After arriving and speaking with a staff member my granddaughter and I spent an hour falling in love with this little gal. Before leaving we were going to pay her adoption fee and ask a few more questions only to be told that the kitten wouldn't be a good fit and doesn't get along with other cats. Which clearly stated on her page that she was good with other cats! After listening to there reasons that she wouldn't be a good fit I told them that my granddaughter and I had already fallin in love with her and I was willing to give her a try and to work with her if needed to only be totally discouraged to even do that. I don't understand how when we first arrived we were not told this information immediately so we didn't spend an hr with her becoming totally attached and in love with her. They could of also called me prior to the visit but didn't! I specifically told the gal that I was looking for a playmate for the cat that I already have right when we arrived! The least they could of done was be willing to let us give her a try instead of discouraging us in every way possible! They said the choice was mine but every time I said I would still take her they went on and on about it just wasn't going to work! So clearly the choice wasn't mine! My 10 yr old granddaughter was in tears all the way home and I'm SO DISAPPOINTED UPSET AND HEART BROKEN I don't even want to adopt another kitten at this point! Such and awful experience!

(Stray Cat Strut) Huge thank you to Last Hope for taking in the sweetest stray cat that wandered into my care, strutting right by with her tail in the air in December. She was too much of a princess to get her dinner from a garbage can, or get a shoe thrown at her from a mean old man! Red Wing doesn't have animal control, and all local shelters were full. The foster-based Camp Companion rescue also never responded back after I filled out their online form...so the situation was getting desperate! Last Hope became my literal last hope, responding immediately that they would be able to place her in foster care after being vetted at a clinic in Burnsville. I was so impressed with their communication and caring--I can't recommend them highly enough! They really do have cat class and cat style!

We checked out 3 dogs on a Saturday. 2 were too rowdy for us. Paco was a suck up. He had been at the shelter 9 months. Unsure why he was passed over. Could be his size. Granted, he is large at 82# and pulls somewhat on a leash. He has adapted very well to our home in MN. He is a very good watch dog, protective. He is funny, quirky, affectionate, loves walks, being brushed and car rides. He plays fetch very well and sleeps through the night on a king size bed. We initially fostered to adopt, but day 2, made the decision to officially adopt him. Because in WI, you need to return to a vet there for a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. Then it was finalized. He also was fully sponsored and free. Please adopt and not shop. Many loveable dogs need a second chance. The facility was clean and staff very nice. Highly recommend. (27)

I just finished having cateract surgery on my right eye also having astigmatism, have another appointment for the 30th of April to get my left eye done. What a difference it made and as everyone else says they should have done this years ago. The BA gets a five star rating from me.

A link with vaccine names was forwarded to us, but no actual records, dates, doses, or vet records. We repeatedly asked for these records or the vet's name to get them ourselves. We were told several times that they would send the records "tonight." We took the dog to the vet and discovered it was full of worms and malnourished. Since we couldn't provide any documents, the vet assumed the dog had been stolen and ran it through the databases. It was chipped but not registered to anyone. On top of the $700+ fee to adopt the dog, we have spent an additional $700 to bring it to where it should have been when we first adopted him (testing, registration, and vaccinations). We have no illusions that there will be any reimbursement for neutering as promised and have accepted the loss. Another rescue called Furever Home Rescue is different from this one and should not be confused. Frustrated by the lack of communication, I contacted Furever Home Rescue to complain and beg for the health records, and they were incredibly responsive. Also, they had no record of my dog since they are not associated with Furever Animal Rescue. Google lists Furever Home Rescue as a feature when Furever Animal Rescue is googled. I thought I was vetting the rescue but turns out I was looking at the incorrect website/rescue the whole time.

An unnecessarily painful and disappointing experience…read more I understand that shelters have a responsibility to carefully decide where animals are placed, and I never expected that applying for a kitten guaranteed that we would be chosen. What I did expect was basic consideration and transparency. After the first kitten we applied for was given to another family, Animal Ark asked whether we were interested in another kitten. Despite already having previously applied, we were not prioritized or fast-tracked in any way. Instead, we waited another week while they deliberated. Because we had already become attached once, we specifically asked whether the second kitten had other applicants--we wanted to spare ourselves the pain of becoming attached again if there was already significant competition. We were told there were no online applications, but they couldn't confirm whether there were paper applications. When we asked if someone could check, they refused. We ultimately proceeded anyway, only to have that adoption fall through as well. The issue isn't that we weren't selected. Animal Ark has every right to make its own adoption decisions. The issue is the lack of consideration throughout the process, particularly when we explicitly tried to make an informed decision and protect ourselves from another painful experience. We left feeling emotionally exhausted and deeply disappointed. Shelters can maintain rigorous adoption standards while still treating prospective adopters with empathy, transparency, and basic courtesy. Unfortunately, that was not our experience with Animal Ark.

The foster family was lovely and answered all our questions. They clearly had provided the puppy with an excellent home environment and had been taking fabulous care of her. Our puppy is an absolute delight and has fit right into our home. Adoption process was very easy and I was provided with all of her medical records and tons of pictures immediately. When I needed some follow-up heartworm preventative medication, they were quick to get it to me at no extra charge. Fabulous experience!
