They are an ingenious technology that collects sunlight through a prism-dome on your roof, then sends that light anywhere in your home through a specially-coated, incredibly reflective tube. The effect is that of a skylight but without the leaks and cost. We installed 3 of them through Arizona Home Daylight. The light effect is just incredible.
