very classic bar and grill with lots of seating, TVs, and a comfortable, casual feel. I ordered the chicken parmesan and French Onion Soup, and both were really good. The French Onion Soup had a rich, well-developed flavor, and the cheese on top had a slight sharp "funk" to it that actually worked really well. It added a little extra depth instead of just being heavy. The Chicken Parmesan tasted fresh and satisfying, with a good balance of sauce and breading. It had that comforting, homemade Italian-style feel rather than something overly processed. Overall, I would come back. It's not fancy, but it's a solid, reliable stop with good portions and flavors--especially if you're in the area or heading to a movie nearby.

Frankly, I'm shocked that this is my first review of Sunshine Factory because I've been here…read moreliterally dozens of times over the last 20 plus years, and that doesn't even include when they used to be in New Hope. I have always thought very highly of Sunshine Factory; it's packed every night, so do a lot of other people. (If you don't have a reservation and you come in after 4:45 pm on evening, be prepared for a wait.) The food had always been consistently excellent, and the service always had been (and is) fantastic. They must do a great job of finding and training wait staff because the are always friendly and efficient, and fill your drinks when they are even half full. Unfortunately, they have really shortened their menu offerings and I feel quality has slipped. It's true that this location seemed to be more casual than the old location, but the menu was comparable up until late in 2025, when they revamped and shortened the menu considerably. It now seems more bar-food oriented and more like Applebees or Chili's than what it used to be. I feel like Sunshine Factory has switched its business model from high-end diner to middle of the road food, because of a lack of choices and food quality that suffers in comparison to even a year ago. For example, I ordered the special that night, which was meatloaf. The plate came with corn and pieces of red bell pepper, a couple of slabs of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy. The taste of the meatloaf was meh because it was overcooked and dry. The corn looked great, but had the taste of canned corn (not even frozen corn). The mashed potatoes and gravy were excellent; I just wish the other items on the plate were as good. (I've noticed this decline over my last few visits and no longer feel this is a one-off situation). I have no idea, but I feel that Sunshine Factory has consciously decided to downgrade its selection (the menu is probably a third of the old offerings) and quality, although service remains high. Although it is consistently crowded with returning guests, they run the risk of other people coming to the same conclusion, which will eventually erode the success they have had for decades. I know that the restaurant business is competitive and difficult, but you can't ride on your prior success long-term. I would love nothing more than to see them return to the variety and quality that they are (or were) known for.

I came with a group of friends on a Friday night. We've all come together a few times and have to…read morelaugh that we cannot get a read on any of the wait staff. It always seems like they're upset with us, but I don't think they actually are? I like the vibe of the place, and I love anywhere with a claw machine, kids seem to enjoy it too. The food is decent, pretty much what you would expect. I ordered the guac and roll burger, which was good but could use a little more flavor. Nothing to complain about though, just not as seasoned or spicy as I would've preferred. Overall, still a good experience, just a bit odd.

I came to Maple Tavern in Maple Grove for an early birthday dinner with my aunt, who treated me to…read morea cocktail and a meal. Unfortunately, what was meant to be a celebratory evening turned uncomfortable. Our first bartender was dismissive and unfriendly from the start. The energy felt cold and unwelcoming. Later, a different bartender stepped in and completely shifted the tone as she was warm, attentive, and actually seemed happy we were there. I genuinely appreciated her professionalism. During our visit, a patron seated near us loudly glorified his sexual experiences with Black women. While that may not be the restaurant's fault directly, it created an uncomfortable atmosphere and added to the overall feeling that the space wasn't being thoughtfully managed. To make matters worse, after finishing most of our sliders (which were ordered through the first bartender), I found hair at the bottom of the basket. Finding hair in your food is never acceptable and completely disrupted what was supposed to be a special evening. We quickly paid and left. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but the combination of dismissive service, an uncomfortable environment, and a food sanitation issue made this experience disappointing especially for a celebration. I hope management takes feedback like this seriously, because no one should leave a celebratory dinner feeling unsettled instead of appreciated.
