I called The Wire Guy out of desperation, and they immediately responded and got a technician out that same day. After doing a careful and thorough diagnosis, Rhett located the problem. The builder had split the internal wires of one of our smoke detectors. It was starting to smoke but not yet enough for us to smell it. We were this close to having a house fire. Most of the newer lights I've seen are round but they were able to find square ones that fit right into the existing cutouts. Luckily, they had a cancellation and fit me in within a few days to change out the kitchen eyeballs (lights) in my rental condo, and add three can lights. They used close existing outlets to create minimal mess. One required a small cut of dry wall. They left the piece to be patched. They also recommened a dry wall person.
