It gets crowded on the weekends. If you try and stagger the time that you go, it may not be as busy. Parking is meter/paid parking, but you may luck up and find free parking. It's a must if you are ever visiting STL or if you simply want to go to the farmers market!! I love going to the Soulard spice shop. It is one of my favourites.I have a few preferred produce stands i love going to for fresh fruits and vegetables. And don't forget about the flower shop.

Step 1: Schedule a Saturday off to yourself (yes, the Market's open Wed-Sat, but you get 100% vendorship on Saturdays) Step 2: Set your alarm clock EARLY! The trick is the "when" do you get there? Wait til the later hours of the day.. and every shop will be empty that you went for! I've learned this too many times in my sleep-in days, to get there way too late to find so many of the shops sold out, or the "runts" of the sales left. So figure out Early and then getup before then! Step 3: Get in your car and go shopping!!! (Follow the map of course!) Plain and simple you want fresh produce.. this is where you go. Whether it's veggies,. meats, baked goods, coffee, soaps, sweets, snacks, and even alchy beverages if you so desire! (and you just might as the day goes on) Get there early and load up! (Just warning you, you may have to make a few runs between your shops and your car, considering what you -could- load up on. Now as stated by many, it's a smorgasboard of what you can find, all along the entire market. (but just a word of advice, whatever you buy at the market, please clean and store PROPERLY as soon as you get home, this is a farmer's market and you can lose some fresh produce REALLY QUICK!) And just remember you're going to have to fight your way through the crowds. because EVERYONE and their relative knows to come here. (Picture yourself in a demolition derby with everyone.. cause that's what it's going to feel llike... Controlled Chaos! **See I knew I'd fit the title in here somewhere*) I will admit you there are some vendors that sell the usual "touristy wares" on occasion, such as "gold jewelry", Sports uniforms (Battlehawks, Cardinals, Blues), you know the quick .. touristy stuff. But the real value is the food and the food 'trucks', including BBQ , New Orleans style cuisine, mediterranean.. you know everything you can find at a farmer's market :) STEP 4: And to top off the day. a real daiquiri or bloody mary to seal the deal! They stay open till dusk None of the farmers had lettuce, bummer! But we had so much fun, I dragged my daughter's with me and we made a stop at Field to Fire Stl, chatting with Mike about the Red Lantern Night Market and how good the Watermelon Salad was that he sold there, so fresh and delicious! We stopped at Farm Spirit; I see them at the Saturday market but never ordered. I had people to share with, so we got the smash burger and caprese salad. The burger was so good, great crispy edges and a super soft bun, add the chili crisp was so good! We went back to Field to Fire and ordered Crab Rangoon dip. We dug in when we got home with the Fry Bread the gave with it. DO NOT miss this!! So good, lots of crab meat, cream cheese, sour cream, onion, sesame, ginger, garlic, chili, sugar, vinegar, scallions, and salt. This is the crab rangoon dip you want over and over. Fresh produce and food that is so good! We did get a few vegetables from Yoder - one of my favorite stops on Saturday and Tuesday. Great vegetables and fruit!

It's pretty huge, but I was hoping more local farmer/produce options. This was cute though because the center of it was a playground, and a pavilion for a live band. I would've said the same until I realized that the good folks at the Bottleworks allow the farmers to sell their goods indoors during the chillier, off-season months. Having had lovely weather earlier this week, they decided to hold the market outdoors this morning, which, in my opinion, was still a bit too early. Brrrr! But, there was hot coffee and other belly-warming goods on hand, so all was well. Cheery, freshly-cut Spring daffodils waved at us as we checked out the farmers' wares. Farm fresh eggs! Grass-fed beef! Fresh pasta! Amazing goat cheese! Overwintered spinach and fresh arugula and kale! Baked goods, jams & jellies and all sorts of things to make tummies happy! I love farmers markets and the Maplewood one is pretty great. Even better when it's warm and sunny outside, because then the harvest is particularly diverse and bountiful. Once it's growing season and the market is in full-swing, I recommend showing up when the market opens. Lines will already be forming. And I *will* elbow my way through the crowd for a few pints of Biver Farms strawberries.

Went to the SOL Food market today, not many vendors out due to the hot weather. They are set up on…read morethe parking lot of the Living Room every Wednesday from 3:30pm-6:30pm starting May through October. There are various vendors that sell locally prepared products and locally grown produce, flowers, mushrooms, and honey. There is often times a food truck/beverage truck as well. I bought some fresh cucumbers, asparagus and granola. The granola was delicious and savory. They offered samples to try before buying. There was a Boba food truck out Boca Boba, it was absolutely delicious and refreshing for this sweltering hot day!
