Step 1: Schedule a Saturday off to yourself (yes, the Market's open Wed-Sat, but you get 100% vendorship on Saturdays) Step 2: Set your alarm clock EARLY! The trick is the "when" do you get there? Wait til the later hours of the day.. and every shop will be empty that you went for! I've learned this too many times in my sleep-in days, to get there way too late to find so many of the shops sold out, or the "runts" of the sales left. So figure out Early and then getup before then! Step 3: Get in your car and go shopping!!! (Follow the map of course!) Plain and simple you want fresh produce.. this is where you go. Whether it's veggies,. meats, baked goods, coffee, soaps, sweets, snacks, and even alchy beverages if you so desire! (and you just might as the day goes on) Get there early and load up! (Just warning you, you may have to make a few runs between your shops and your car, considering what you -could- load up on. Now as stated by many, it's a smorgasboard of what you can find, all along the entire market. (but just a word of advice, whatever you buy at the market, please clean and store PROPERLY as soon as you get home, this is a farmer's market and you can lose some fresh produce REALLY QUICK!) And just remember you're going to have to fight your way through the crowds. because EVERYONE and their relative knows to come here. (Picture yourself in a demolition derby with everyone.. cause that's what it's going to feel llike... Controlled Chaos! **See I knew I'd fit the title in here somewhere*) I will admit you there are some vendors that sell the usual "touristy wares" on occasion, such as "gold jewelry", Sports uniforms (Battlehawks, Cardinals, Blues), you know the quick .. touristy stuff. But the real value is the food and the food 'trucks', including BBQ , New Orleans style cuisine, mediterranean.. you know everything you can find at a farmer's market :) STEP 4: And to top off the day. a real daiquiri or bloody mary to seal the deal! Three Rivers Community Farms where I picked up celery, broccolini, salad mix, and snap peas. Were Dough Baking for a Lemon Caper Sourdough. Biver Farm for new Parsley plants and some garlic scapes. Kakoa snagged a brownie. Tomatoes, radishes, zucchini, cucumber, and arugala from Yoder farms and Spicy Chicken + Chili dip from Field to Fire stl. another beautiful day and a busy market, so much fun

I would've said the same until I realized that the good folks at the Bottleworks allow the farmers to sell their goods indoors during the chillier, off-season months. Having had lovely weather earlier this week, they decided to hold the market outdoors this morning, which, in my opinion, was still a bit too early. Brrrr! But, there was hot coffee and other belly-warming goods on hand, so all was well. Cheery, freshly-cut Spring daffodils waved at us as we checked out the farmers' wares. Farm fresh eggs! Grass-fed beef! Fresh pasta! Amazing goat cheese! Overwintered spinach and fresh arugula and kale! Baked goods, jams & jellies and all sorts of things to make tummies happy! I love farmers markets and the Maplewood one is pretty great. Even better when it's warm and sunny outside, because then the harvest is particularly diverse and bountiful. Once it's growing season and the market is in full-swing, I recommend showing up when the market opens. Lines will already be forming. And I *will* elbow my way through the crowd for a few pints of Biver Farms strawberries.

They are set up on…read morethe parking lot of the Living Room every Wednesday from 3:30pm-6:30pm starting May through October. There are various vendors that sell locally prepared products and locally grown produce, flowers, mushrooms, and honey. There is often times a food truck/beverage truck as well. I bought some fresh cucumbers, asparagus and granola. The granola was delicious and savory. They offered samples to try before buying. There was a Boba food truck out Boca Boba, it was absolutely delicious and refreshing for this sweltering hot day!

On Manchester you will see that red roof and you must stop in to get farm fresh tomatoes, apples, peppers, berries, zucchini, and more! They have a fantastic farm egg selection that was $1 a dozen once! We love their royal red shrimp and octopus selections! And be sure to check them out during crawfish season for their amazing boils! We sat on their patio and had a delicious meal! They also will boil anything you buy in store too. I think they said they were going to do a fish fry and lobster roll event soon too! The store is small, but each square inch of space is used to maximum advantage. They fit a lot in here! I got what I came for, plus a bit more. I got some fruit that came in a large amount, and the cashier cut off the amount I was wanting to pay for - i so appreciated that, as every dollar counts in this economy! I will be back often this summer to stock up on the great produce!
