But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way. We contracted with Well Built to renovate our bathroom which was over 80 years old. The bathroom…read morehad to be gutted, new pipes installed, electricity and all new fixtures. We are a family of 6 and thankfully have two bathrooms but as you can imagine, 6 people cannot share one small bathroom. We asked the owner, Don Delli, if he could adhere to a 3 week timeline. He provided a competitive estimate and promised to have the job done in 3 weeks unless something unforeseen happened. The Well Built team was in our house 7 days a week working on our bathroom. They were all very courteous and tried their best to allow us to go about our daily routine. As you can imagine, the house becomes extremely dusty and unorganized during construction, but the Well Built team cleaned up after themselves each day and took every precaution to keep the dust and elements from spreading to the rest of the house. Our brand new bathroom was finished within 3 weeks and it was better than we ever imagined. It is a totally different bathroom. We had asked Don and his crew to try to re-install our antique shower door. We did not think this was possible but this request was also completed without any issues. The interior renovation was a full-blown "down to the studs" project, that included opening up a load-bearing wall and the structural changes needed to accommodate that change. Also, included was opening up an existing doorway to install sliders to the deck. The new kitchen and half bath included all new plumbing; electrical wiring, fixtures and lighting; HVAC ducts: porcelain tile flooring; granite counter tops and the installation of new kitchen cabinets and appliances and a bathroom vanity. The backyard deck was built with Timbertech decking and Veranda composite railing. I'm very happy with the way the project turned out. Dave and his guys, Javier and Dennis, did an outstanding job. The guys working on the job are skilled, focused and courteous. They are very careful not to disrupt the remainder of the household beyond their work area. They arrive promptly, communicate well throughout the project and clean up everyday. They repect your home as they would their own. Javier is especially attentive to detail, conscientious, and very talented. I love the way the kitchen, bathroom and deck look, but maybe more important are the structural improvements Dave made to my almost 90 year-old house along the way. One of the main reasons I decided to contract with Dave was that during our first walk-through at my home he noticed that my floor was sagging between my kitchen and dining room. He immediately went down to the basement, pointed out a cracked floor joist and said this is where we need to start. None of the other contractors I was interviewing noticed or took the time to point that out. There is a Lally column and a repaired joist in place in the basement now that makes me feel good about my choice. We also encountered a similar problem as we opened the kitchen ceiling and found damaged floor joists on the second floor of my house. Again, Dave knew what had to be done. He added additional cross-hatched framing to the existing floor joists to provide the needed structural integrity. So, yes, my new kitchen, deck and bathroom are beautiful to look at, but behind the walls, my home is better then ever and that's a good feeling.

My concept for the backsplash was not exactly conventional, but Tile Master Mike was willing to help me figure out how to achieve it. Mike is also a master plumber, and Joe a master electrician, so it's one stop shopping: They take care of everything. The work area was neatly sectioned off with plastic, so no dust got into the rest of my living space. Pro Bros broke all the stereotypes of contractors who don't communicate, don't show up, etc. The lines of communication were always open, they showed up when promised, and cleaned up after themselves. The workmanship was top notch and the cost fair and reasonable. Brothers Mike, Joe and Charlie, and their entire crew, were all professional, personable, and considerate of my time and space.
